Can I install BIOS G500s G500s Touch?

Can I install BIOS G500s G500s Touch? It will cause any problem? I want to update the BIOS, because right now, if I want to press F1 I have to press FN and F1 which sucks for games and normal usage. I noticed that G500s model received an update that allows users to make the F1 key, the key «Real F1» However, when I check the page G500s Touch, there is no update for her.

I don't want to use this thing called "SharpKeys" to remap keys. I don't want any 3rd party program installed on my laptop just fix my keys F1 - F12, that is why, I want to know if it is safe to do so. Thank you.

Hi Derek,.

  • I can't install Vista x 64 Bios on Satellite A200

Months ago that I posted that I have intalled Vista x 64 home premiun on my Satellite A200 and I can't install Vista 64-bit bios.
But today, after trying to install new Vista 2.50 x 64 Vios and have the same problem using Toshiba Recovery CD.
I need to install Vista 32 bit and I can Flash the new 2.50 Bios in Vista 32.

So I think that my CD rom is ok and I think I have not install Vista x 64 Bios because have not all drivers.

    Whats is your opinion?

    Hello

I found your other thread regarding the update of the BIOS in Vista 64-bit:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/message.jspa?MessageID=123211#123211

It seems that something was\is with your ROM BIOS module and it was therefore not possible to update the BIOS on the A200.
You case that neither BIOS 32 bits or 64-bit BIOS update is possible

So, my recommendation is. Contact the ASP in your country for a control.
Don t be angry with me, but I don't see other reasons why you are not able to update the BIOS

  • Satellite A300 - after the BIOS update I can not install two OS

    Hello everyone:

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300-247 with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Then I formatted it and divided the hard (320 GB) into 6 partitions and installed Windows Vista and Windows XP on drive C to drive D after having changed the SATA controller mode in the BIOS for compatibility. The computer worked well with 2 operating systems. However, when I updated the BIOS to version 1.9, two operating systems stop working and one of them can be installed: XP can be installed when SATA controller mode is placed on compatibility and Vista can be installed only when the SATA is changed to AHCI.

Is there is no explanation of what past? And can I install operating systems 2 together again?

    Thank you

    Hello

First of all, I doubt that this has something to do with the BIOS update. I think that after the BIOS update HARD drive mode has been changed from AHCI to compatibility and therefore the OS didn't start.

Anyway, in compatibility mode you can install Vista and XP without the SATA drivers. This should t be a problem.

But do you know the difference between compatibility and AHCI? AHCI mode is faster and therefore I would recommend this mode.
Like you said Vista you can already install in AHCI mode and for XP, you need Intel Storage Manager. This package includes the SATA drivers you need and here is a step by step guide to use these drivers:

Last but not least, you can install 2 OS. You can do what you want! ;)

  • Satellite A30 - after the BIOS update I can not install any OS

    Hey everybody

I have a problem with my laptop Toshiba Satellite A30 PSA33E. I update my old BIOS and 1.7 and now I have a problem: I can not install any OS on my PC because it stops whenever I try to install. After 50 tests, I installed a Windows SP2, but my PC turns off always.

My CPU is at 100% after I launch mozilla so I guess my problem is the BIOS. I try to install v1.8 BIOS and is not working and I get an error (not compatible with the installed BIOS)

Where can I find the 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 ROM BIOS? Can someone help me please?
    THX

The latest version of the BIOS should not cause this kind of thing. Have reset you the BIOS to its default settings?

Have you checked the CPU radiator for an accumulation of dust? A can of compressed Air can help remove dust through the vents.

What was the reason that you updated the BIOS, in the first place? Had previous problems with the system?

  • Satellite C660 - cannot install BIOS 1.50

    Hey.

I just bought a new Satellite C660 24 hours. I have installed all updates and programs for the PC to run more smooth, but I can not install the Bios 1.50. It gives me an error when I try to install it.
When I go to see the latest version of the bios it say it is 1.20.

    How can this be repaired?

    See you soon.

    Hey,.

Why do you update the BIOS? You have problems with your new laptop C660?
I mean the BIOS update is always a bit risky, so I just wanted to update so it s really necessary, otherwise the BIOS update is not important and you can forget it.

Just have fun with your new laptop computer and enjoy! :)

    Hello

Do you get the BSOD during the BIOS update procedure?

If you have installed your system, then you should check that the VAP is installed as well.

  • Can I install Ubuntu in the U940-sp4103gl Satellite SSD?

    Here are my questions:
Can I install ubuntu in the ssd from Toshiba u940-sp4103gl?

    How to do this?

It's urgent, I will appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

I put t see no reason why you shouldn't be able to install Linux.
You would need to make some change in the BIOS of the U940 satellite.
    (1) disable secure boot
    (2) pass the CSM UEFI

Now all that, you should be able to boot from the disk or USB memory stick.

  • Portege 3490CT - I can't install XP using the USB dvd burner

    Hello

I can't install Windows XP Home edition. I have USB-DVD writer and also an external recorder Toshiba on PCMCIA (CPI 5025a Toshiba) but he couldn t find any external recorder.

I remove the HARD drive and format the extern in 2 parts.
I first install BACK and copy the files of Windows XP Home edition on the second part, but I could also install it because of the conflict of the FAT and NTFS t. In the BIOS, I chose cardbus-16 bit. My CD burner works (tested before).

Please help to install Windows on my laptop.

You cannot install Windows XP directly because there is no driver for the external optical drive to build.

Mainly, you're on the right track.
Format the HARD drive, make two partitions the two FAT32.
Copy the folder I386 from your CD to install XP on the second partition.
    Start the installation calling winnt.exe.
Install XP on the partition of frist.
After the installation is complete, you can use the XP "convert.exe" command to change FAT32 to NTFS partitions. Run "convert.exe /?' in a DOS window to get the correct settings."

  • can I install an SSD on an optical drive in a HP Envy Phoenix

I just bought a custom HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop - 810-350se CTO with a Raid 5 (3 x 2 TB) configuration, but I noticed and did some research it seems that it's better to have an SSD installed for faster computer access data, of course, I want to use for the operating system installed on it.  So I have two questions?

(1.) I can change the configuration so that I can add a SSD on an optical drive? (This will be the 4th disc). Since I already use 3 HARD drive on a Raid 5 configuration and there is no more space on the left, I guess I can only use an empty space of optical drive and install a SSD?

2.) is there a limitation on the number of readers and HARD disk can be installed on the motherboard?

My proposed solution is to keep the 3 HARD drive and install a 4th disk (SSD) on the optical drive and use it to the operating system (Windows 8.1).

    Recommendations or suggestions is appreciated.

    Thank you.

    3rd generation Intel Core i7-4960 X processor

4 TB 7200 RPM SATA 6 G RAID Hard Drive

    Hello

Your PC is already using a bootloader of Windows 8 and if you load the SSD in UEFI mode, then you will add an another boot loader of Windows 8 for the menu eligible boot device.  This will lead to confusion.  I suggest that you avoid this situation by trying the following procedure:

    1. Don't forget to create the external HP recovery media
    2. Install the SSD on port 1 or 2
    3. Disable startup secure in the BIOS and set the legacy mode
    4. Start the Intel OPROM and rebuild the matrix RAID 5
    5. Boot into the BIOS and UEFI mode
    6. Start the external HP recovery media and load the SSD drive (SSD recommended size is 240 GB or more)
    7. Once you are currently running and then go to disk management and upward and format the matrix RAID like TPG

The above procedure may or may not work, but that's what I would first try.
