Can I migrate separate MacBooks two new accounts on an iMac?

My partner and I have our MacBook Pro and we are thinking about buying an iMac. Is it possible to migrate our accounting separate from the two different MacBook Pros to a new iMac as two different accounts on the iMac? We run both OS X 10.11 (El Capitan).

Yes. No problem as long as each account has a different name. Assistant configuration to use when you log in to the new mac and ensure that other computers are available (the network should work). You can migrate other accounts using Migration Wizard since the utilities subfolder of the folder after the initial installation.

  • I need to move content from an old account to a new account on my IMac

    Hello

When I imported all my old files / images / iTunes on my windows to my IMac desktop, he created 2 accounts.  The account that I don't use my library iTunes in it and other files etc...  I need to move the contents of my ITunes library on my current account - both on the same currency.  Grateful for any advice... Thank you

    Hello FMATB,

Please ask for help here in the Apple Support communities. I will be happy to provide you with options for you to do all your account data on your iMac, the account that you usually use on the same computer.

The more simple since you already have now all the data on the same computer, a little less than two different accounts, is to locate and organize your iTunes Media folder in the unused account. This article helps Apple will help you ensure that all of your songs, playlists, play counts, and library is consolidated and ready to go: locate and organize your iTunes files.

Once this is done, this help article has a few options, and it also offers images to help you move the library using an external hard drive or flash (USB key). How to move your iTunes library to a new computer. "Since the data are on the same computer, just under different accounts, I recommend that you check" part 3: copy the backup to iTunes on your new computer ", but you can use the hard disc or flash drive (thumb) method, or you can use the Shared folder, located in the Finder, Macintosh HD, users shared.

Either option will help you to fill in moving your music from the unused account and put it in your main account. Be aware, that if you currently have music on your main account, it will ask to replace the file, or place it with all your other data. If you replace the data, music and data that you will only be of the second account. If you add, when you open iTunes, you still can't see your music until you pass the library. If you need spend libraries, see this help article: Open a different iTunes library file or create a new.

Thank you and have a great rest of your day.

  • I put two new DNS on my iMac, but don't know why!

The story is a little complicated. We bought a stick of ROKU and installed in our HDTV. We had continuous problems with streaming. To halfway through most of what we were looking at a status bar 'recovery' presented and crawl slowly until towards the end a message informed us that the program could be is over looked. I went back with CS ROKU and they offered several fixes. After being annoyed for probably the last time technology has suggested I go into my iMac Preferences > network > add DNS and select two new DNS sites which recommended. He believed that this was the problem. So I did this and tested the ROKU streaming three hours but this time without any buffering.

I don't know exactly how applying these two new sites DNS on my Mac is to correct the problem and whether it will continue to provide the cure. Anyone know?

DNS is usually assigned by your ISP, however, there may be cases where using third-party DNS settings are beneficial. Roku is a third-party product, you should contact Roku if you having problems using their product. Personally, we use the Apple TV in my house and have had no problems.

If you want to learn more about what DNS is, I recommend Googling and you'll find a variety of items available. A good starting point is

  • Absolutely, I can't migrate Tbird on my new computer

Mozback is not doing. I've screwed up when I first used it on my old machine and downloaded a new email, without realizing account I had just imported my e-mails of 2010 and not each after her. After some moving around, I had these new emails to my OLD Thunderbird import tools.

However, I can't import tools copy my profile on my OLD machine. No matter how many times I also try to create a new backup using MozBack, when I go to restore it to the new machine it gives me my emails old return of 2010. I have tens of thousands of emails that I need to migrate. I even tried moving things manually.

I'm OK techwise, if someone can give me instructions that work, I would be grateful.

    I already tried this:

Move from an old machine to Windows Vista with a Windows brand 10 machine new. Help please!

You want to move everything on old computer to new computer.

    On both machines:
    Show hidden files and folders.

    On the old computer:
    In Thunderbird

    • Help > troubleshooting information
    • Click on the view file"" button.

a window will open showing you the content of your profile folder name.

    • Close Thunderbird now - this is important.
    • Copy all the files and folders you see in your profile folder name.

See image below for example, you must copy the files and folders.
So point highlight / select a folder for example: Mail and then use the 'Ctrl' key + 'A' to highlight all. Then right-click on folders and files, highlight and select 'copy '.

    • Paste them into a key usb or other external device.

    On the new computer.
I assume that you have installed Thunderbird and run the first time to create a profile folder name.

    In Thunderbird

    • Help > troubleshooting information
    • Click on the view file"" button.

a window will open showing you the content of your profile folder name.

    • Close Thunderbird now - this is important.
    • Delete all files and folders, if you have a folder of empty profile name.
    • Paste all the files and folders you previously copied from old computer in the new computer profile folder name.
    • Restart Thunderbird.

  • files and folders: How can I load all my files and folders to my new account of my external hard drive?

Who can help, I just put a new account on my computer and deleted the old account. I backed up the old files on my external hard drive. I want to know is how can I load all my files and folders to my new account of my external hard drive? I thank you for your time and knowledge have a very nice evening, Shawn

Because it's a new account (even if with the same name), the restore procedure is unable to put files and folders in the same place, they came (because this place technically no longer - if yes, then the process is done and the transfer is complete). It can create a set of separate files (maybe even under a new user name, if it has been stored in this way).  If so, all you need to do is copy the data as you would copy any other files and folders (not the main files of the user profile themselves but the data in them) on the new files in your user account and who will take care of the transfer. Here is more information about the restore procedure which may help you in the process.

Here is an article on the restore procedure:http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-restore-files to make sure you do this right.  It's a selective restore of a full or selective backup (not a full restore from a full backup) - but since you did a full backup, it matches your process more closely than would a full restore.

This is a GREAT article on the backup and restore processes in Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.09.backup.aspx , but he won't go into detail about the restoration process - considering almost as easy, of course.  But it teaches you a lot about what is possible and how to do it.  It also focuses primarily on the full backup process, but he did mention the full backup and restore process as well.

Here is an article on the advanced use of restoration (during normal restore does not work):http://www.mayankraichura.com/post/2009/08/06/Avdvanced-Restore-via-Windows-Vista-Backup-and-Restore-Center.aspx.

I also found the following (but don't know if it of true or not):

    1. after the start of "backup and Restore Center."

    2. I chose "Advanced Restore"

    3. I was did not an administrator password... maybe because my account is an administrator account.

4 choose "files from a backup made on a different computer.

    5. in the dialog box indicating "Select the location of the backup to restore", select "hard drive, CD or DVD...". »

    6. under the drop-down list box, select your drive/partition and continue

    7. If all the backups on your drive, it will show a list of them.

    8. in my case, he showed a backup, but in the backup location, it will show "backup location is not available."

    9. I was frustrated, but then I somehow just select this backup (Yes... even if he said that thebackup location is not available " ")

    10. and you press "next".

    11 guess what... no error!

    12. a window appeared asking me if I wanted to do a full restore, or I want to select specific folders or files.

    13. I selected the folders I wanted to restore and bingo... it their restored smoothly.

    14. so that the next time see a mistake, try to continue with him... ;)

I don't know if this will help, but it does not provide much information about the process (when it works).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Best way to migrate virtual machines to new ESXi hosts with a different configuration of networking.

We currently have a cluster of 6 Dell machines that move VM 120 or so on ESXi 5.5. Networking consists of a dVswitch with 6 uplinks that map to 6 x 1gig physical NETWORK adapters on each host ESXi... These are grouped into 3 trunks / gal, so we have 2 GB by SHIFTING of the bandwidth and failover. The LAGS are configured as follows:

    LAG1

Traffic to our (NFS) shared data store and management of ESXi. (vmk0)

    LAG2

Access to the network of the VM - groups of different ports on different VLANS

    LAG3

    vMotion (vmk1)

We just bought 6 new Dell machines that have connections fiber 2 x 10gig each. The idea is to bring together in a 20Ggig LAG by machine that will handle all of the traffic, so traffic NFS data store, network traffic from the VM, vMotion and traffic management ESXi.

What is the best way to migrate the virtual machine in the cluster existing to the new machines? Many of the virtual machine are essential, so we cannot stop time.

Can I create the new DELAY on existing dVswitch and put it as an auxiliary card? I'll be able to do it for all 3 of the above both above LAGS?

Thanks for the info Alistar, it's almost here. The bit that was me stumping was that after establishing a new dVswitch I received messages that the new dvSwitch was not reachable on the old host, when I tried to migrate the virtual computer.

The solution (with the permission of VMware Support) was that I need to add the two dVswitches to one of the old hosts, then assign a physical alternative on this host uplink to a temporary 3 uplink on the new dVswitch. I then tag all the relevant VLAN that uplink.

This way I can first migrate the virtual machine to the new dVswitch networking so I can move the computer to the new cluster.

Obviously I can only migrate from old to new cluster with a single host. each virtual machine must be a double for the host with 2 switches, and then to the new cluster. I also had to have the two dVswitches to the same version.

Fortunately, I had a physical rising spare on the hosts of the old, otherwise I would have had to break one of the trunks and re-use of one of these uplinks.

Oh and be aware, impossible to use the same names for groups of ports 2 DV switches, they must be unique!

  • Migration of PC now I have two user accounts.  How can I transfer everything to a user account

I've migrated from PC to iMac, and now I have two user accounts.  How can I just well mover a user account and then delete the second user account.

A user account is one that you created in the Setup Wizard when you have got a Mac. The second he the user account you migrated your PC. If you used the same username for both, then you can simply copy the files from one to the other. If the user names are different, then see: transfer of files from one user to another account.

  • CD part downloads between two iTunes accounts on the same MacBook Pro

We have a MacBook Pro shared between two users

Can I share a CD downloaded on two iTunes accounts, without using home sharing?

I don't really want to download the same CD twice as that would waste space unnecessary.

    Thank you

    Without using home sharing...?

I guess it's technically possible if you put the iTunes Media folder to somewhere that is accessible from the two user accounts, but which will cause more problems than it is worth.  For example, you can add new songs in your iTunes library and the other user iTunes library will not know about these songs.  Or another user can delete music files, while your iTunes library expects that these records of songs to always be there.

  • Can I delete my old Firefox sync account if I have a new one that uses the same email address?

    Hello

I took off all my devices a synchronization of the old account and set up a new synchronization. In this process, I used the same as before email address.
I have no use of my old account of synchronization, so the question is:
Can I remove the old account from synchronization (via https://account.services.mozilla.com/ ) and - implicitly - all associated data without affecting my new account of Firefox (and its data) somehow?

    Thank you!

Even if you use the same email address the two synchronize the old and the new are separated. As long as you are sure that all devices use new synchronization then the old one is no longer necessary.

Here is the main article for help on the new sync
