can I move my itunes music on external drive

Hello world

I want to make space on my internal hard drive.

Is it possible to get out all my itunes music on an external hard drive?

If so, how do you?

Many thanks and best wishes

  • How can I move my iTunes Library to External Hard Drive?

I googled cela but can't seem to find what I'm looking for...

I want to leave my iTunes library in all my Windows PC for a hard drive external and I want to keep it there because it does not fit on my new Macbook Air. I'm happy to plug every time that I would use my iTunes library.

I found the instructions step by step online, but I would like to know what happens if you never had the option "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" checked. This way only future additions will be copied in my folder or it will copy all my previous music? I took a peek in the folder and my latest addition isn't here so I guess that it copies only future additions to the library. Is this correct?

If so, how to get all my music in one folder so I can copy it to my hard drive? (Yes, I confess that my music seems to be scattered in my PC)

I have a summons for my emails to a certain company. How to separate my their email inbox and put them on an external support to provide for the lawyers?

You should check with the lawyers, what types of files, they are satisfied. They may prefer something like PDF.

File | Register under allows you to specify the file type. I would say .eml because it gives a copy verbatim.

Drag / move to a folder on your computer normally gives the same result.

If you have a lot of messages to export like that, I would use the ImportExportTools add-on - we.

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Thunderbird/addon/ImportExportTools/

It also gives you a PDF option if appropriate.

But you do, you may find that it's cleaner to do a specific folder in Thunderbird and copy all relevant messages in this folder. Then you can export this folder as a procedure for blocking simple file copy/transfer, having already separated and organized. This folder will also remind you what you have sent to them and help you spot any omissions.

You don't say how you have moved your front support. A lot of people do it the wrong way.

Looks like you need to consolidate and organize all your content in the media on the external hard drive folder.  It's the location displayed in iTunes > Preferences > advanced.  iTunes will copy files to this place and after you check that everything went very well you can remove the originals from other places.

  • How can I change the iTunes music player?

I cloned my hard drive for an SSD earlier, so I have 2 identical copies of my library of music on the c: / (my new SSD) and E: drive / (my old hard drive). I want to delete all my music from my SSD and iTunes play entirely from the drive hard, how can I achieve this?

I tried to delete the folder of drive C (C:\Users\X\Music) iTunes and force iTunes to load the library to drive E (by displacement of opening and choosing the new library), but it always comes back to play the files media located on C. I spent a lot of time manually organize my library, unfortunately that's not as simple as moving the iTunes Media folder since none of my music is there. I also tried, but it always ends up reading files on the C drive:

How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support

Simply, what I want to do is change iTunes somehow to run to E: / my music and not C: / My Music. All paths are the same, it's just the drive letter, I want to change.

    Thanks for any help.

See make a library of portable split. Looks like you're almost there. If your media is not in the standard support folder but up to in E:\Users\\Music which will be the reason why it did not work. You are really attached to your manual organization? It would not be acceptable to have your media to E:\iTunes\iTunes Media\?

  • Creating a new iTunes merged on external drive library

I'm currently using 10.4.11 and iTunes 9.2.1 - I got lots and lots of problems with iTunes and libraries corrupt and have got to the point where I did all my playlists and so on are lost.

I'm done with all my music files shared between two folders - there are duplicates between these records, but as far as I know, nothing is actually missing. As I don't have enough space on the hard drive of the current computer to consolidate those two files, I have them have copied onto an external hard drive - now I want to consolidate the library on the external hard drive in order to pass all the music to a new version of iTunes on my new iMac.

Can someone tell me how can I do? I guess I need to move the iTunes application itself on the external drive to consolidate the two music files here - it is a simple process, and it will work?

First of all, you must certainly not move the application iTunes itself.  Secondly, as you said you copied your separate music files on the external hard drive you should still have them in their location of origin - otherwise, you should copy them back again before proceeding and make sure you can always play your music in iTunes.  The function of the iTunes "Consolidate library" is to copy the media files from their current locations to another of your choice, and update the iTunes database so that all references to the location of your media files are correctly updated.

The correct procedure to follow is:

    1. External hard disk, create a folder called "iTunes", then in this folder, create one called "iTunes Media.
    2. In iTunes, select iTunes > Preferences > advanced, and then change the setting for the iTunes Media folder iTunes/iTunes Media on your external drive
    3. Now select file > library > organize a library..., check the files to consolidate and, if not grayed, the reorganize files.. box
    4. Click OK - iTunes won't copy each multimedia file that is located in a valid entry in your database for iTunes to the hierarchy of standard folder in iTunes/iTunes Media external hard disk
    5. Once this process is complete, check that your music plays again - when you have verified the results, you can then delete the original files that iTunes has just copied your media since.

This will produce a working library with all media on the external hard drive, as you have described.  However, at this point, you have a shared library with the database of iTunes and other data to support on a single disc and your media on another.  Manipulation of backups, migrating to a new computer, replication to other computers, etc., works best if you have the complete library on the external hard drive - see tips to the user of turingtest2 on do a split cell library for more information.

  • Share iTunes media to external drive issues

I think I know 'how' to do it, but have a question about what happens if I go this way.

    Background:

Set up a new iMac and put our music on an external drive.  I have my card to the library user account using 'alt' / find the process of the library.

Now, I have separate accounts for my wife and two children and want their iTunes using the same media.

Home sharing works fine if the computer is on and that I'm connected, but this isn't an ideal solution for us.  It seems, as I use the 'alt' / find the process of the library for each account and it should work, although I understand that a single user can use the library at some point.  That shouldn't be a problem for the way in which we use our computer.

Now, assuming that the process works, my question - for those who did, here's my question: each user customizable yet their use of iTunes to their liking?  More important still everyone can customize what gets synchronized on their devices (phone/iPad)?

Thanks in advance if I understand how the library file that iTunes creates works with the application.

    Hey jjtrindc,

  • How to search for music on external drive, while in I tunes

I just bought the Mac Mini and have an external hard drive connected with my music on it.   I tried to click on search on iTunes, but could not get to find my music...   What is the best way to locate my music?

The best answer, to more information about your intentions and history. The direct answer is drag media files to the external drive to a blank playlist in iTunes. Of course, this copierait all the files on your internal drive.  The best solution would be to place previous to your new computer. A library is much more than simply a set of media files, however.

    Hello

Do you have any application installed on the computer security?

    Method 1:

If you do, I suggest you to disable anti-virus and check if it solved the problem.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

If the step is not enough, then you can go to the method 2:

    Method 2:

I suggest you go through the steps and check.

    a. closed Windows Media Player12.

    b. Access Services [table-> system and security-> administration-> Services tools]

    c. find the service named "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service"

    d. stop the Service manually.

    e. Locate the "UpnP device host"service. Stop the service and restart it.

    f. run "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" now.

    g. close windows all associated and the Panel. Open Windows Media Player, right click on a playlist and see if the Play option lists the TV. Try to play now.

Hope this helps and keep us posted.

  • How can I move a folder to a different drive

My external HD with all my photos seems to be corrupted, I bought another pilot. How can I move the entire library to the new drive... I do not see the new drive in Lightroom

Changes are lost if you can't point LR to a good copy of your images.

If you made a backup of your external hard drive, you can copy this backup on your new drive; Then, as long as the folder structure is the same the old disk, you point just LR on the top level of the new disk files in folders, and LR Panel will reconnect everything for you.

  • Movement 10 Windows on an external drive

    Hello people,

As a newbie in the world of Macs, my pride is a mid-2015 Macbook Pro (15 ''), whose hard disk has been partitioned in 2: for OSX and Windows 10. For many reasons, I want to spend the partition 10 Windows on an external drive - can I connect whenever I want to use MS products. I read that Windows 10 can run from a drive that is connected via the USB ports - so I plan to a thunderbolt drive.

Any ideas on how I can go about moving only the windows on the external hard drive?

I don't mind using a lengthy process to copy the entire contents of the macbook on the external hard drive, and then deleting the part OSX - if someone can make sure it will work. and can give me some instructions.

PS my level of skill / confidence (on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 = grossly incompetent and 10 = expert) on computer related things are 5.

    Thanks in advance.
