can I put a 'not activated' version of XP to Windows 7?

I recently installed on the OEM of XP version on an old laptop to see if it (the cell) worked and something that children can use.  I of course can't activate the version of XP, but she wondered if I upgraded to windows 7, would this work?  Put another way, would the fact that the XP version is inactivated AFTER damage to the installation of windows 7?

The OEM version has probably been installed on another computer previously, this is why it will not activate. All OEM versions are related to the first computer/motherboard they are installed and can not be moved to another computer.

Since you don't have any valid before AND activated the Windows version (XP or Vista) on the laptop that will not activate a version "Upgrade" to Windows 7, you must buy the "Full" version of Windows 7.

But before do you the first thing that you must do is check if the laptop has available Windows 7 device drivers.

Go to your computer manufacturer's support web site and search for Windows 7 drivers for your specific model number.

If there are Windows 7 drivers, then to download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the mother/chipset, LAN, Audio, USB, SATA card, drivers, and so on.

If you have an Intel motherboard, you can try the Intel driver update utility: http://www.intel.com/support/detect.htm?iid=dc_iduu

Check the download site of the manufacture of the graphics card for the latest Windows 7 drivers for your card.

  • How can I put a note in a different setting?

I'm your basic book - a large column (facing pages) with occasional captions/images. In the case of an image, it is in a frame, the legend in another, they are combined, and the pair placed in large text. The problem is, I have to add a reference to a legend, but have the note appears at the bottom of the large text block, not the background of the image of the small caption. Help help!

I put the marker reference with the anchor of the frame, then select it and change the color to none (and resize or kern it back, if necessary hide the space it occupies), then add a corresponding number of exhibitors in the legend of the reference tone.

  • Can I legitimately use a downloaded version of ISO of Windows 7 with my genuine license?

I recently bought a new system with an OEM Windows 7 Professional installed. When the customization I went for a 32-bit version of Windows for compatibility not abreast of the 4 GB limit in 32-bit OSs (it was not mentioned on the website of the vendor and even Windows page Microsoft says that 64 bit systems handle large amounts of memory more efficiently, but it's another criticism).

I contacted since then ask them my 32-bit copy must be replaced by a 64 bits but they say that they don't what I activated my copy and they are not sent a 64-bit install CD even if some manufacturers provide both.

However apparently my OEM license licenses me for installing 32-bit or 64-bit, and I have been informed by the company that I can download legitimately and ISO of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit image, activate it with my genuine license key (32 bit) and be legally permitted to use the software. Apparently their Windows REP told them that they care not whence the media as long as the license is valid (and I believe that the Windows Genuine Advantage software will allow a legal license be purchased from Microsoft to legitimize a non-genuine copy). Is this correct? It is important for me that I license correctly.

I've always found Microsoft Licensing really useful to clarify things for me in the past but I can't find a way to communicate with them about it and Microsoft does not seem to talk to OEM licensees, referring back to their system providers (which, in my case, are not be useful).

Could someone clarify things for me or give me an email address where I could contact Microsoft themselves about this?

If you want to reduce costs now, the best option is to go with the retail upgrade package. If you need not unique features of Windows 7 Professional for example (Domain Join, Remote Desktop, group policy, encryption, network backup), then you could buy a cheaper edition such as Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade.

Keep in mind, but if you decide to transfer the license of Windows 7 Home Premium to another system down the road, this system should run the qualifying operating system, since the OEM license is not transferable.

  • Windows 8 Pro - not activation

    Here's my problem.

I had Windows 8 Pro Portable one. I was using the developer preview of Windows 8.1 for awhile now.
Now that the final version of W8.1 will be available next month, I thought to install Windows 8 and put my phone to receive 8.1.
But now, the Pro 8 Win is not activating. I get a message that says that the key is not valid, and I need to get another key.
Is it because I had Win Pro 8 approximately 2-3 months back that has been activated and I try to turn it on again?
If this is the case, how can I get this product active now and download the Windows Pro 8.1 for me that I am eligible?
I know there are a lot of questions related to that, but please reply or give me a link where I can find an appropriate response.

    Try again by phone:

    1. press the Windows key + X , and then clickrun, and then type: slui.exe 4

    2. then press the ENTER"" key.

    3. Select your "country" in the list.

    4. choose the option "activate phone".

    5. stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    6. explain your problem clearly to the support person.

    Please note:

To install a Windows 8 upgrade version, you must already have Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP installed on your PC.

If you have formatted the drive until the upgrade of Windows 8 version has been installed, you will not be able to use your upgrade product key to activate Windows 8. To activate Windows 8, you will need to install your previous version of Windows, and then reinstall Windows 8. Help with the activation process, contact technical support.

  • Since version 18.0.0, Firefox regularly replace some parts of my screen when it is enlarged but not active (Outlook or Word); is there any solution for this?

Any time I can get Firefox enlarged but not active (so it is behind another active window / application) on Windows XP Pro SP3, it regularly replace significant portions of my screen. If I move the mouse, type, scroll up/down or anything to change the screen, the active application is slowly starting to appear. For example, in Office 2007, when this happens, I can continue typing a sentence in Word or Outlook and this line is displayed, but the rest of the message area displays remnants of Firefox. If I move the mouse along the Ribbon of Office, it will be displayed in pieces are the reached mouse. This problem has been held regularly since the version 18.0.0 and persists in 18.0.1. I prefer not to minimize Firefox so I can move conveniently via Alt - Tab from Firefox and the other application, in that I work, but this problem that is almost impossible. FYI, when I'm in Firefox, no other pop application on top, not other applications show otherwise, so I know that the problem is caused by Firefox and/or interaction weird with the new version and installed plugins, drivers or other software.

Could you try to disable graphics hardware acceleration? (I have trouble determining your "more system information" if it is enabled or disabled). As this feature has been added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there are still some problems.

You need to restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

If you restart Firefox, the problem is solved?

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

More information area has direct links with the current and recent buildings if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for old video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with QuickTime software or a third party.

Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.
