  • How can I determine why my netbook won't start in Windows XP Home Edition?

I have a netbook Acer Aspire One A0751h multiboot, which recently stopped starting in Windows XP Home (SP3).

I have NOT a CD Windows XP Home OEM (because the netbook does not comes with one).  I can boot from an external USB CD/DVD drive, but this does not help me much because I do not have a Windows XP Home OEM CD.

My boot (GRUB) menu allows me to start in:

    • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (which would be defective, even in safe mode - it crashes after loading the driver for agpCPQ.sys)
    • Windows Vista (loader) (Acer recovery Partition)
    • Ubuntu 11.04 (various kernels - currently 2.6.38 - 11-generic (Natty Narwhal))

If I try to start Windows XP, it hangs up the PC (even in safe mode).

If I boot on the Acer Recovery Partition, I have the options to wipe my system back to factory settings, or move my user data to c:\backup and reinstall Windows (or what is desirable from a distance).

If I boot to Ubuntu, I can mount the Windows Partition to/media/ACER in two clicks.

    How do I:

    1. find out why Windows crashes and won't boot (can't connect to the faulty startup? I tried boot logging and impossible to find a newspaper)?
    2. Difficulty of Windows (I've already scanned the drive under Linux to find errors, and he comes clean)?

If I have to, I can back up my content from the boot drive in Ubuntu, but I tell myself that I should be able to fix my Ubuntu system just as easily (SHOULD be the keyword).  Remember, I can access all the files on my computer from Ubuntu.

    Help!

EDIT: Note that I JUST found that I can boot from a Windows XP Professional OEM CD and enter a recovery console.  Not that this helps me a lot, I can handle files of Ubuntu.

I want to put restrictions on my Windows 7 Home PC, that person other than me can install anything (software, games) on the system other than me, but they can only use the Application installed on the system.

Precisely what user accounts allow you to perform.

Explanations, see Windows Help.  Search for user accounts and search for UAC.

Create a user account Standard protected by password for each of the other users.

Set the level of the UAC on the highest setting.

    - - - - - - -

When you have done this, you must also create two password protected administrator accounts to allow tasks such as installations, connect to them to test the two and then downgrade your own account to a Standard user account as well.  Your day-to-day activities, while it is connected to an administrator account opens your system up to Trojan attacks - see

Why use a standard account instead of an administrator account?

  • I have windows 8 and my husband has win8. Can we post appts etc and then be able to view the calendar of each and others without it going throug mail?

I have windows 8 and my husband has win8. Can we post appts etc and then be able to view the calendar of each and others without it going throug mail? If I post an apt for one or two of us on the calendar, it is possible for him to see and vice versa?

    Hi Candy,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, of course, there is a way to put the appointment both of your calendars. When you use the same account Microsoft to connect both computers, the changes made in the calendar by a user is looking at another user's calendar. So, if your husband books calendar for an opportunity, then you will be able to see it.

I use the full version of DASYLab 8.0, how to add PID module in the design of the façade (window layout)? while I can vary the p, i, d values in the window layout

To do that you will need to change the varibles PID values and then use the sliders to add numbers to a latch for variables that point.

This is how I think it works in Version 8.

In all cases, you should move on to 12 more stable summer.

In addition, unless that is a very slow process, I generally do not like closed loop PID with DASYLab due to the fact that computers is not reliable with timing.

    Hello

You are unable to update or upgrade Vista 32 bit to 64 bit of Vista.

32-bit to 64-bit, or 64 bit to 32 bit is done by a new installation using a full version of the operating system.

32-bit and 64-bit are different operating systems.
