Can I re-use a retail version of Windows 7

Hello

Can I use a version of Windows 7 on another machine when I replaced on my main PC with a new version of Windows 8 retail?

Thank you very much

What about upgrading the software?

The software covered by this Convention is an upgrade of your existing operating system software, upgrade replaces the original software that you upgrade. You keep any rights to the original software once you have upgraded and you can not continue to use or transfer in any way.

Need to buy a license for version complete for Windows 8 in order to stay in compliance, so that you can transfer the Windows 7 upgrade elsewhere.

  • Can I use a retail version of Windows 7 SP1 to fix to install an OEM Version?

Im running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit on my HP desktop computer preinstalled. He's worked for years, but now I have many problems with it:

-Speech recognition on the screen keyboard and Narrator just does not work with "a referral was returned from the server" error message. They work if I turn off the UAC, but I want to keep it activated for security reasons
-Windows Update fails always up to date, the last successful update was a month ago. He gets 2 error codes: Code 8000FFFF and Code 80070005
-Some convenience stores in Windows does not start and the error code 0x80070005

I think that the errors come from problems related to security on my computer. At this point, I want to do a repair of Windows 7 installation. My office did not come with a Windows 7 DVD, but I created a commercial version that comes without the key to Digital River.

Can I use my OEM of Windows 7 Home Premium product key to activate the repair facility of the Windows 7 Home Premium from the disc, I created using Digital River and Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool?

Why not reinstall Windows 7 instead?

    -------------------------------------

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

    ------------------------------------

    Reset the security permissions:

One option is to reset your default security permissions by running the following command:

    secedit/configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf/db defltbase.sdb / verbose

For more information, you can see KB 313222.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/313222

Also be aware of the following:

«.. . command line is no longer able to reset all default security settings and can even result in the operating system becomes unstable. »

If this does not resolve the problem, your installation can be irreparably and the only other option is to reinstall them all. As you may know, there is a recovery disk. If it has not been provided, you will need to contact your employer who sold you the computer.

    ---------------------------------

    Also:

    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any breach of integrity

    Restart your system

    ----------------------------------

If all of the above is not appropriate, you can try doing a repair install using your Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 disc downloaded from Digital river:

    Hello

The product key you use to install could be a volume license key, you can contact your network administrator to download the iso from this site http://msdn.microsoft.com/ and install the W8. The W8 will be key during the installation or is installed with the default key that will work for 30 days. If it is installed with a default key, you can change the product key with the suite of measures

    -Run as administrator command line
    -Enter the following command

    slmgr.vbs-ipk TYPE-YOUR-KEY-RIGHT-HERE
-Now go to the properties of your computer and click on activate Windows.

She's... You are finished with the activation of new volume Windows8 license.

  • Can I use the full Version of Windows 7 that I would use the edition update for Windows XP?

Can I use the full Version of Windows 7 to upgrade Windows XP with a custom installation, as I would with Windows 7 Upgrade Edition if I want? (If I decided that I would rather clean the entire hard drive so I can use the full Version of Windows 7 without the need of Windows XP or Vista)

    Hello

To upgrade your Windows XP computer to Windows 7, you will need to select custom during installation of Windows 7. A custom installation keeps your programs, files or settings. It is sometimes called a 'clean' for this reason installation.

MY DELL LATITUDE D610 HOW CAN I UPGRADE TO THE NEW VERSION OF WINDOWS? NOW IT IS WINDOWS 7, WHAT VERSION IS SUPPORT FOR USE WELL ON MY DEVICE? PLEASE HELP ME

Read this: upgrade Windows 10 Dell Latitude D610

Take a look at my answer, complete instructions.

Basically speaking, Dell officially supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP on Dell Latitude D610 (and other models of Dx10).

However it can really run Windows Vista and 7 at least, as long as you max out the RAM (2 GB, 2 x 1 GB, can be purchased at a great price in eBay) and install the drivers, in particular graphics drivers, look in Device Manager and see what drivers are needed manually.

If you're lucky to have a D610 with ATi graphics card then you can even run Windows 8 and 10 with all drivers available, and I can tell you that it won't be slow dog not unlike a lot of people say, I don't have something similar (a HP Compaq nx8220) in common use. Keep as lean as possible (not bloatwares, anti-virus etc.) system, and it will serve you well.

purchase windows 7 Home premium full version IM on best buy and I want to know if something happens to my pc and I reinstall windows 7 again once that I have to use a new product key or can I still use the same serial number im dvd original buy next week?

You can reinstall as many times as you like on the same PC. No need for a new product key.

There is a slight chance after the 5th reinstall or significant physical changes, you may need to reactivate by phone:

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • Can I legitimately use a downloaded version of ISO of Windows 7 with my genuine license?

I recently bought a new system with an OEM Windows 7 Professional installed. When the customization I went for a 32-bit version of Windows for compatibility not abreast of the 4 GB limit in 32-bit OSs (it was not mentioned on the website of the vendor and even Windows page Microsoft says that 64 bit systems handle large amounts of memory more efficiently, but it's another criticism).

I contacted since then ask them my 32-bit copy must be replaced by a 64 bits but they say that they don't what I activated my copy and they are not sent a 64-bit install CD even if some manufacturers provide both.

However apparently my OEM license licenses me for installing 32-bit or 64-bit, and I have been informed by the company that I can download legitimately and ISO of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit image, activate it with my genuine license key (32 bit) and be legally permitted to use the software. Apparently their Windows REP told them that they care not whence the media as long as the license is valid (and I believe that the Windows Genuine Advantage software will allow a legal license be purchased from Microsoft to legitimize a non-genuine copy). Is this correct? It is important for me that I license correctly.

I've always found Microsoft Licensing really useful to clarify things for me in the past but I can't find a way to communicate with them about it and Microsoft does not seem to talk to OEM licensees, referring back to their system providers (which, in my case, are not be useful).

Could someone clarify things for me or give me an email address where I could contact Microsoft themselves about this?

If you want to reduce costs now, the best option is to go with the retail upgrade package. If you need not unique features of Windows 7 Professional for example (Domain Join, Remote Desktop, group policy, encryption, network backup), then you could buy a cheaper edition such as Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade.

Keep in mind, but if you decide to transfer the license of Windows 7 Home Premium to another system down the road, this system should run the qualifying operating system, since the OEM license is not transferable.

  • Anyone know where I can find FreeCell Solitaire 'traditional' in & used by earlier versions of Windows (I had Vista)?

Fortunately I download from the Internet if necessary - I like to keep a 'traditional' desktop shortcut (I don't like or use the new windows desktop 8). I can't find games with the same background, the bridges of photo tips for FreeCell, and ability to delete FreeCell statistics.

I know that these games, but a lot changed on Windows 8, but I would like to than the original versions.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

In windows 8, you can download and install games on Windows Store. Games are embedded as in previous versions of Windows are not present in Windows 8. You can download Microsoft Solitaire Collection in the Windows store that includes 5 variants of Solitaire (Klondike, FreeCell, Spider, TriPeaks and pyramid).

Most of the games you know and played on earlier versions of Windows, also works with Windows 8, but some older games might not. To see if your favorite game works with Windows 8, go to the Compatibility Center for Windows 8and then press or click the game on PC to see if there's information about your game.

  • If I buy the update, can I still use the previous version?

I'm sure that this question is answered on the Adobe site or in the forums somewhere, but I can't find the answer.  I hope someone can point me to the official policy of Adobe.

I think the upgrade of CS4 CS5 versions, and one of the considerations that would affect my decision would be able to use the old version on my 2nd computer (a laptop).  Is this allowed?   Currently I have to disable Photoshop on my desktop PC and activate it on my laptop so for use during a trip, and I always forget to do, so I find myself not not using Photoshop on my laptop at all.

You can do what you want.*

The license covers use on both computers.

    * I always advise people to keep the old version in any case up to are completely happy with the news.

  • Is it legal to use and the version of Windows XP OEM from an old computer (to be retired) to the lower-grade a Vista to XP computer?

(I have a few Win XP computers running the great. And I like Win XP.)

    Here's the situation:

I have also a Vista computer and a very very old computer Win XP.  This computer very very old win XP has been in the dust of basement collection and will be sent to the recycling center.

    Question:

The two Vista and old Win XP computers came with the OEM version of windows.  (Not the retail version.)

Is it legal to use the Windows XP from this very old (to be retired) computer to down-grade the Vista to XP computer?

(Will do that if it is not legal.)

    Thank you

    Skip

Sorry, no. You cannot move an OEM license on another computer.

You can move the windows on a new computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on one computer at a time (and if it's a version upgrade the new Windows computer must have its own license of qualification). The previous Windows installation on your old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.
