can I recover the files and settings after you have reinstalled windows vista

Hello, I just reinstalled vista on computer laptop lm to correct some problems there at - it a way to recover my files from my old windows vista formatting hope that makes sence lol thanks of ;)

You can retrieve your personal files, but not the settings, even if you could look under AppData in the Windows.old and copy them to their respective directory in the installation of Windows Vista work.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

Well I thought about it.  I had to physically locate the .pst file in about 2 weeks on the external hard drive.  I copied and pasted in my user profile.  Then he imported in Outlook.  All emails and contacts restored.  I knew there was a way to do it.

When I restart my computer, it seems that I have now 2 versions of Vista installed on the D: drive but Boot Manager does not let me start the 2nd version - how can I delete this version without removing the working version?

It cannot be, if this is the case, you have just two entries to startup, and isn't a working installation. To delete the boot entry, you don't want to, follow these steps:

    Click Start, type: msconfig.exe

    Press enter on your keyboard

    Go to the Startup tab

Select the entry, and then click Remove

    Click apply and OK

When you are prompted, restart the computer.

  • My product key is not be accepted after you have reinstalled Windows Vista.

Using product keys Vista reinstallation (OEM)

I reinstalled Vista after failing to fix some registry errors. I threw down the front product key I have re-installed, but it's a product key which is not accepted by MSFT.  Instead of 25 numbers as it requires, I wrote a 20 (and part it says OEM).

It's good to upgrade to a version XP OEM Windows Vista and upgrade CD is not a product key. The XP CD has a product key, but of course Vista is not accepting it.  Apparently Vista stops working in 20 days, if I activate it. What is the product code I can use!

    Not worth it!

Obviously the disk did not contain certificates appropriate for the key.

Your SLIC table seems to be the appropriate injector to install a Vista, rather than installing a XP, so a recovery disk Dell to Vista so that the machine can very well work - and is much less expensive than buying a new license.

Your best option, if it comes to having to purchase a new license, is to buy a copy of Windows 7 upgrade, it would be cheaper that a full version of Vista from Dell and would be transferable to another machine if he died. • After you have reinstalled Windows Vista, you receive an error my key is only for updates and installs not clean the device.

    Activation problem

I reinstalled Vista (upgrade), when I try to check and enter my product key, it says "only for the upgrade not a clean install.  On the activation screen, it shows all telephone support option.  Thanks for any help!

This is because a product upgrade key requires a copy of Windows to upgrade.  That's why its called an 'upgrade '.

Restore the copy of Windows you improved the first time and then move on to Vista.

  • How can I recover the files and programs before a system restore? my document folders are all empty and my programs will not open!

How can I recover the files and programs before a system restore?  my document folders are all empty and my programs will not open!

I know they are there and hidden somewhere, but this restoration took my settings of the computer to 2004! We lost all our data, our software that we use to operate our company at home, our quickbooks that has all our financial data, family photos, videos, Outlook will work not so no e-mail, all turned in time and 6 years ' worth of documents have disappeared.

What happeneded was that I was trying to upgrade to quickbooks software when I got an error, I cancelled out of the facility, then restarted and that's when I got an error hal.dll something? I thought about a system restore would allow me to go back in time to just before when the error occurred, but he basically took my computer back to factory settings, so all the programs that I installed and paid hundreds of dollars for the past six years has disappeared, Microsoft Office and very expensive construction estimating software that we wil have to pay once AGAIN for If I can't get this program working properly.

    I am a fool! I can't believe what's happening.

Someone at - it instructions on how I can retrieve either the programs and data that I need specifically or how to go and seek shade from the files I read online on and restore my computer for about 12 hours ago?

    Thank you all!

    Sally in Georgia

Looks like you did a system rather than a system restore recovery.  If you have inserted a disc supplied with your machine and booted from it, you probably erased the disc and installed the original operating system provided with your computer.  Usually, a step in this recovery is to do a full format or quick of your drive.  If you did a full format, your data is permanently lost.  With a quick format, your data may still be there, somewhere but inaccessible by normal means.  Applications must generally be installed, in order to recover the files probably will not help unless you have the original installation media.  Your other data files (images, videos, financial data) may be salvageable, but at this point, it would be advisable to take your computer or your disk to a business/professional who is experienced with data disc recovery.  It will be cheap and there is no guarantee.

Impatient, remember investigate you a backup strategy for your computer and critical data.  Hard drives can go wrong with little or no warning.

  • After you have reinstalled windows 7 on my computer hp laptop, internet wireless does not work. Any help?

I have a hp430 laptop with Windows 7 64 bit ultimate. After having a kind of pilot/virus that froze my computer, even once, I reinstalled my laptop with windows 7 64-bit ultimate.

Now it cannot connect to the internet through wireless. I tried all the basics: by pressing the button to turn on the WIFI on my keyboard, restarted my computer, which allows to disable the internet connection in the network area, etc..

In Device Manager I see 4 devices linked to the internet wireless:

    1 > 1 other devices > network controller

    2 > pci device

3 > pci simple communication controller

    4 > Sm bus controller

-all the features above then have a yellow warning sign-the error is to have no driver installed.

What should I do? How can I get my Wi - Fi to work again?

    I found a solution

go through that link above just enter #ven in the name of the Salesperson box and #dev in the dev on search button vill box.click a list of devices .go through the device u pc download of the combination of this vill...

for #ven and #dev, we need to click on 'network controller', which need drivers in Device Manager.

Then click on the Details tab. In the property drop-down list, select the second element (Hardware ID).

We can get to the #ven and #dev of the first string you see in the window...

  • How to get the drivers and files lost after you have reinstalled Windows XP

Message: How to recover documents Word and Audio drivers after reinstalling Windows XP on the computer.

    Operating system: Windows XP

Exactly how is that did you reinstall Windows.

Your "reinstall Windows" had formatting of the disk (i.e., a "clean install") or restore the computer to its state of "cost-of-the-factory '?  If so, your documents and other files are essentially disappeared (possibly recoverable at great expense by using a Drive Savers).

If you don't reformat or use a "recovery partition" (that is, you did a "repair" install), then it is possible that your data may be recoverable.  More you continue to use the computer, however, over the likelihood that the data is unrecoverable.

  • After you have reinstalled Windows XP, the video settings are not correct

    Original title: parameters viedo

I had to reformat and reinstall XP.  Everything works except for things like graphics, cards and other games and some pictures.  They are very wide and short.   I guess it's something in the video settings defined in landscape mode, but I can't find where.   Can anyone help.

    Thank you

    Caz

You probably just set your screen resolution to match your monitor.
Right-click on an empty area of your desktop and select 'Properties', then click on the 'Settings' tab at the top.
At the bottom left there is a box of "Screen Resolution."  Drag the marker to change the screen resolution to a setting that matches your monitor...  You determine this by the ratio of the width to the height.  Some common resolutions to the dimensions of the screen are the following:

    4:3 = 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 960, 1600 x 1200
    5:4 = 1200 x 1024
    8:5 = 1440 x 900, 1680 x 1050
    16:9 = 1280 x 720, 1776 x 1000, 1920 x 1080 (widescreen)

After you change this setting and click on 'OK', the screen will become to this resolution.  It will give you a few seconds to confirm that the monitor can display this resolution. If you see the screen, click on 'OK '.  If your screen is empty, don't panic but just wait 30 seconds approximately and your screen will return.
