Can I reinstall Windows vista 64 bit with a product key.

Original title: Switch system

I have a 64-bit Windows license and the product code on my computer. Caused by a virus I took it to a repair store. Back in the Properties section it now shows as a 32-bit system and is included in the new product code the letters OEM. Can I reinstall the original 64 bit system using the product code? If I do I risk reinfecting my system with the virus? It is common for repair shops to install another operating system?

Take it back to the store and get it repaired, or give back yo your money.

    original title: Windows activation problem.

I have windows vista 64-bit. I installed 2 or 3 years ago and wanted to reformat because I bought a few new parts. So I reformatted and reinstalled windows, but it's now, it tells me that my key is invalid for activation. Is my drive that I bought and it worked before, why now it does not work after reformatting?

How to activate Windows 7 or Vista manually (activate by phone)
    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
    (2) press the ENTER"" key.
    (3) select your "country" in the list.
    (4) choose the option "activate phone".
    5) stay on the phone (do not select/press options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.
    (6) clearly explain your problem to the support person.
    (7) the person must give you a confirmation ID, copy it down on paper,
    (8) check that the ID is correct in reading the support person.
    (9) to enter the ID number, then click 'Next' to complete the activation process.

  • I reinstalled windows vista went to type the product key in and said it was already in use

When I reinstalled windows Vista Home Basic and registry said that the product key is already in use

    Hey,.

On the activation window, click on change product key and enter the same product key that you used for your installation, and then click Update. This will generate a new installation ID. Try to activate by phone with the new installation ID.

Can we install windows vista 32 bit OS on a computer that is pre installed with windows 7 64-bit OS?

@ Ken... I tried installinng windows vista by using the recovery disk that will get a customer with the computer dell laptop... and then he was trying to install vista on my computer... It works fine when installing files, but it is and stucks where he says 'finish installation' and he won't do anything after that... I tried to restart my computer and I could see Microsoft coportation logo and then my computer stucks to this screen and wont connect in... not sure what exactly to do... by the ways for your reply thanks

You cannot use recovery discs to install with, if not for the exact model computer that you install.  You need a full installation detail of the model of Vista operating system you want to install since you don't downgrade your operating system to a system that offers no right of demotion.
  • Internet worked well until I have Reinstalled windows vista 64 bit, now my Internet does not work, says that I don't have a driver from the Internet.

Internet worked well until I reinstalled windows vista 64 bit on my Dell laptop, now my Internet does not work. Went into Device Manager and there is no network adapter. I tried to reinstall the driver that came with my laptop disk but it doesn't seem to work, says that I need an updated driver. I don't know what else to do, I have to install a new driver from the Internet? Ugh becomes very frustrated!

    http://support.Dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=Gen

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/laptop > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for the latest Vista drivers > download/install them.

The computer you are using now if you have an Internet connection with the other > download / save drivers > copy them into Flash Drive > transfer / install on another computer/laptop.

  • I lost my disc of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OME. Can I use a disc of Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack 64 - bit with my product key OME to do a re-install?

I lost my disc of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OME. Can I use a disc of Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack 64 - bit with my product key to make a re-install?

My father still has his Win 7 Home Premium Family Pack disc left, would that be a problem using it.
I lost my disc of OME, but I got the product key on my PC, so I still have that.
Or if there is another way to re - install Windows without a disc?
    Kind regards
    Peter

    Hi Peter,.

Yes, you can use the same product key when reinstalling windows.

Note: If you are facing a problem while activating, I recommend you contact the factory system since you are using an OEM computer.

  • How can I reinstall windows 7 prof back on without the key?

    greatfull for some advice please

If factory reset my book, return to windows 7 basic, how can I reinstall windows 7 prof back on without the key. I downloaded from windows upgrade when I got it, and he will return on the same computer it was installed on.
    Thank you.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade from Windows 7 Home Basic to Windows 7 Professional. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

Your product key for Windows 7 Professional should have been sent to your email address if you bought it on the Microsoft Store.

Find your key product if your purchase of Microsoft Store:
    http://store.Microsoft.com/Help/FAQ?Err=T2#AT2

If you have Windows 7 Professional installed, you can retrieve the key now:

Here are four utilities, which can display your product keys if they are still there:
    Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
(He did a good job of providing a wealth of information.)

    Also: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml
    and: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html
and RockXP: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4138.html which has additional features.

There is no Express of Home Basic Upgrade to the professional, so you have bought a license for sale at retail.

Because it has been previously installed, you may need to reactivate by phone:

    Activate Windows 7 manually:
    1. click on start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    2. press enter on your keyboard

    3. Select your country.
    4. Select the telephone activation option and brace yourself for a real person.

  • I would like to know how to re - install windows on a laptop with the product key on the back of the laptop.

install windows with the product key

someone I gifted an old laptop with a lot of things about what I don't want and stuff I want is missing. I would like to know how to re - install windows on the laptop with the product key on the back of my laptop.

or, even better, if someone could find me a way to get a disk to restore to factory without purchasing information, which would be awsome.

I thank you for your time and have a good day.

If the laptop is one of the well known brands, he may well have a restore partition.  If you do not have a manual to the user of this computer, then go to the manufacturers website and look for the documentation.  At the very least, you should be able to find information about how to restore the laptop from the recovery partition.

If the restore partition has been decimated, the manufacturer may still have available for a nominal cost of installation diskettes.

  • After reinstall Window Vista 32 bit, I can't move the slider to increase the resolution of the screen, how do I solve this problem

My Dell Inspiron 530 sudenlly crashed, I could not start it. I called for the support of a group that I paid for. Technicians helped me start the PC, but they could not fix the screen resolution: in the display settings window, the cursor is on the left end of the bar, the low position and could not be moved. The technician finally asked me to save the folders files and reinstall Windows Vista. After the relocation, the screen resolution problem persisted. Technicians then reformat the HD, then reinstall Windows Vista again, the result was the same. We cannot change the resolution. Help, please.

  • Can I upgrade Windows Vista 32-bit to Windows Vista 64 - Bit and preserve everything?

I have a computer with Windows Vista 32 - Bit OS.  I have also 4 GB of RAM, but as the OS is 32-bit, he acknowledges that 3 out of 4 GB.  So, my question is, can I upgrade to a version 64 bit Vista and preserve files and programs, or what I have to buy a copy of Windows Vista 64-bit?

    Thank you

    Hello.

No.; You cannot switch from 32-bit to 64-bit.

It must be done with a new installation of the 64-bit operating system.

There has never been a way to upgrade.

You should backup your data, copy it into the 64 bit OS and reinstall all your programs

    Microsoft sells more than Vista.

And before you buy Windows 7:

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

"Windows 7 Compatibility Center" for software and hardware:

How can I reinstall Vista without a disk?

    Thank you.

I think that you have not looked in the user manual. This, because there you can find a lot of information how do I reinstall Windows Vista.

However, the computer Toshiba laptop with Vista have a HARD drive recovery function. On the second partition is a file called "HDDRecovery". It contains the image of the factory settings, and so you can reinstall the laptop without CD/DVD.

In addition, you can also burn the recovery disks with the Toshiba recovery disc creator and you should do it too. If a faulty HARD drive or something else you need this floppy and otherwise, you must pay for it.

  • Can I install Windows vista 64-bit for free if I have the 32-bit version preinstalled (OEM)?

I have Windows Vista 32 bit pre-installed on my computer and now I'm ready to add more memory to my machine.

I've already paid for Windows Vista, when I bought my Dell computer a few years (I "réinstallation DVD Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit").

I guess I can legally get and install the 64 bit version of the same operating system (I mean for free, of course)?   I don't want to pay for Windows 7.

Whether or not it is an option would be between you and Dell.  Copies of the retail Windows come with two discs, but OEM copies that are sold with computers come with one or the other, the one that you ordered when you ordered the computer.  If Dell doesn't want to or can't provide you with a copy, then no one else is able to.
