Can I remove the winmail.dat files?

A recipient asking several times if I sent his attachments, when there is not, or cannot open a PDF encoded winmail.dat.  Can I fix this?

I was composing in plain text format, and it had the value to convert RTF to plain text, but Outlook by default to allow the program to decide the format to send my e-mail signature, which created a link.  Here, my email is passed the link.

Thank you.  Another friend in a large company blocked my emails.  Maybe I have solved my problem.

Good evening! I just a quick may be a dumb question... when I've updated my computer, if I remove the before update... like when a service pack number, as for example I downloaded the number of service pack 2 What do I do with the number of the service pack 1? delete it?

Depends on the operating system - Windows

Please note this is only for Windows XP and is not on Vista or Windows 7

Folders that have uninstall as part of the name (for example $NtUninstallKB282010$ who reside in C:\windows (hidden files) are window Hot difficulty updating folders/files) can be removed safely (providing ever, you wish to uninstall the updates). I recommend you leave these records for a period of at least one month to make sure that the update works correctly.

These updates can be removed individually or together. To learn more about the update/s go on:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/xxxxxx
NB: XXXXXX = the actual number, not to mention the "Q" or "Ko."

Once you have removed the uninstall folders/files, then go to control panel, add/remove programs. Select the title of the corresponding Windows fix on the folder/file of the patch you just deleted, and select Delete. You will get a Windows error. This is because you deleted the uninstall folder/files. Simply choose OK and the entry will be removed from the Add/Remove Programs list.

    For Vista and Windows 7

The update uninstall method in Windows Vista is quite different from that in Windows XP.

Uninstaller for each update folder no longer exists in Vista and the uninstall information is stored by the Volume Shadow Copy service.

After each update, Volume Shadow Copy service backup only the updated files.

So with Vista, it's a differential backup, rather than a full backup files for uninstall
    in Windows XP.

This safeguard mechanism is used to save disk space.

So basically, you are unable to manually delete the uninstall it from the computer.

  • How can I remove the existing driver files to overcome (Code 39) USB drivers?

I am running Vista Home Premiun 32 and generally have few problems for about 18 months because my laptop came with the operating system installed.

Recently, my USB drivers do not work (as in the drivers of USB controller rather than the connected devices). Device displays the symbol of my USB controllers and gives code 39 error Manager, that's to say the drivers are install correctly, but Windows is unable to run. Windows can certainly find and identify devices.

    Two things happened before that:
    (1) I have receieved some windows updates.
    (2) I installed a backup software which seems to have prevented windows start: I had to uninstall the software by using regedit via the command prompt, and then, everything seemed fine.

It may, however, have been a problem that has just reached the point of crisis, given that windows has grown more glitch with my wireless adapter built-in and now don't see any; I think it's connected via USB controllers.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the USB controllers. I even deleted the INF cache and repeated the process of re - install.

Now, I want to delete the files from the driver completely from the driver store. Existing files are old (modification dates are from the beginning of 2008, or even from 2006), and I want to force Windows to find entirely new software drivers. When I uninstall, I not give me the option to delete files. When I try to delete them manually, I find that I don't have the correct security permissions to do so. Windows doesn't let me change the permissions, simply showing the menus change with the buttons greyed out.

This problem is in danger of turning my laptop a doorstop; There, someone at - it a solution?

    Thanks for any help,
    Ackers

  • How can I remove the Photoshop Temp File for good? (PS CS 4)

    Hello

I have a problem on my PC. Since this Saturday if gives me the error "could not complete because full discs...» »

I have read every blog/forum and even called the call center of photoshop without any help...

Some of the solutions I've tried are the following:

-Deleted all my Temp files (as I normally do every week)

-Defragment my hard drives (done weekly)

    -Deletion of all unused software

-Bought and installed a new hard drive (1 TB) to use as storage for this Temp file

-All cleared the Cache and Cookies on my Browser

-Use of the memory of Photoshop to 70%

-Uninstalled Photoshop (PC Shutdown) and then re-installed and the Temp file is always there and it is much bigger than before

Basically, I tried everything I could.

What happens is that this Photoshop Temp 12389772616 file (44.6 concerts and increasing) cannot be seen when Photoshop is active or running and can not be deleted under these circumstances. When Photoshop is closed, it disappears as well. I don't know what else to do about it. When I re - allocate what is called a virtual file/disk to another hard disk, Photoshop slows and crashes more... I was thinking of buying the new Photoshop CS 5, but I am now, NOT wanting to take the risk, but it has served me well for a year so far.

: NB is there any way I can reduce the size of this file virtual (Temp) or completely remove?

    My PC Specs are:

Processor - Dual Core (2.3 GHz)

    Operating system - Windows 7

Hard disk space - 1 TB, 500 GB and 250 GB x 2 (space is not a problem)

    Graphics - 8800 G - Force (512 MB) with GPU (PCI Express)

Can anyone please help me or guide me on how to this mess?

File slow opening is perhaps due to the default printer. This is a known bug and has been reported several times in the forum.

The solution, weird as it may seem, is to make a printer driver generic default printer. If you do not, you can download it here:

Oh yes and try resetting your preferences (again) as described in the FAQ.

AVG has moved my files from Windows Installer in a vault because of a Trojan horse.  Have I not need these files, and how to restore it without the Trojan horse goes with them?

If files are missing or it cannot repair them after running SFC, in most cases there is no need to do a full recovery of Windows, like the other poster advised you to do.

Since XP from, you have the option to do a repair Installation to solve problems, thus keeping all of your programs, settings, and data intact.

    Hello

Try the following and see if it helps.

I suggest you perform a disk check and check if it helps.

    See the following steps:

    a. open the computer by clicking the Start button, click computer.

    b. click the drive you want to check, and then click Properties.

    c. click on the Tools tab and then, under error-checking, click Find now.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    d. to automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will be a problem, but not to fix them.

    e. to carry out a thorough, check select search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. This analysis tries to find and repair physical errors on the disk itself, and it may take much longer to complete.

    f. to check for errors file and the physical errors, select both automatically fix errors in file system and search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

    g. click on start.

Note: When running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

Note: Make sure also that you have disconnected all external devices except the keyboard and mouse.

Note: If you are always faced with the question then I suggest you to upgrade on the spot and check if it helps.

What's up guys?, I have a Compaq Presario supplied with the Windows Vista operating system, 32-bit. I backed up all my drivers on DVD and I downloaded a clean copy of Vista using an ISO on a DVD burner. I reinstalled the new copy put in my original product key, and he agreed. I reinstalled my drivers and all seems to work fine. I transferred all my data, mp3, jpeg, etc. for Flash readers and/or new programs on the new OS. • Can I remove the file 'SaveData.mig' after I run Windows Easy Transfer?

Can I remove the file 'SaveData.mig' after I run Windows Easy Transfer?

I used easy transfer to move files from an old computer to my new about 12 months ago. The SaveData.mig file takes 22 GB of space on the new computer. I would like to remove it but I don't know if it will mess up all my files that have been transferred to my new computer. Anyone know if I can delete this file in order to free up space? Thank you

I agree with Mohdrafi - you can remove safely; However, you should have a more recent backup of your current files just to be on the right side (image FULL weekly backup and an incremental backup every day for an external HARD drive - I've seen too many people get burned when their drive hard breaks down or something worse and then they lose all their precious documents (, photos, audio and other files).  There ARE recovery procedures, but they don't always work, and they don't always get everything (especially if you expect to solve the problem or continue to use the PC in the meantime)- and depending on your version of Vista.  Delete this file will NOT affect the files and settings that you restored using the process.  Could have deleted it hours after that the process has been done (once you have a good backup) and it would have been very well then.  If you have a good backup, I can see no reason whatsoever to keep the file.

If the normal delete function in Vista doesn't work, try using one of the following free products to remove the file.  Unlocker to: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Unlocker.shtml or file Assassin http://www.malwarebytes.org/fileassassin.php (with or without forcing the deletion: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/12/27/force-delete-cannot-delete-locked-or-in-used-files-or-folders-with-fileassassin/). These programs often work when normal functions remove Vista not work correctly.

Congratulations to the use of Easy Transfer - this is a pretty cool tool isn't it?  Not sure how many threads that we have here people with issues or recoving given him--I saw a lot.  It seems easy on the surface, but when it doesn't work it can become quite complex and aggravating (and I know people who have unfortunately never were able to retrieve their data and settings no matter what we tried).

    I hope this helps.
