Can I run Window7 on one hard drive and keep my old Windows XP disk separtate on the same computer?

I want to up grade my OS to Windows 7, but continue to use my Windows XP on a separate drive for my Office 2003 and the company's records. I would like to know if this is possible, and my bios will give me a choice, startup, which driver I would like to load?

Hello

Before purchasing Windows 7, see if your computer can run.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

Just, I got my new Dell's HARD drive and need to install it in my Dim 9200. Can I use the old hard drive as a backup drive or secondary without deleting anything or reformatting? I have too many things on the old drive and am not crazy about cloning, I prefer to do a clean install of XP and be able to do things more when I feel the need. Is this possible or am I dreaming.

After installing the new drive hard SATA and windows installation, etc. and when it works to your satisfaction, put the 'old' drive as the secondary, transfer all the files and folders you need in the new C: / volume, using the option "send to."  Providing the old hard drive has no problems, then the format and partition the drive for additional storage.

Note. Only files and folders can be transferred, all programs and applications must be reinstalled from their records, or downloaded from the site of the publishers.

  • How can I update my Windows XP system on a larger hard drive and keep all my data and programs?

    New hard drive.

I'm going to install a new hard drive of 250 GB. The old man has only 20 GB. I have Windows XP SP3 and my PC is a Dell Dimension 8100. How can I reset my new HD with all the programs, and what is the correct order?

Use Clonezilla to copy the old drive to the new drive. Once complete, go into the bios and set to boot from the new drive and then save by pressing F10.

Once you get to Windows, you can configure one or more partitions on the empty space of the new drive with disk management. In addition, you can now format your old drive if you wish.

  • It works and I can still use it? Motherboard, hard drive, and microsoft (dell) product key.

I have a dell mini tower with a windows 7 product key for teacher about it.

Some time before, I wanted to clean and replace the i5 processor. When I replaced the Interior I broke 2 pins. (on 1156)

I know, I did it in the rough.

I bought a new Board of Directors and I replaced the old motherboard for dell with the new of gigabyte.

When I started the computer up, he asked for the key to production.  So I did what she wanted me to do. After some time I got the error (0XC004E003) that the key was already used. Is it normal when you replace a motherboard?

What is a big problem that I now have a different motherboard? Because in this case I have to buy a new motherboard to new one on the right.

Let me know if I'm right or not, the best way to solve a problem with a key production is trying to reactivate it by phone?

Change the motherboard OEM license invalid. You will need to purchase a new license of Windows 7 or take your chance and contact technical support:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

You can find software OEM System Builder of dozens of online merchants. The current price for OEM Windows 7 Professional Newegg, for example, is $ 140. When I checked a few minutes ago, Amazon offered packages OEM Windows 7 Professional from several vendors at prices ranging from $ 101 to $ 150. When I checked earlier, a package specifically designed for reconditioned PCs cost only $ 50 for a 64-bit copy.

There is no technical limitation to prevent you from using OEM software on your computer, although this software only works for a clean install, not an upgrade. In the past, Microsoft has been remarkably inconsistent in his advice to clients on the question of whether this practice is allowed. (See "is allowed to use Windows OEM on your own PC? Don't ask Microsoft. »)

Different Service Packs for different products: Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Office Word XP (2002).

Showing you not only where to download them from, but how to find things.

In this case, using an Internet (Google) search engine to search for:

Service Pack 3 for "Windows XP".

And (if this link is clicked on it to see the results) you can see what has been found.

It would have resulted in the first link...
How to obtain the latest Windows XP service pack

    However, the second link:
Windows XP Service Pack 3 network installation Package for IT professionals and developers

... is everything (a single downloadable file can be installed to).

Download that direct link: Windows XP SP3

Once you have downloaded and the system in question, double-click it to run it, and you go.  There are 90 + updates * after * SP3.  ;-)

  • I already have one zero drive for FCP 7 projects implemented.  I would use the same scratch drive for FCP 10.  Is there a special way of implementation is seamless?

Said to implement the scratch disc so I can use the same hard drive for FCP 7 and 10 projects - something on a folder separated for 10 projects.  What are the steps to do t his?

More details would be useful. You have already imported media in FCP7? Or you are just starting to work with both applications at the same time? What application you plan to use to ingest media? Don't try to use them both for ingest.  You can set FCPX to use the FCP7 Capture Scratch location for your support and then let the media imported in place. You can also assign a location for media to import using FCPX and then use this location for FCP7, again leaving the media in place.

Or I totally misunderstood and you only talking about using the same drive, which is not a problem at all.
