Can I sort my unsorted bookmarks?

I had IE. I have a lot of favorites that I organized into folders. Is it possible that I can: 1) transfer in the Firefox bookmark files? (I transferred and they appear in Firefox under "From Internet Explorer" - but I want in Firefox). (2) if I create several folders in "Unsorted Bookmarks", is there a way I can sort them?

Yes, in fact, I can't even see why the folder has been created in the first place, because
the tail of the bookmarks Menu was really the same. In fact, the reason was that with "tags" person would need records, a Firefox tag makes no sense in my favorites and would do for twice as many bookmark folders.

To sort bookmarks, I recommend that you use separators to bookmark especially at the end of the very large folders, so new material don't mingle with the main a folder until you spent you reviewed, modified, accept it and maybe to classify it by moving it in a subfolder somewhere...

The "SortPlaces" extension allows you to sort your bookmarks, it takes about the same time so he can sort all of your bookmarks as Firefox takes to sort a small folder of bookmarks. This extension and other useful information can be found in the link...

and since I have and use this extension it may be of additional information about this extension on my own web page. (link fixed 2011-08-10)

and I have a suggestion it doesn't sort does not automatically, I don't know if this is still the default, but this isn't a good thing to do. Like after you have gone through.

I also have sort my my personal bar and separators of bookmark use to group for the most important things are somewhere near the Middle, so I see them always, even when you use a window half of the width of the screen.

Missed the part about the import of IE and create subfolders in unsorted bookmarks. Do not create subfolders in unsorted bookmarks, they should be in the Menu bookmarks, Bookmarks Toolbar, or left in the any folder named "Internet Explorer" and the last would be my preference.

To import your IE bookmarks you suggest to use 'Alt' first if you don't see the bar menu, then file > import > in Internet Explorer. The other way would be to go through the "import and backup" library of Favorites (Ctrl + Shift + B) list that could be a disaster if it merges records together.

    COR - el: thanks for the quick response. It has not solved the problem, but something that you said does not lead to a solution.

    To reformulate the problem, there was a lot of bookmarks, which appeared in the drop-down menu that simply cannot be deleted.

    I was able to delete 'normal' bookmarks by bringing their respective pages on the left by clicking on the star in "Edit this bookmark" which appears near the right end of the URL field and then clicking "Delete bookmark" from the context menu that appears. In this case, the star would be yellow and in the popup, the folder would be called bird "Bookmarks Menu".

    Where I couldn't delete the bookmark, the star would be white and the record would be qualified bird "Unsorted Bookmarks."

    It made no difference if I started firefox in safe or normal mode.

    It had been years that I used the bookmarks bar and I had completely forgotten it existed. You mentioned it in your response, however, and I decided to try it. Bingo! In the sidebar, I could with the right Bookmark button and then click 'remove '. It worked even for bookmarks that I could not remove any other way.

  • Unsorted Bookmarks FF6.0 CAN not be remove or moved

    I upgraded firefox again 6 and there is this terrible bookmarks unsorted bookmarks menu. If is forced to the bottom which use to me and it's embarrassing. There seems to be no way to delete or move to a location that you have chosen. It is nice to have new features, some people may like this, but to make them static, so people who do not like this can't turn them off is not what use firefox as it seems, are becoming more like internet explore. If there is a way to move it or remove it, it would be useful.

    Sorry, this folder has been added to that scrolling in Firefox 6.0 because other users have complained that the Unsorted Bookmarks folder was not in this menu drop-down, and they would not have access to this folder through the sidebar or the Library window. Goes to show that you cannot satisfy all users, all the time.

    The Menu Editor extension has not worked for the menu bookmarks since versions of Firefox 2. IMO, it was never properly being updated so that changes made to the system of bookmarks for versions of Firefox 3 +. We are probably happy that it works at all that several years after the original developer stop updating itself.

    This works for me to hide it for me in the drop-down menus bar both the bookmarks BTB button (does not remove the separator it) 6.0. Either add it as a new script in Stylish or to a userChrome.css file that you create.

     @namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);

    /* Hide "Unsorted Bookmarks" in bookmarks toolbar menu button and the menu bar drop-down */
    #menu_unsortedBookmarks,
    #bookmarksMenuPopup > menuseparator[builder="end"]
    {display:none!important;}

    #BMB_unsortedBookmarks {
      display: none !important }

    I combined this user script with the script mentioned in one of the comments about this user script.

  • Get rid of the 'Unsorted Bookmarks' in FF 30

    30 FF is apparently hard-coded. "Unsorted Bookmarks" is now at the end of my well sorted list. I want to get rid of, permanently delete, kick on the sidewalk. It's the kind of ugly with this thing hanging out there.

    I'm using Linux Mint Debian Edition fwiw. I checked in all the subject: config options as well as the permissions on the mes.mozilla/firefox/mwadxxyy.default folder carefully. There seems to be no easy way to get rid of it. It is capable-undelete.

    All solutions?

    The file userChrome.css (UI) customization and userContent.css (Web sites) are located in the folder of chrome in the Firefox profile folder.

    • Create the folder chrome (lowercase) in the .default < xxxxxxxx > profile folder if the folder does not exist
    • Use a text editor such as Notepad to create a userChrome.css (new) file in this folder (the names are case-sensitive)
    • Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the Editor window and make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line
    • Make sure that you select "All files" and not "text files" when you save the file via "save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css. Otherwise, Windows can add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with one does not not userChrome.css.txt file
  • HOW DO WITHOUT LOSING THE UNSORTED BOOKMARKS BOOKMARKS

    When I imported my favorites after a system crash all finished in the UNSORTED BOOKMARKS list. When I have the TAGS and put them in them the bookmark remains also in UNSORTED BOOKMARKS. If I delete the bookmark in UNSORTED BOOKMARKS the bookmark in the tag is also removed. How can I get the bookmarks in the TAGS I want and UNSORTED BOOKMARKS without losing them? I've been loading bookmark and then make a TAG for what it or using one already made and put the bookmark in the appropriate tag but the bookmark is also still in UNSORTED BOOKMARKS. I have read and tried all the information in the FIREFOX HELP and asked this question in the RESEARCH, but everything that happens does not help. I am not a teenager and I know that my mind is not as sharp as it once was, but I'm still pretty computer savvy, so I can follow instructions well enough, but I can't seem to overcome this problem. Can someone help me plese? I have FIREFOX 26.0 and am running WINDOWS 7, 64 bit.

    The Tags file is simply a folder that shows the bookmarks that are stored elsewhere and have a tag.
    If you delete a bookmark in the file of the tag you do not delete the bookmark, but only then remove its label and keep the bookmark.
    However, if delete you the bookmark delete you the bookmark and if all bookmarks the label have been removed, then the tag is deleted as well.
    If you need to cut and paste the bookmarks and move them out of the folder not sorted to another folder, and you must keep the tags.

    I guess you have imported an HTML backup and does not include HTML tags and other annotations backup as does a JSON backup.

    Hi, if you click once on the star, the bookmark will automatically Unsorted Bookmarks. • By clicking on the star in the toolbar navigation go to bookmark the page in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star lights in blue to show that
    • Bookmarks > 'Bookmark this Page' (Ctrl + D) going to bookmark the page in the folder of bookmarks Menu (you will need to confirm that)

    There are three main folders of bookmarks and bookmarks can be created only in one of these folders and its subfolders.

    • The folder "Personal bar" stores the bookmarks that you see in the bookmarks toolbar (Firefox > Options or view > toolbars).
