Can I switch to Win 7 SP1 of Vista Home Basic (without Service Pack)?

Hello, currently I run Vista home basic 32-bit without the service Pack installed. I did once try and install but I got was a never-ending startup sequence (the BONES do not start) and I had to restore a backup copy of previous Vista before installing SP1. So it's just a quick question: can I go directly to Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1 without having all the service packs currently? I don't have a lot of free time to do a clean install and restore programs and games, and configure them.

Microsoft recommends that you have at least Service Pack 1 installed.

You can try to install without MS, if you wish.

And if you have a problem, follow this information.

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, first of all the installation of SP1.

Vista SP1 32-bit (x 86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=30

Vista SP1 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21299

Vista SP2 32-bit (x 86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16468

Vista SP2 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17669

QUESTION ABOUT THE PROBLEM TO START WITH MY ORIGINAL WINDOW VISTA HOME BASIC 32 BIT DVD

    Hi all

I was delivered with a window vista home basic 32-bit MS CD original while I buy Lap Top, I reinstalled windows multiple times using the same CD, it is used since October 2009, now when I try to boot from it, its does not work. What can I do in this situation?

    Concerning

    Alex

Is the support clean and free from scratches?  Have you determined that it is the drive that is the problem and not the drive itself?  Did you ensure that the BIOS is configured to boot from the optical device before the HARD drive?

  • Centro not sync-ing for Win XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3

My new Palm Centro can't synchronize Palm Desktop running on Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3.  The Palm "getting started" Troubleshooting (very polite and free) told me I could go back to Service Pack 2, or upgrade to Vista.  There is a kind of incompatibilities between SP3 and current HotSync Manager.  I'm going to buy a Mac before I go to Vista, and do move back is unattractive.  Anyone know of another work around?

The problem was that Agendus 4.31 does not work with Palm Desktop 6.x.  You must upgrade to a newer Agendus.  After some research by me and iambic, the manufacturers of Agendus, we discovered that I was given bad advice about the compatibility of the Agendus older and latest Palm Desktop.  Once I bought and installed an upgrade, things started working properly.

    • Apparently, I don't know when to press F9 or something else, at what time, or to put the second of the 2 original discs in.  As I understand it, disc #1 is the OS DVD, disc #2 is Application and Driver Recovery DVD (?). Copyright dates on these are 2007 & 2008. Also, I have the product key.

In addition, more my arisen Internet research a small window is to say unable to connect to the page, OPERATION ABANDONED...

  • If I restore to factory settings... can I still update Vista RTM (without service pack) to Service Pack 2?

Hi I want to restore my laptop to factory settings, it would be me to Vista RTM (Vista without service pack)

I noticed that the support for Vista RTM (without service pack) has ended on April 13, 2010...

If I do a factory restore, I'll be able to upgrade my laptop Vista RTM to service pack 2, or I will stay with a PC I can't update?

    Hello

You will still be able to download and install service packs. Either way, you need to install SP1 before installing SP2.

The mandate of support is that some updates and support will be unavailable to those who refuse to install the SP

  • Problems to install a downloaded version of Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 on my mac through VMWARE FUSION

    Hi all

I hope you can help as I'm going crazy! It's my first MAC if im a complete noob.

Me being lazy has decided to download Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 from https://emea.microsoftstore.com/UK/DesktopDefault.aspx/tabid-2/ site

It contains 3 files which I had to download separately:

    Vista_HomeBasic_SP1_32bit_English_Download_Part1_66G - 02017.exe

    Boot.wim

    install.wim

Once I had downloaded these. I pulled the top of VMWARE AU12EME 2 but could not detect anything. If I then wacked out on a memory stick and ran the .exe on my windows pc. This integrated then all the files I downloaded a good big folder of Vista.

So once again I pulled up to VMWARE fusion 2.0 but still nothing. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I heard people talking that I need an ISO file? But I searched all files that I downloaded and installed, and there is nothing similar. The only thing I can think is that I need to burn the VISTA folder I extracted from my pc to DVD and try running disk on my Mac. But that would make a difference that I tried to run from my DESKTOP MAC key and memory? In addition, there is no ISO files.

Please HELP I'm worried that I just lost my money!

I did a little research, and it was one of the best hits on How to make Vista DVD bootable with WIM downloaded files that I think sums up your situation.

Because I had the file oscdimg.exe since Install Kit automated (Windows AIK) I gave it a try and it worked.  In other words, by using the folder of Vista and its content that has been created by you run the files you downloaded you should be able to create a Bootable ISO Image, which you can then use to create a DVD, if you have the right software to burn an ISO Image on DVD.  (Maybe you could do this on the Mac) Although if you want to you have even burn the ISO Image to DVD just copy it on the Mac and assign it to the CD/DVD in the settings of Virtual Machines.

Other documents you may find useful: Microsoft TechNet > TechNet Library > Windows > Windows Vista > Windows Vista technical library Roadmap > Windows Vista: deployment > Kit to install Windows Automated (Windows AIK) > Deployment Tools Technical Reference > Command - line Tools Technical Reference > Oscdimg command-line Options

Just to let you know that it took me about 20 minutes to do a search on Google and create the ISO Image and the test that I could start a VM in the Fusion and if you need to download and install the Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK) to get the oscdimg.exe file it obviously will take you a little longer, but it is doable and the solution vs safer trying to get the file oscdimg.exe or cdimage.exe from a link sent illegally into the file.

In any case the information presented here can solve your problem of creating a Bootable Image DVD/ISO.
