Can I use another set of recovery disks?

My sisters Pavilion p6537c lost his hard drive (Windows 7). She has no recovery disks and HP is no longer their offer. Can I use my brothers HP (I don't know the model) recovery disks? I understand that drivers will be different, but I can use them to get a return to work? I can find drivers.

Lacking, I have a copy of Windows 7, I can do a fresh install and use the key to windows 7 that came with the ch?

Thanks for any help,

Den

Hey Den,

Unless the other PC is identical (it is same OS, model No. discs, etc.) then the recovery will not work on PC of your sisters - the disks read one "tattoo" on the bios chip to ensure that they are used on the machine, they were intended.

However, it there's no reason that you can not install Windows 7 using your installation of the retail disc, and then use the character product activation key 25 on your COA label (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games) sisters.

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

Enter the key when asked and then use the 'phone method' described in the link below to activate the installation...

I made the one and only set of recovery disks, following the instructions.

Now, I get an alert in HP Advisor instucting me to make recovery disks.

Why would I receive this alert?

P8, it sounds to me like HP Advisor did not get the message. I would try to make the disks again to see what happens.  If it lets you do, HP Advisor should be satisfied.  If this isn't the case, maybe that will satisfy HPA, also.

  • Hi can I use xp for dv2000 recovery disk to downgrade a dv2000 with preinstalled vista thank you

    Hello

I have 2 laptops of dv2000 with different model No, s

one with xp factory mounted and the other with factory installed vista

can I use the xp from the computer recovery disks laptop xp

to downgrade vista to xp or is it better to install windows 7 please

    Thank you very much

    maggieglanville

    Hello:

You probably have to downgrade your laptop from Vista to XP, but you do not have a license (right to downgrade) to do with Microsoft.

Normally, the desktop and professional laptops only received rights to downgrade to XP due to risk of operations undertaken grinding halt because of software with some programs and Vista incompatiblities.

Personally, it is best to switch to Windows 7.

Since your laptop with Vista, it can run Windows 7. For all the missing drivers you may need to you can use normally drivers Vista on the support page and the driver of your laptop.

In addition, you can read through this guide for dv2000 for Windows 7 upgrade.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium OA product key can be used only with the recovery disk?

I bought an Acer laptop, he arrived with Windows 7 Home Prem OA sticker behind. I've heard, if you want to reinstall windows, we can only use Acer Recovery Disc for this product keys? Is this right? Can I use any other Windows 7 Home Prem CD and install it and then I put the product key of the laptop, it can also?

    Thank you

You can use a disk from Windows 7 Home Edition Premium authentic retail.

There is no need to separately download OEM or retail of Windows 7 RTM installation DVD ISO, as the release of Windows 7 installation can be easily converted using simply the correct product key (for example OEM_SLP product key can convert an installation of Windows 7 at retail in OEM version), as issued by the OEM product keys has a different basis of the retail product key. For ISO of DVD images, the only difference between a Windows 7 RTM retail ISO and ISO of OEM of Windows 7 RTM is in position of EI.cfg file [channel], which specifies the sales channel to retail or OEM.

  • I have the product ID's but no disc. How can I request filter spare or can I use another dish of my other system?

Can not find the disc, but have the code

We have 2 desktop computers and my husband needs reinstalled operating system but we can't find the disc for it. I have the product ID for his. Can I use my drive to install Windows but equip the correct product of his computer ID?

    Hello

You cannot use recovery to another computer brand and model for resettlement purposes discs.

Your husband can contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

It depends on what drive you are talking about when you ask if you can use your drive:

If you have a DVD of Vista from Microsoft, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/84488-activate-Vista-phone.html

    See you soon.

PS You need the product key; not the product I.D. for resettlement purposes.

The product key is 25 digits, divided into 5 sets of 5 numbers

  • Where can I get a Vista system recovery disk.

I have recently upgraded to Windows 7.  I have problems with Windows 7 and must restore Vista and reload Windows 7. I get a black screen.

If you mean a drive where you can install a copy clean and complete the version of Vista that you had when you bought first the machine (assuming Vista came with the machine), then you must contact the manufacturer who usually will sell you at a modest price recovery disks.  If your system has / had a recovery partition, he may not been afferected by the upgrade.  In this case, it may be possible to use it to either restore Vista directly or to create a set of recovery disks Vista (you can ask manufacturing and ask how to access the partition if you have a (or will another assuming that you do not delete the upgrade) and how to use it to make recovery disks.)  You may need your Vista product key to activate it before making the upgrade to Windows 7 (or who may not necessary if you use recovery discs - it depends sometimes).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • S52060f Pavilion Slim Line: how create a set of recovery disks is service pack 1 burn on the disc

    Hello

No problems with one of my desktop windows 7 but have some questions and concerns.   Outside my thin line, I have 2 other computers hp windows 7.  They are p6510T CTO Desk Top clubhouse and Pavilion HPE H8m Desk Top.   I created my own set of recovery for each computer cd.   When I created the recovery discs, I don't remember if my computer came with service pack 1 preinstalled by buying them directly at Hp.     My first question is this.   Do plant purchased hp computers come with service pack 1 already preinstalled.

Next question.   If they do and the recovery discs that I burned for each service pack 1 image, too, be burned on the disks.   Finally.   Is there a limit to the way in which many times can I use my recovery by computer disks.

You place your order of recovery disks is not possible that they are discontinued.   I also undertand after reloading windows I can load the service pack 1 back when running a windows update.   But it is easier to have service pack 1 already imaged on any set of recovery disks.   If some can please please point this out.    Thank you.

If you create recovery discs when you got the computers, you can use them as many times as you want as long as they continue to work.  SP1 would not be included.  I don't think that they were not in what you received initially.  They come through Windows Update, see the center of update and the Service Pack

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/service-packs-Download#sptabs=Win7

The recovery disc for the p6510t are available at the surgeons of the computer if necessary:

The model s52060f turns out to be incorrect, please confirm.  The number of HPE H8m is incomplete, shall be read as

    HPE H8m K8300 for example.

Maybe you should look at the backup to hard disk image using something like Macrium reflect free.  Check it out:

I have created a recovery on a set of disks DVD media. As documented, the system will not allow the creation of other sets of recovery media.

    Why is this restriction exist?

Is there some way to create recovery media sets?

    Hello

The restriction is simply under the OEM license, but another option to consider is to use disk imaging software - if you are using Windows 7, this facility is shipped with the operating system and can be found by opening windows control panel, open Backup and restore, then click on create a link to the image to start the process - you can also choose the destination of the Image (IE on several external DVDs Hard Drive, etc.).

  • Can satellite L350 - I use the the L300 recovery disk?

Mate has a L350 who is tired and unfortunately has no recovery disk. I could use my recovery disc for my L300 model or making worse it?

You can try, but may be missing drivers or it can BSOD according to differences in hardware.

You can run from the HARD drive recovery? Press F8 when Windows starts and choose the option to repair/restore.

Otherwise, you will need to buy a replacement for Toshiba recovery disc.

  • Pavilion 17 TS PC notebook: How can I create another disc of recovery?

My laptop came with Windows 8, but I have recently installed windows 10. I made a disc of recovery originally but now I think I need to make another as operationg system has changed. How can I do that. I get the message that I am only allowed to create a recovery after disk and it has already been done.

    Hello:

A new set of recovery W10 media cannot be achieved in the conventional way.

W10 will install on the C:\drive with no changes made to the recovery partition.

What you can do after the installation of the W10 is to create an image of the installation process again once you have everything set up as desired.

There is an image option (windows 7) to create a system in the control panel.

Get a portable hard drive to save the system image on.  You can replace the image when you want with a newer version.

Then, go to the Microsoft site and create a media installation/repair Windows 10 from the link below.

    https://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/ windows10

To access the system image that you created, you start W10 (Flash DRIVE or DVD) media, you have created.

On the lower left side to install it right now the window is a repair option.  You select the repair to access the system image that you created.

Or with the media that you create from the link above, you can reinstall W10.

  • Floppy disks to install Windows have a related key or can I use the key with any disk?

    Re Activation:

I help people of disabnled. My blind customer has an OEM version completely crushed of XP and a damaged hard disk, so because there is no CD or the way to reinstall XP, I found an installation CD and, separately, a product code given to me by another disabled person who has dumped his computer and bought a new one. Each CD has its own code of tied product, or can they be separated like this?

Also is it possible to check a product code to ensure that it is valid and available for use?

    Waddi

I said yesterday a nearly identical request!

The machine should have a COA sticker on it (assuming that it is a large manufacturer or pre-installed).

The key is that the machine is 'owner' and must be valid.

If the machine is one of the major manufacturers, you can buy recovery discs on their part for this machine, which will restore it to its original state.

The disks do NOT have a key on them - any drive OEM System Builder for the same edition of XP (Home or Pro) should work well on this machine - but certainly, you will need to download the drivers for it if you get the recovery disks. (once - again see the site of the manufacturer for those)

  • Tecra M9 - where I can get hold of a cheap recovery disk

    Hi all.

I woke up this morning to find that my Tecra M9 doesn't let me access anything whatsoever on my desktop, including all documents and the internet.
Whenever I click on a file, it appears with a message saying that the memory could not be read.

Someone told me that it is caused by a virus and I have to use my drive for recovery back to the factory settings.
Problem is that I have not all discs, because it is an old laptop work.

Do anyone know where I can get hold of a recovery disc at a low price and I am likely to lose my OS?
I'm not great when it comes to IT...
