can I use easy transfer or transfer Assistant during the transition from XP to Vista / 7?

XP - XP Easy Transfer

What I can or I do not use Easy Transfer XP to Vista (or XP to Windows 7?) to transfer files, settings, etc. from a XP Pro (SP3) to another XP Pro PC, or what I need to use the files & Settings Transfer Wizard?  I can't find a definitive answer of 100% with it in correspondence of forum.  What if I transfer via an external hard drive or a shared network folder?

[I guess there is no XP easy transfer dedicated to XP tool]

Use the easy transfer program and send data on a cd or external hard drive.

The foregoing is for xp, but both vista and win7 already.

  • Can I use Easy Transfer to transfer my files and settinigs if my old Win 7 PC has a broken video card?

The video in my old Win 7 machine is broken.  I am particularly interested in the transfer of all of the settings on my new computer Win 8.  The old machine has an external hard drive for backup purposes, but I do not know if this includes the parameters or a few files.

Can I use easy transfer to access the internal hard drive, even if this computer has no video?  If there is no way to do it, my external backup disk has the parameters that I'm looking for and is accessible with Easy Transfer?  Other options?

You must be able to see and access Windows Easy Transfer of two computers - they must be running and able to interact with. He has no way to initiate a transfer to a computer that has access to a second computer, without checking on the second computer you establish a transfer.  No work around, no other way to do it.  None. Your backup drives or external work not either except maybe to find a few files that can be moved.

  • Can I use easy transfer of the hard disk Vista for 64-bit Windows 7 computer?

My computer laptop 32 bit vista is dead, but the hard drive is intact.  I can access it using a disk blacx disk drive hard usb.  All files seem to be good.  I gave the disc all permissions for changes, etc., so that it is not just to read only.  He sees my new laptop running windows 7 64 bit.  I found files in the record Office of the old drive so that part works.

I tried to use easy transfer in windows 7.  Installed on the old disk of vista.  But I can't launch the vista easy transfer since this computer is dead.

Is there a way I can transfer my emails, photos, documents and the itune files?

    Thank you.

You can use Knoppixhttp://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html with a good ISO as Copier: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm as well as a blank CD (made on a different computer).  This should give you sufficient access to the Vista system 'dead' (if you can not get in any other way) backup/transfer your important data (like everything else you mentioned) to the one you use (an external hard drive, flash player,...). You will not be able to save your settings or your programs because they require the enforcement system to use easy transfer and regular functions copy and paste will do the trick. If Knoppix doesn't work, try slaving the hard drive to another computer, and then after the data you want to save it.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Hi mikeverlaan,

You can't use Windows Easy Transfer to back up the entire operating system.

You can use Windows easy transfer to transfer files and the following parameters:

    • Files and folders
    • The e-mail settings
    • Contacts and messages
    • The program settings
    • User accounts and settings
    • Internet settings and Favorites

  • can I use easy transfer from Windows 7 to Windows Vista?

I'm moving my wife's laptop running Windows 7 to a desktop running Vista, I can't transfer easily to work just so I think that it might be impossible. Someone can tell me if it is possible to do or not?

You cannot use WET to transfer files from a computer that is running a 64-bit version of Windows to a running a 32-bit version, so make sure that both computers are running the same architecture.  I think you have to use version Vista of WET on both computers because Vista is the target computer.  Maybe that's a problem.  Microsoft has made many changes to WET for Windows 7.  All active links that I could find were to download the compatible version Windows 7 on XP and Vista and to transfers of these systems with a target of Windows 7.

  • Can we use Source accounting entity group to load the data from multiple entities with a single rule to load?

Page 79 of erpi_admin_11123200.pdf says that "reporting entity groups are used to extract data from several reporting entities in a single data rule execution.  I use standard EBS adapter to load data in HFM application, I created a group of entity made up of several accounting entities, but I can't find a place in FDMEE where you get to select/use this group... When you define an import format you type the name and select Source (e, g. EBS) system you can select Map Source (for example EBS11 I adapter) or the accounting entity (it is what I select to define data load maps), but not both.  Note that there is no place to select the Group of accounting entity...  Location check menu group entity drop-down but it doe not my group of accounting entity which I believe is anyway something different... and creating a location and pointing to a format compatible with the selected Source adapter is no not good either... I'm confused, so is it possible to load data from several reporting entities in one rule to load or am I misreading the documentation?  Thank you in advance.

Do not leave the field blank in the Import Format. If leave you empty to the place, when you set the rule to load data (for the location with EBS as a Source system), you will be able to select a single accounting entity or a group of accounting entity.

  • Can I use easy to get my old C: files/settings transfer?

My desktop XPSP3 is dead, but the hard drive is always good and is mounted in a USB enclosure attached to a new office with Windows 7 Home Premium. Can I use Easy Transfer on the new desktop to get my files and settings from the old drive XPSP3?  If so, how?  Thank you.

No, you will need to copy them manually.

You may need to take possession of some of the folders:

Windows 7 take ownership & grant permissions to access files & folder

To copy and paste a file:

    1. Open the location that contains the file you want to copy.

    2. Right click on the file and then click on copy.

    3. Open the location where you want to store the copy.

    4. Right-click on an empty space within the location and then click on paste. The copy of the original file is now stored in the new location.

For more information about copying multiple files, see select multiple files or folders.

    Tips

    • Another way to copy and paste files is to use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + C (copy) and Ctrl + V (paste).

    • You can also press on and hold the right mouse button and drag the file to the new location. When you release the mouse button, click on copy here.

    • You can copy and paste a folder in the same way as you would a file. When you do this, all the files in the folder are also copied.

(Stupid question, I guess, but I need some advice).

    Hi Harry,.

Yes, you can use a system image to transfer the data.

However, Windows Easy Transfer is a software assistant to transfer files and settings from one computer running Windows to another. You can transfer data from one user or multiple user accounts profile. Easy transfer Windows application will help you choose what to move to your new computer, you can set the transfer method to use and then performs the transfer. Once the transfer is done, Windows easy transfer reports displays what was transferred and provides a list of programs that you can install on your new computer, as well as links to other programs you can download.

With Windows Easy Transfer, files and settings can be transferred using a network, a flashdrive USB (UFD), or the easy transfer cable. However, you cannot use a regular universal serial (USB) bus cable to transfer files and settings using Windows Easy Transfer. You can buy a cable to transfer files on the Web, the manufacturer of your computer, or at an electronics store.
    noteNote
You can't use Windows Easy Transfer to move program files. Windows Easy Transfer can move only data and program settings. You must then install your software on the new computer.

Windows Easy Transfer, also, does not transfer any system files such as fonts and drivers. To do this, you must install custom and updated fonts to update drivers in Windows 7.

Use the Microsoft Windows User State Migration Tool (USMT) 4.0 to automate migration during large deployments of the Windows 7 operating system. • Windows 7 Pro. Using Easy Transfer

    How to use easy transfer

    Good question:

I used Windows Easy Transfer at least a hundred times - literally.  It works very well.  I've never had it mess up a system.  It takes time to run and could be hours if you have a lot of data.   So please be patient.

Please understand at the outset that the DATA is what is transferred.  Applications or programs must be installed separately on the new system.  It is best if you first install the applications.

WET gathers all DATA from specific locations on the old system, as well as all custom settings that you use from the old computer and produces a great big file that is stored on an external drive.  Then when you connect this same external drive to the new computer and run WET and identify yourself as a new, it copies all data in the right places.

WET is a very good program.  However, hedge your bets and make a backup of the data from the old also.

The Acronis program that you are probably referring is something completely different.  He makes an exact copy of the drive installed in the old that you can then copy to the new computer drive.  IT WOULD BE A BIG MISTAKE!  Big mistake because all the drivers and related to the new computer software would be replaced by the bad stuff from the old.  That imaging process is better used on the new computer before loading your programs or data.  The image is an insurance policy that can be used to re - build your computer should it become irreparably damaged or you need to replace the hard drive.

I hope it's clear.  If this is not the case, just ask.

Actually your question is not clear to me, but as I understand, it is you the table in the page and you have popup inside this popup you have the button you need when you click on the button to read the value of the selected table row. In the listener action button, so if you can get the current row of the table and after that you can get any attribute of the line as:

DCIteratorBinding iter = (DCIteratorBinding) BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry().get("TableIteratorName"); // from pageDef.
    Row r = iter.getCurrentRow();
    Object value1 = r.getAttribute("attribute1");
