Can I use other recovery CD portable satellite to install OS?

Hello!

First of all, sorry for my English. I live in Poland and I have a little problem. I was bought by Satellite 1900 of the United Kingdom 3 years ago. There is a problem, because I lost my restore CD. Polish Service point recovery CD is very expensive. It will cost many their Win XP OEM System. I can buy the Satellite 1135 recovery, but I have now is working with my S1900?

What do you think?
Please help me.

Hello

Something like this is not possible because the restore CD is created for each laptop model separately. It is not a kind of universal recovery image.

Each recovery image contains drivers, tools and utilities designed for the specific cell phone model. For this reason you cannot compare these two notebooks of Satellite and the two laptops are completely different.

Use Microsoft installations CD and also offered the drivers, tools and utilities on Toshiba download page.

  • Can I use external recovery disk to do clean install of Windows Vista?

    Hello

The hard drive in my old PC has not totally. I have a CD of the manufacturer of the PC which is labeled

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

    External recovery (32-bit)

(For distribution with a new PC only) .

I was hoping to buy a new hard drive and use this disc to do a clean install of Vista. Is this possible with this drive?

Unfortunately, I can't support this constructor because they went bankrupt a few weeks ago, and their website has been taken down.

    Thank you.

I have now managed to fix the problem and install Vista successfully by, in the BIOS, changing to AHCI to IDE.

  • I can't finde the recovery of my Satellite A100-163 disc

My A100 does not - can not find the recovery disk. Can I use my A60 on my A100 - 163 laptop recovery disk?

Sorry, but you can t use disk recovery of the A60. It will not work.

You can order a new Toshiba Recovery disk:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/

Or you go to a FSA (authorized service provider) to get a new:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported downloads & => find an ASP.

You can also use an original disc from Microsoft, but here, you install all the drivers manual and time consuming.

No, you can not install after Windows 8 in a dual-boot configuration. He recommends first you have Windows 7 installed, and then create a partition and install Windows 8. See the following topics:

  • Satellite A200: Can I use the recovery disc without wiping the drive

I read the threads on this forum, but I did not come with an exact answer to my problem.

With my regular PC, I got a disc of Installation of Vista, which is also a recovery disk (like that could do with XP). One of the most useful things is that when you start from the disc you have an option to "fix" the system, which means that all the vital files (such as the bootloader...) will be restored, but otherwise all data will remain. This is extremely important when for example you install a dual boot with Linux, when often Vista refuses to start and to repair the boot loader has solved the problem. Of course it can easily and quickly fix all kinds of other problems in the system as well.

My laptop Toshiba A200 (otherwise a wonderful machine), came with the Toshiba product recovery disc. From everything I read on the forum and what he says on the disc itself, I understand that it only allows a total reinstallation of the system, set at the factory, wiping your drive and everything on it.

Toshiba really leaves us without a 'repair' option '?
I find that quite amazing, because after all, I paid for the Vista operating system, so why shouldn't I get the options I would have if I had an original Vista disc?

If all the above I have is right, it means that if I want to install a dual boot with Ubuntu and would get a bootloader problem, I loose all my data when I have to repair the boot loader? (A problem which, with the option 'fix', takes only 5 minutes to fix!).

I would like to hear reactions, solutions, suggestions or alternatives.

    Thanks in advance,
    Yossi Beck

    Hey Yossi

I think you have misunderstood something!

You received with the image of Toshiba Toshiba Recovery CD! The image contains drivers Vista OS, Toshiba, tools, utilities, and additional programs!

Please don't compare this disc for the original CD of Microsoft Vista and don t mix it!

So using this disk, you can set the laptop back to factory settings!
This is very useful because this procedure takes about 10 minutes only and you get everything functioning OS with all the drivers, tools, etc.

Please note that no all users and customers who buy these phones are technicians and scientists ;) but simply newbie and such possibility of recovery is always welcome!

but the use of this recovery CD format the whole HARD drive and erases all partitions.
That is why it s advisable to back up the data before using the recovery CD/DVDs

  • Can I use product Recovery DVD-ROM from the other unit for my Tecra A2?

My A2 Tectra is so damaged that I want to back to whn he bought. I can't find the DVD_ROM of recovery of product that comes with it. But I got the Toshiba A60 product DVD_ROM recovery.
They are all the same or do I have the exact DVD_ROM to A2 TECTRA?

    Hello

The answer is no. each recovery image is created separately, and contains drivers for specific hardware infrastructure. Best way is to use the facilities of Microsoft CD and install all the drivers, tools and utilities only later. All these things you can find on the download page of Toshiba.

    Hello

Of course, you can use the Toshiba Recovery disk to go back to Vista. It contains a picture of the factory settings and this means that the Vista preinstalled with all the drivers and tools.

  • Satellite A40: Use only Toshiba drivers or can we use others?

The question, I would like to draw your attention to is due to the availability of the chipset drivers and graphics on the site of intel for chipset mobile 852/855 GM/GME, newer than the corresponding files available on this site, which was released at the end of 2003.

My question is: is it mandatory to use oem provided drivers or can we use these, supposed that a pc (I have a SA-40 model) conforms to posted requirements (as is my case that I can see)?
And if so, why they do not appear on this site?

    concerning
    Ricardo

Why you want to be updated? You have problems?
If everything works correctly I would not update anything!
I read many comments here in the forum, and it seems that Toshiba recommends only a use own drivers.
For me it of clear. If you use one another (not Toshiba) drivers and this driver does not damage anything on the card then you will lose the warranty.

So be careful with 3rd party drivers.

  • Can I use Express Media Player on Satellite Pro M70 delivered without it?

    Hello world

I have a portable Satellite Pro M70 which has not been installed with Express Media Player. In addition, my recovery CD too are not the Express Media Player software on it. Is there a way I can download this Express Media Player and even install on my laptop. If so can someone let me have this link download and any other procedure for doing the same thing.

    Thank you
    Marzi

I put t agree with the user above.
Microsoft Windows player is not the same as the Express Media Player, which is sometimes delivered with Toshiba laptops.
As far as I know, this software cannot be downloaded and it s version an OEM if it s preinstalled on your laptop.
In this forum, you will find some comments on this topic.
To my knowledge, you cannot obtain and order the CD of Express Media Player if this application has not been delivered with your laptop.

    Unfortunately, nothing to do.

  • HP Pavilion Entertainment PC: Can I use HP Recovery Manager Data Backup If my hard drive broke down?

I'm currently back up all my data using HP Recovery Manager, because I may decided to restore my computer to its factory settings to correct I hope than the hard drive. My question is: if I can run HP Recovery Manager and data Back, it means that my hard drive is not broken?

    ghahs

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about your hard drive problem and wanted to help.

Let's start by defining some terms.

When a disk 'crashed', it means a hardware failure, such that the disk cannot be read. You can not write on the disc or read him.  It can only be repaired by this disassembly and replacement of parts.  This must be done in a clean room environment and the cost to do that starts at $1000 USD.

When a disc has "failed", this could mean practically anything.  In some cases, this means that the file system is damaged.  This may be due to the closure of the PC in the middle of a write operation, as when all of a sudden, you turn off your PC.  This can also be due to hardware problems as for lack of sectors.  In both cases, the drive is probably still usable, but in the second case, it won't be for long.

So if HP Recovery runs, then it is not 'crashed', but he could have 'failed' - and in the latter case, if she fails to sectors, replace faster you it, the better.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

  • After upgrade to Windows 7 can I use Toshiba recovery disc creator?

    Hello

I just upgraded my Toshiba Satellite L550-130 from Vista to Windows 7. The Toshiba recovery disc creator, which is always installed also works for Windows 7?
Then, I'll go and buy some blank DVDs...

    Thank you and grettings,
    Toni

    Hey mate,

I doubt it will work. I mean, after the installation of Windows 7, there is not image files that you can burn on the recovery disk. So it does not work in my opinon.

If n t believe you, just try and post your results here! Blank DVD is really cheap ;)
