Can I use the Lightroom 5 upgrade on a Lightroom 4.4 students and teachers edition?

Hello

I currently own an edition Lightroom 4 students / teacher. I'm pretty happy with it, but thinking about the upgrade to the 7 5 d Mark II which is not supported by Lightroom. I am only a student for a very short period, so I have to either buy a LR 5 student and teacher now (which could be a call to close due to my status as a student miss in two weeks) or buy the upgrade version later. (They cost almost the same) But I don't know if my version of Lightroom can be improved. I remember there used to be limits in place, do not let upgrade you, but as far as I remember, it was a limitation of Photoshop. Impossible to find hard facts about this however, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Manu

The fact that you were a student is only qualified to buy Lightroom student discount prices. Now that you have a license you have purchased, you are eligible to purchase future updates. There is no limit of time on it, and you don't need to be a student to be able to buy the upgrade installation. You might want to consider using the DNG Converter and waiting just a little time to see if Lightroom 6 came out. Nobody knows who when is the release date, and historically, it is that those who have bought Lightroom within 30 days of a new update will qualify for a free copy of the new version. But the choice is yours. In direct answer to your question, Yes, you can purchase the upgrade. Just a note of caution. Be sure to keep your original serial number where you will have access to it. It takes in more the serial number for the upgraded version. If you install an upgrade on new computer were Lightroom 4 is not installed or has not been installed, you will be required to provide this and a new serial number.
