  • Since the installation of El Capitan, I can't connect to shared on the network computers. I can see them, but when I try to connect it says connection failed. I can connect directly in Parallels using a shortcut.

I can't connect to shared network computers. Not a problem already before the update to OS X El Capitan. The computers appear in the Finder under heading Shared, but when I try to connect it says connection failed. However, under Parallels Windows 7 I can properly connect via the shortcut or mapped drive. Any suggestions?

El Capitan is a bit fussy about safety. Try

Finder > go > connect to server...

and enter the address of the server explicitly in the dialog box that appears.

    Hello

Adding futher to Wunders his Adviser.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted

Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

  • I can't access files shared on my windows desktop PC 7.

I have ugraded my office recently to Professional Edition Windows Windows7 Home premium. I set up a group of common work between all my machines. I can see and access shared folders on my laptop from my desktop. I can't access files shared on my runing Windows 7 desktop.

When I try and access the windows7 PC I get this error

\\XXXXXXXXX is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions

I have three XP laptops with the same workgroup name. All users are the same. Laptops are access to a wireless network. The office is connected to my router.

I have seen this problem several times in Windows XP, but it's the first time I saw it in Windows 7.  It suits it in XP.  Please try it out on your computer Windows 7 Professional:

    1. press the Windows key + R , type secpol.msc in the box, and then click OK .
    2. click on local strategies .
    3. click on user rights assignment .
    4. click access this computer from the network and make sure that the everyone group is included.
    5. click deny access to this computer from the network and make sure that the everyone group is NOT included.

  • How can I remove a shared link Public file?

How can I remove a shared link Public file?

Apparently, Ive clicked on the share icon and clicked the link public.

This means that the file (including sensitive information) was transferred to the internet? Where is he? What does the Public link? Can I get it back and I can remove them from the internet?

Or does this mean that Acrobat Reader Document Cloud, it was shared on my device?

BTW, I use a mobile Mobile Android, not on PD/computer / tablet.

    Please do advice which continues.

When you share a public link, the document is downloaded into the cloud of document so that users who receive the link can download the document.

However, it does not appear that you have completed the workflow (in fact sent a link to anyone) so it is unlikely that someone has seen the document. For instructions on sharing, see Adobe Acrobat Reader for Android help: print, share, e-mail.

If you has not sent the link to someone specifically through gmail or some other app (step 5 in the instructions), then no one, but you can view the document.

To remove the file from your personal cloud storage space, connect to https://cloud.acrobat.com/, go to file and delete the file.

  • Can we prevent people sharing PDF using LDAP or similar on a network?

We have a large number (more than 1000) of sensitive documents in PDF format, I was asked if it is possible to stop these files being shared with others outside the Organization and to prevent people copying or e-mail for others to use / view.

The PDF are currently hosted on a secure web site, server with an LDAP based ACL restricting access, internally the real PDF is not protected, so anyone with access to the site can, if they wish, save the PDF file and share with others. What is the method best/correct to ensure that our PDF files is protected?

I realized only a limited amount of research and before leaving that a thought more that it may be better to simply ask the question that I can waste my time or following the wrong track entirely! I guess that some sort of DRM would be necessary? These documents cannot be hosted or encrypted outside the network, so any solution will have to be hosted internally in its entirety.

We are on a Windows domain with 500 users.

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/Acrobat/using/securing-PDFs-LiveCycle-Rights-Management.html#secur ing_pdfs_with_adobe_livecycle_rights_management_es

Or is it overkill for our needs?

You can't stop the shared files, PDF or any other type. With the help of DRM you can make shared unnecessary copies. DRM is a complex and controversial. The offer from Adobe is LiveCycle Rights Management. It will cost you to buy, to host and administer. If this is an exaggeration, it's probably a level of Council decision.

  • Can't see the shared folders in WIn 8.1 comments.

I'm using VMware Workstation 10.0.1 and I earn 8.1 as my host OS.

When I set up a VM 7 Win, shared folders are working as expected, but with a VM 8.1 Win I can't find folders in Explorer.  Also, I tried to access it via \\vmware-host and \\.host without success.

How can I see the shared folders in a Win 81 guest VM?

    Thank you!

    Hey Psi,

I had a similar problem. Worked fine on Windows 8.0, but after modernized this VM for Windows 8.1, the shared folder feature has stopped working. Only after the reinstallation of VMware Tools, it worked again.

Please note that a 'fix' on VMware Tools installation does not provide it, only a complete uninstall/reboot/install/reboot sequence makes this feature back to life for me.

    Hope this helps,
