  The question is not able to 'find' updates.  At startup, the message: NEW UPDATES AVAILABLE. When I check the updates, the process runs "forever" and never completes the process.   OK I found the problem... .your certificate you use to reader extend the document has expired.  See attached screenshot. I guess you are using a trial version of Acrobat and it's how you drive extended the doc.
