Can not get the printer to print with the new windows 8

I recently rec'd a new computer with the new windows program (8). Printer works sometimes, but not all the time. The setting was listed as offline. I can't understand how to get online. I have sharing enabled. I entered the paraphrase wireless often - sometimes it prints a doc and no mmore. Other times it does not print anything. Can anyone help.
