  Are there keyboard shortcuts can I use to place my office in mode 'sleep'? All mouse and/or the shot is a bit back when it takes literally 2 seconds to do it on a keyboard.

  I've only played with Windows 8 for a week and I'm already screaming, "Microsoft!" PLEEEASE release a version of Windows 8 for DESKTOP computers (aka 8.1)! "IF you do, I can finally replace my droid with MS OS ones.

  When I use this command my computer enters hybrid sleep mode and shuts down completely, it can only be awakened by pressing the power button / stop and wait while the UEFI BIOS load and Windows load before the resumption of the session. If I use the sleep command in the menu of Windows, the computer goes to sleep with the power light on the computer slowly by Flash and it can be awakened by pressing any key on the keyboard.

  Why this happens and I can control what state the computer goes in with a shortcut (vs hybrid sleep sleep)?

  I use a motherboard ASUS Maximus V 8.1 Windows 64.

  EDIT - this site seems to have a solution. I opened a prompt with administrator privileges and run the command:

  powercfg-hibernate off implementation

  Then make a shortcut with this command:

  Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll, SetSuspendState sleep

  The first time I tried the shortcut that put the computer in hibernation. After using the powercfg command, he seemed to sleep properly.

  Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

  If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button

    

    click Help

    

    then select restart with disabled modules.

  If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
  • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
    (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

  When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

  

  If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

  To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

  2. How did the 500 GB hard drive connected to the computer? It is external or internal?

  To troubleshoot the unable to start the issue to cause corrupted driver, some files that can not be loaded during the startup process must be fixed or restored. So, let's check the disk by using the Windows Recovery Console.

  (a) put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

  (b) press a key when the message "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD ".

  (c) select a language, a time, a currency and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next.

  (d) click on repair your computer.

  (e) (click on the operating system you want to repair), and then click Next.

  (f) in the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt. Type chkdsk c:/f to try to correct the errors.

  (g) Note: answer them when chkdsk asks you if you want to check the disk next boot Vista

  (h) after the recording of the disc, and then run sfc/scannow to check the corruption of system files.

  Important: when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

  You tried the WPA key on your router and still it dosent work, you tried to secure your network using the WEP password. If it isn't then you can try settings WEP key password on your router and check if you are getting connected to your network on your laptop or not.

  Open an Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop) wired page. In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press ENTER... Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase...
  For wireless settings, follow these steps: -.
  Click on the Wireless tab

  For wireless security: -.
  Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...
  Change the mode of WEP wireless security, encryption must be 64-bit. Let the empty password, do not type in anything... Under type of WEP Key 1 in all 10 numbers please (numbers only and no mailbox for example: your 10-digit phone number) and click on save settings...
  Please note the 1 WEP key as it comes to the security key for the wireless network...

He even asked if I had recently move to 8.1 that I had done on Sunday 6/22.   When I said yes, he went in a programming mode.  The strange thing is that the HP Wizard program has been allowing me to run a crawl across the screen of the computer, but the unit still was not not find my computer by itself. I will say the the scan doctor porgram is a little tenacious program and he told me is not to use the USB connection.  He finds another option on the settings of wireless network that has an older connection and he told me to use this site to my wireless network settings.  After I did all of this beautiful work.  I regret just that I stayed until 02:00 trying to figure out the problem, when it comes down to it, the program of troubleshooting on the HP site does not offer many options and it is not helpful at all.  Your announcement repeated good number steps that I discovered on my own.  Thank you

  According to the description, it looks like the connection Internet is lost when the computer "stops, wakes from sleep or when you close the lid and re - opens.

  Method 1:

  To work around this problem, use one of the following procedures:

  a. restart the computer.

  b. complete the Explorer.exe process and restart this process. To do this, follow these steps:

  i. open the Task Manager. To do this, press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC on the keyboard, click on more details to decompress.

  II. click on the processes tab.

  III. in the list of processes, click on explorer.exeand then click end process.

  IV. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to continue, click on end process.

  v. on the file menu, click new task (run...).
