can not restore correctly hit theme by accident and computer screen went gray

My Dell was working fine no problem. I have vista.  I went into the control panel under Customize the theme and got confused and selected windows classic.  My main screen turned all gray (by removing all my icons and background).  A friend told me to go back and choose windows vista, I made this gray screen but still the same.  To make matters worse my computer then stopped allowing me to view anything on my screen.  I coud go to start, but I I chose something you would see that flash on the screen as he was trying to open, but he would never open, you would see only listed in the toolbar. At this point I turned off a turned on the computer, allowing access again.  1 prob. This keeps coming and go where I can and cannot click to open things from the start tab.  Prob 2 there are lines of light on dashboard on both sides of the computer that says "tablet pc Input Panel", what is it, and why I can't get rid of it.  Prob 3, I just want to go back to my old screen is possible.

I went to start search and type rstrui and tried to restore to yesterday.  Process, restarted, but an error came say it has failed.  I tried a 2nd and 3rd times where I couldn't even read the pop up when she came back because we were back to not be able to view anything.  4th test was identical to the first.  How can I restore my computer to how it worked before?

You will find this bookmarking a page (by clicking the star next to the address, or to go in bookmarks > bookmark this page is precisely what we must remember the pages.) This is a feature common in web browsers, and it's very very useful in many situations, including the memory of the location of the pages that you want to see later, allowing access to the pages that you use frequently and other things too.

If you want to know about session restore, there is a helpful support article here which I think also has information on version 3.0. However, I invite you, once more, update, since older versions (including 3.0) are is more sustained and have known security flaws. In addition, you will not lose any no matter what functionality at all (unless you use modules that are no longer usable by the newer versions, in which case you must contact the authors of Add-ons for support and ask them to update their software), is free and very easy to do.

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  • I can not using F8 safe mode, so I can not get access to my admin account and therefore cannot uninstall my program

My computer problem begins with not being about to uninstall a program. I need administrator permissions. I am the administrator with a password. I'm not invited to give a. Nothng happens when I press a button with a shield on it. I received another message that tells me "unable to open the access control editor: the system cannot find the specified file. Can anyone help?

I don't know anything about "reset admin account" but here are two things that may help the case to start in safe mode.  First, enter the mode safe mode with f8 key is a matter of time.  On my computer (Dell) during the boot process, I'm going to get a screen send me options of start of f2 and f12, which is to enter the BIOS.  I can start hitting key f8 then but you will in safe mode unless I'm hit immediately after that the screen with f2 & f12 choices goes.  I just hit several times for a few moments at this time.

    Hi Eric,.

    You can follow these steps:

Step 1: perform a clean boot to verify if an application or service is causing the problem.

See this article for more information on the clean boot:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
     http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Steps to perform a clean boot:
    a. click the ORB start on your desktop
    b. type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    c. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    d. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
    e. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box and then click Disable all.
    f. click OK.
    g. When prompted, click on restart.

NOTE: Please check that you start the computer in normal mode after a repair. Follow step 7 article.

Step 2: Configure the power settings for keyboard, mouse, and other devices.

    a. Click Start, click Control Panel, hardware and sound, and then click keyboard.
    b. click on the Hardware tab, and then click the properties button.
    c. click Change settings.
    d. click the power management tab and verify that the allow this device to wake the computer is selected.
    e. If "Allow this device to wake the computer" was not selected, select it and click OK.
Follow the same steps for the mouse as well.

If the problem persists, disconnect all non-essential devices (printers, scanners, USB drives). Restart the computer with only the original mouse, monitor, and
connected keyboard. If this solves the problem of sleep/wake, one of the devices was causing the problem. Replace a device at a time and test to see if the
problem occurs again. Continue adding devices and testing until you find the device that causes the problem.

Refer to this article for additional troubleshooting steps.

  • Can not uninstall program called tv.addons.ag, and I get an error-NSIS error message?

    Separated from this thread.

Can not uninstall program called tv.addons.ag, and I get an error-NSIS error message?

(Moved to install, upgrade, and activate)

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

The NSIS error message box (Null soft Scriptable Install System) basically means that the executable user or a Setup installer tries to run is damaged or incomplete.

NSIS error can occur for the following reasons:
    (1) software files downloaded from the Internet are not complete.
    (2) downloaded the software, the files have been changed since the original version.
    (3) your PC is infected with a virus.
    (4) physical media used to install the program is damaged.
    (5) materials required (for example, CD/DVD player) is defective.

I suggest the following tasks and check to see if it helps:

Note: Try to install your software, after the execution of each task.

    (1) clear the cache and cookies in your Web browser.

I suggest you follow the link on how to remove the cache of Internet Explorer below.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Internet-Explorer/delete-manage-cookies#IE=ie-11

    (2) if the name of the downloaded installer files composed of several words, rename it to have only one word. (Example: SoftwareNameInstaller.exe)

    (3) if it is available, download the file for installing software from another source approved.

    4) update your antivirus/security software.

    (5) disable your antivirus and any tool on your computer download accelerator, before to perform the download.

    (6) I suggest you try to download and run the Microsoft Security Scanner that allows to remove viruses, spyware and other malicious software. Check out the link below to download Microsoft safety scanner http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

I hope that the information above to fix the problem. Please let us know if you need additional assistance. We are happy to help you.

    Thank you.
