Can not turn on Media Streaming with Windows 7 Professional

When I followed the instructions to turn on media streaming in Windows 7, I immediately have a problem.  I have media player, click on the arrow down to data flow and choose 'enable media streaming... '. »

On the next screen, click on the button "Turn on media streaming" and it does nothing.  I don't know where to look on this logging information.  Nothing appears in the event viewer.

Help, please.

-Winston

I did a little more digging and found the issue.  With Windows 7, this path is:

C:\Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player

Remove all sand file *.wmdb it will work.

Need a solution added to the help for that.

  • Unable to turn on media streaming in Windows 7 Professional

    I currently have Windows 7 Professional x 86 installed.

When I try to turn on media streaming continuously, the gray button and after a few seconds, the button is clickable again, but nothing has changed.

I searched the internet and read what to do a clean boot and the reactivation of services and startup one programs can help find the problem.  I tried, but my Avast Free Antivirus runs regardless of this, so I uninstalled the program and finally had a clean boot.  Unfortunately, this does solve the problem.  Are there other methods that can solve this problem?

    Hi Immahobo,

    Method 1

I suggest that you uninstall and reinstall Windows media player, and check if it works.

    (a) click the Start button, select Control Panel, click programsand then click Windows turn on or off features. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (b) to deselect the checkbox next to the Windows media player , click OK.

    (c) restart the computer.

    (d) back to Windows to enable or disable features , and then select the check box next to the Windows media player , click OK.

    (e) restart the computer and check if it works.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then I suggest that you restore the default settings for Windows Firewall and check if it works.

    Restore Windows Firewall settings

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/restore-Windows-Firewall-settings

    Method 3

If the previous step fails then I suggest that scan you SFC on the computer that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista installation CD.

  • How can I play the audio stream with Windows Media Player 11 AAC?

    Hello

I want to listen to a live stream of a Shoutcast radio station which is in AAC format. I want to play with my Windows Media Player 11 on Windows XP SP3. I still don't play. It seems that it is not supported by WMP 11, but if missing a codec, it should be automatically downloaded from Microsoft, since the option "Download codecs automatically" is checked in the options of WMP, and my security level in Internet Options is set by default.

Y at - there a way or a codec plugin, so I can play the stream AAC on WMP 11?

    Thank you.

    Assem

Orban AAC/aacPlus Plugin will allow WMP 11 to play AAC streams. Note that you have to replace the http stream with icyx URL part, so to read your example AAC stream, you must enter icyx://109.234.157.154:2012 in WMP, via file - Open URL... • Takes 5 minutes - start Message: Configuring Windows Update 0% complete do not turn off your computer. Windows 7 Professional 64-bit system, works fine, but I get this stupid message whenever I start.

How can I get rid of this stupid message and have a normal boot.  This took place yesterday, and it's a real pain.  How can I get rid of this.

I had this problem 2 days in a row. Windows 7 Edition Home Premium. "Automatic updates" not ended and I got the same message on restart and had to wait for it to timeout.

I tried "manually" update, and that fixed the problem.

Go to the control panel. Click on system and security. Click on Windows Update and follow the instructions. I selected the updates recommended, installed and rebooted. Problem solved.

(I have no idea why this problem occurred. In the "Windows Update", I opened the "update history" and saw the 'Impossible' updates, but I don't dig deeper than that.)

  • Cannot depend on media streaming in Windows Media Player 7

I can't turn on Media Streaming on Windows Media Player on my Windows 7 Intel Pantium inside 4 GB, touch screen computer. I have two laptops and a computer. My first laptop works and it is on the good (I'm trying to connect my TV to the wireless computer) and it connects to the TV, but it does not work on my computer. When I go on Windows Media Player and click on the stream and more Options, and then turn on Media Streaming, nothing happens. It goes gray for a few seconds and nothing. What should I do? Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service is in automatic mode and active in service. I have not tried anything else because I'm afraid I'd mess up. Any ideas? I want to watch my videos on TV without connecting to the computer. How to turn on media streaming? I'm a girl so please explain and make it simple.

Oh yes and a more simple question, if I want to watch a movie on my TV from my computer, what should I do? Do I have to install the video in Windows Media Player? But how to install the video in Windows Media Player? AAAAAAAAAAAAGH.

  • Cannot "turn on media streaming" - another user of Windows 7 with the same problem and the "suggested correction '' does not.

This windows bug has been reported and 'responded' before by several people, but the "answers" do not work for me - and they do seem to work for a lot of people in this area and other forums.  I hope you can provide me with a real estate diagnosis, a reason for why this happens and a real solution that works for everyone.

I'm trying to 'Turn on media streaming' in Windows Media Player so I can listen to my xbox and other home theater equipment.  The problem I have is the same problem as [of] other people have reported: in Windows Media Player, I press the turn on the 'link', the button greys streamin media shortly, but then nothing, and streaming is not enabled.

I don't have a network problem.  I was able to extend Microsoft Media Center on my xbox.  (simply not enable streaming in WMP).  With media center extended is a large (better) workaround for the xbox, but this isn't a solution for my other home theater devices. I need to be able to listen to my receiver and blu - ray player, as I have done on my old PC running Windows XP.

I have a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro, x-64 on a new machine of self-building.  Everything else works, it is not the machine.  I installed all the latest drivers for my machine.  I have all the updates for Windows 7.  I run the Windows Firewall and Kaspersky Anti Virus 2010.  I installed Microsoft Office 2007, Outlook 2007, Visio 2010 and many other applications 'standard '.  I'm not under any program of low-level "weird."

As other people "suggested", already tried the action of the outgoing WMP, stop the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service using service.msc, then by removing the .wmdb (and other files but not directories) by my dirctory users/xxx/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Media Player, restart the Service of network share WMP using services.msc and then restarting WMP.  This had no effect.  (I tried several times with and without having to restart WMP network sharing service manually.)  I tried to change the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, tab log (the default on my system) Network Service to Local System with "allow service to interact with desktop" chosen as someone another "suggested".  This does not seem to do anything.  I also tried to uninstall WMP and WMC player (using "turn Windows has or disable"), restart, then adding them and reboot.  This time this icon "turn media sharing on" returned in WMP (the icon is usually party WMP Stream/turn on media sharing window).  This time Windows 7 Pro thought a little longer before doing nothing.  (However, now I get a message error "an error has occurred. Not all features have been changed successfully. "in an attempt to"Reinstall"Windows Media Center after you have reinstalled WMP.)  The resettlement of WMC has returned an error.  I can no longer start Windows Media Center on my PC.

So, by all posts on this topic, its obvious this is a real bug in Windows 7 (maybe?), (perhaps only on x - 64?).

Just two more things on my setup... I did not initially set up homegroup (because I have no other Windows 7 machines), but I tried that implemented to see if it had an effect (it didn't).  The part only 'weird' of my installation, I mounted my D: drive (2nd hard drive) in C:\Users (because I use a Solid State Drive for the operating system on C: and don't want the user data on this subject).  This has not caused other problems, but I wanted to throw it out there in case Windows Media Player sharing is something weird here.  (And no, I'm not going to 'try to change' that, unless it is a known fact that that's the problem - and then I would need a different solution to move my user data off the coast of the SSD.)

So please, let me know what is the real problem why it happened to me (I'm sure some people can turn on streaming in WMP), and what is the real solution.  (There seems to be a multitude of suggestions on the web for all kinds of different 'fixed', but which, if any, is the right one?)  Please do not just suggest things to try.  What is the right benchmark?

Go to network and sharing center open view full map, right click on your PC and click on manage.

then open services and applications, and then serivces and find Upnp device host, right click and click on reboot and make sure that it is set to automatic.

Now scroll down to Windows Media Player Network Sharing service, do a right click and click on reboot and make sure that it is set to automatic also.

It should work, it worked for me and everyone I know but... The only problem I have is when I restart my PC, the drive share Windows Media network service changes from automatic to automatic (delayed start) and I have to restart again the Upnp device host and Windows Media Player network sharing service.

Other than having to do every time I restart my PC, it works perfectly.

Also, if anyone has an idea of why it changes (delayed start) let me know thanks...

  • EliteBook 2530p. Can not turn on WiFi Windows 10

    EliteBook 2530p, Windows 10 home

Ive just upgraded the machine above 10 win 10 with the help of this site. Everything works fine except one thing, I can not turn on WiFi.

The orange LED on the touch screen under the screen and the front edge of the machine are both orange and when I try to use the touch screen to turn it on nothing happens.

All other keys work fine so I don't think that's the problem. I don't know another way to activate the WiFi on this machine.

The WiFi card is recognized in Windows 10 Device Manager and I have re-installed the card and made sure the antenna cables are properly connected.

Anyone had similar problems with WiFi / Win 10 works is not on this machine model?

    Any help or advice appreciated.

    SOLVED

I'm frustrated, trying to get the WiFi works because it is a machine I was in the process of selling and I had no user file to worry about, I decided to clean install Windows 10 and re - install Windows 7.

I did this and load all nessasary drivers but no matter what I did the WiFi refused to turn on. I did several searches and HP Wireless Assistant who got the status of 'Wireless LAN' was OFF but the Start button is grayed out so I couldn't activate it.

While remaining in the wireless Assistant I hit the WiFi button on the touch screen and a message appeared telling me to unplug my Ethernet cable. As soon as it is unplugged the button power on in the Wireless Assistant has become clickable and I was able to turn on the WiFi!

So it seems that if you connect an Ethernet cable to this model of HP, the WiFi system is disabled and the only way for him help is by unplugging the Ethernet cable.

I think I'm going to stick with Win 7 because I'm still not sure that the wireless card is supported under Win 10

If you run one of those, she didn't have Defender. It's
good, not bad. Not only is there potential conflict, but there is no
reason to have both; essentially, they have something very similar
