    Hello

    Defender is not sufficient protection

you need to install antivirus protection

you would have had a free trial for a new AV subscription

This program must be removed before installing another AV

read this information on the Defender:

    ·                         If you use microsoft security essentials avg avira mcafee norton etc they disable the vista version of windows defender by default

the basics of Microsoft security has its own version of windows defender

and other anti-virus programs use their own particular type of application to scan for spyware and malware

It of nothing to worry and is the default action, which is designed for them to do

If the above does not apply to your machine to read the information on the below link on how to disable the windows defender service in vista or make an autostart to enable

    http://www.groovypost.com/HOWTO/Microsoft/Vista/disable-Windows-Defender-service-in-Windows-Server-2008-or-Vista/

and here is the method to remove it from startup in vista

    http://www.groovypost.com/HOWTO/Microsoft/Vista/remove-Windows-Defender-from-Vista-system-startup/

and this is how you would normally activate or disable windows defender in vista from within defenders of own and options tools

    or Microsoft Security Essentials

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.

Are you running MSE or other antivirus/security programs stop Windows Defender running?
Whether Windows Defender is blocked from running by them. McAfee, AVG and many others to do this.
MSE includes features of Windows Defender inside run that separately it would be redundant.

  • Can not activate my windows update

OK my laptop hard drive went south on me and I had to replace it. Before I had that happen, I've had a legitimate copy of windows 8 that I had updated since the preview version of windows 8. Now it won't let me activate my windows 8 on my laptop because it says that I don't have a previous version of windows on my pc. I don't know how to solve this problem, since there is no way I can get down in the preview version of windows 8 I had before I bought my upgrade. Someone at - it an idea on how to solve this problem? Thank you.

    Hi Steve,.

When you try to activate Windows 8, this means that you are using a product key for an upgrade of Windows 8 version and a previous version of Windows wasn't on your PC when Windows 8 was installed. To install a Windows 8 upgrade version, you must already have Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP installed on your PC.

If you have formatted the drive until the upgrade of Windows 8 version has been installed, you will not be able to use your upgrade product key to activate Windows 8. To activate Windows 8, you will need to install your previous version of Windows, and then reinstall Windows 8. Help with activation process to contact Microsoft Product activation center by phone.

    Hi Paul,.

Have you tried to download an attachment after you turn off your antivirus?
I had a problem in the past where the system was performed at Trend Micro Internet Security and Web content filtering (I think that's what it was called) was preventing attachments from download.

  • EliteBook 2530p. Can not turn on WiFi Windows 10

    EliteBook 2530p, Windows 10 home

Ive just upgraded the machine above 10 win 10 with the help of this site. Everything works fine except one thing, I can not turn on WiFi.

The orange LED on the touch screen under the screen and the front edge of the machine are both orange and when I try to use the touch screen to turn it on nothing happens.

All other keys work fine so I don't think that's the problem. I don't know another way to activate the WiFi on this machine.

The WiFi card is recognized in Windows 10 Device Manager and I have re-installed the card and made sure the antenna cables are properly connected.

Anyone had similar problems with WiFi / Win 10 works is not on this machine model?

    Any help or advice appreciated.

    SOLVED

I'm frustrated, trying to get the WiFi works because it is a machine I was in the process of selling and I had no user file to worry about, I decided to clean install Windows 10 and re - install Windows 7.

I did this and load all nessasary drivers but no matter what I did the WiFi refused to turn on. I did several searches and HP Wireless Assistant who got the status of 'Wireless LAN' was OFF but the Start button is grayed out so I couldn't activate it.

While remaining in the wireless Assistant I hit the WiFi button on the touch screen and a message appeared telling me to unplug my Ethernet cable. As soon as it is unplugged the button power on in the Wireless Assistant has become clickable and I was able to turn on the WiFi!

So it seems that if you connect an Ethernet cable to this model of HP, the WiFi system is disabled and the only way for him help is by unplugging the Ethernet cable.

I think I'm going to stick with Win 7 because I'm still not sure that the wireless card is supported under Win 10
