CAN read Interface of USB-8473 programmatically

Hello

I'm looking for an example to get the name of my usb-8473 card BOX interface. I developed an application for his colleagues and I do not know CAN name of the interface they use (CAN0, CAN1,...). It will be great if I could read this name in my application, to set properly the name of the object of the communication CAN I setup and opening.

As joined, an example that I started but I can't finish.

Location of data in MAX:

I work with:

LabVIEW 2012 SP1 (12.0.1f3), 32-bit

MAX 5.4.0f0

NI-CAN 2.7.4

Thank you

If it were a XNET device it would be detectable in a similar method, but I * think * the only way I found to do this in the past is to provide an array of names of interfaces and use ncOpen.vi. Something like the following:

Edit - you can easily try something similar to create a table of connected interfaces (if you have several devices)

  • I can read two-channel USB-6008 using THE Signal Express?

    Hello world!!

Is possible to read the two analog inputs at the same time?

Example: Using Signal Express, I need to read the (channel 0) analog input and analog input (channel 1) at the same time.

I try this but, the signal on purpose gives me an error message saying that I can't read several channels at the same time using the USB-6008.

    Is this true?

  • CAN transmit/receive same Port using USB-8473?

Hi, I'm new to the CAN interface. I have a USB-8473 attached to my USB using Labview 11. I write labview routines to use the port, but since I don't have 2 of them, I thought just to transmit a data frame and read it on the same port for testing purposes. Currently I'm using transmission same reception Port.vi example, just to see, if it works, but when I run the VI and transmit data and then set the RTR bit to receive the rear frame, nothing is ever reported. Are there any additional settings I should do before using the device CAN 8473. I even tried setting the attribute of free reception as well and nothing ever gets the spokesperson. I use a baud rate of 125K on CAN0 flow. Can someone help me understand why it does not work?

    Thank you.

No.... everything will be virtual (pass on 256, 257 reception). NI-CAN comes with two virtual ports internally interconnected. They are not exactly the same as a real port, but it can help you to carry out tests.

Hello. In fact, you can use any USB adapter to connect your iPhone to the computer and transfer text files. Apple recommends the adapter like this http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD820AM/A/lightning-to-micro-usb-adapter

  • Can read/write internal NAS200 fine readers - USB drives seem to be read-only

I seem to have the opposite problem of most people.  I have two internal drives in a RAID 1 array on my NAS200 and I have no problem with them.  I can insert a flash drive into one of the USB ports and I have no problem reading and writing to it.  I can even insert a USB camera card reader and can read and write to him as well.

But I can't seem to write to an external drive, I have plug into one of the USB ports.  I tried several USB drives - none of them work in the NAS200.  They WILL work on my PC and my MAC Powerbook. I tried several disks in a thermal BlacX doc take a 2.5 external hard drive case and another box of 3.5 inches.  I have tried everything I can think of - have had this problem since I purchased the NAS200 4 months.

Any advice on how I can write on a USB external drive attached to the NAS200?

    Thank you

    Without backup

Your USB device is probably formatted to NTFS, and the NAS200 only supports NTFS in read-only mode. If you want to write to a device via the NAS200, it must be FAT or FAT32 format.

  • using usb-8473

We bought the usb-8473 to build a diagnosis for a device CAN customized used in a laboratory of high energy physics.

The appliance can use extended (29-bit) message frames and custom message ID.

These requirements would not be a problem if I could use the API of canal, of which it turns out is not available for the usb-8473.

Is it possible to use the OR usb-8473 with the frame channel conversion, or I just bought an expensive paper weight?

Sorry if I missed some relevant examples, but I look at-

To use the scope ID, you OR the value 0 x 20000000 for the ID of arbitration (may be 0 x 4000000, but I think it's 0x20000000). This should be in the manual.

  • Protocol settings NODES in LabVIEW using NI USB-8473

Hi, I was recently introduced to this Protocol for diagnostics on the ECU.

What I want to do: -.

I want to read messages from the ECU using the program called 'UDS Diagnostic Demo', which is available in the game for example provided under the help section in LabVIEW.

    I know: -.

I can communicate with ECU very well with the screws of NI-CAN and the same material (8473 NIUSB) I used initially for monitoring CAN messages.

What I want to know: -.

    1. I don't know about the parameters I put the Protocol Settings section if I use UDS Protocol?

    2. What are Transmit and receive IDs, are these specific ECU or a few standard values?

    3. For UDS and ISO TP Normal mode chosen - I learned I didn't need to worry about the ID of the channel and Transmit / receive address Extensions but don't I care about periodical CAN ID?

Also by reading this forum I came across an issue where it was mentioned as a transmit and receive ID 7E8 and 7E0 respectively. I also tried but no luck.

Using values as specified in the screenshot, I'm able to run the VI and it doesn't give any errors but he don't give me any respinses ECU is.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Vicky

    Hi Frank,.

I'm back with the solution. I managed reading ECU information such as part number, serial number and other settings engine such as temperature, pressure, battery voltage and so forth and on.

When you use the example LabVIEW VIs for the UDS protocol you have no need of the fields under Protocol for diagnostic.vi settings open except transmission and reception ID. (Normal - value ISP TP transport protocol)

After further reading on different ECU. I discovered this ID to pass - 7E0 and receipt ID - 7E8 are aone of the most common ID to connect with most calculators of major manufacturers such as Delphi.

What ID service you will find standard IDs based on Protocol NODES here. For the propreitery ID, you need help from manufacturer or Integrator.

  • Sync CAN read, CAN write and DAQmx

    Hi all

I have setup an application with a cDAQ 9178.  I have several digital and analog i/o cards and a BOBBIN card in the chassis.

The unit is used in a hydraulic test bench.  I'm reading and writing of my analog equipment and digital I/O timed and synchronized.

I also managed to synchronize my CAN read waveforms with my entry analog daqmx and so sync CAN read with DAQMX.  I used one of the examples in the finder of the example to handle this.  Now I want to synchronize my CAN write waveforms with my CAN read waveforms and so also with analog and digital DAQmx tasks.

Are there examples where using the API OR-XNET which shows how synchronize CAN read waveform and CAN write waveform on the same interface?

I tried to read my signals output by adding them to the list of signals of the CAN read signals, but they did not show.

    Thanks & best regards,

    Lieven

    Hi Simon,.

I have the module 9862 in my chassis and have managed to use the trigger for the start of my NI9205 analog input card to synchronize my readings CAN with all my other analog I/o.

Now, I just wanted to see my CAN output signals synchronized with the rest of the signals.  At first, I tried to use the same trigger for my BOX of output on the map, but somehow, it did not work properly.  After looking a little on the forum and in the examples that I found a knot of XNET SESSION property called EchoTX and used on my BOX of exit session.  I then added my output signals to my list of input signals and was able to read my output signals.

That's what I was looking for.

    Thank you

  • Is is possible to access channels from a database in labview with NI USB 8473 s

    Hello

I would like to know if it is possible to access a database BOX, which is downloaded through MAX, in labview.

Specifically, I downloaded my CAN of database to the MAX and I want access to each specific channel in labview.

IE according to the photo, I would like to have access to the canal of n_Motor_InsRpm of E1_L0_1 (motor speed) in Labview, in order to define and pass a value of speed via CAN. Would this be possible with the NI USB-8473 s? If so, is there a simple example in Labview?

    Thanks for your help

There are several ways to get information from database without the need of hardware. Here's one I made earlier.

  • My PC detects that my Kingston card reader into the USB port but wont read SD card - why?

Several ports USB in my PC w/Windows XP see all my USB key and can read the data, but while "type" my Kingston card reader 4ports are recognized, it will not read the SD card. Why?

You should have installed service pack 3, a long time ago, but this probably isn't the cause of your immediate problem.  Until the last part of your response, I would say that you need to get a new card reader.  However, if the card reader works on another computer, something seems to be the issue.

What is the model of your Kingston card reader? It should appear on the label.

With the drive connected to a USB port, open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK).

Normally, you should see a number of entries in the category 'Disks' for the number of different locations in the card reader.  They probably will be named something like, "Kingston USB 2 HS-CF USB Device" and similar.  It should also have an entry in the "De Bus USB controllers" category that says "USB Mass Storage Device".

Check all the entries above.  If none of them display a warning icon (exclamation), double-click the entry and to report to what appears in "Device status" and "use of the device.

Right click on each of the entries corresponding to the card reader (i.e. one for each location in the hard drives category card reader and an in the category USB controllers USB mass storage device) and select uninstall.  After all, entries have been uninstalled, disconnect the player from the computer card and restart.  Now reconnect the card reader.  Windows should recognize and install it automatically.

NOTE: If you have a hard drive connected by USB, you must be careful that you uninstall the correct USB mass storage device.  The safest way to do this is to use the "Remove hardware safely" to stop your external drive and then disconnect it from the computer.  At this point, its entry will be removed from the Device Manager.

If the procedure above does not read your card before the card reader, I am ideas.
