Can satellite P100-387 - I use a solid state drive?

Is it possible to change the disk hard original toshiba satellite P100-387 with new SSD. i.e.: Kingston SSDNow V-Series 128 GB?

Hello

Hmm generally, it shouldn't be a problem since the P100 supports a SATA HDD controller.
To be honest I n t have an SSD and I can't say that an SSD can work properly, but theoretically it should not be a problem because the BIOS shouldn't differences between a common SATA HDD or SSD SATA.

Welcome them

  • Satellite P100-387: how reintall Windows XP Media Center Edition

    Hello

I work with P100-387. Today, I realized, that there is a problem with the new upgrades for windows and update for Office 2007. I'm not able to open Word. Excel is workin, Power Point also. Opening remarks, the remains of screen splash long (about 3-4 minutes), the menu is being loaded, but when I try to click on something... does not.
I tried to delete some KB, but nothing helped. I have downloade also all the updates for Office 2007 - still does not.

If the last option is to reinstall Windows. Please tell me how to do?

I tried using the recovery disk, but I scare: there is that my HARD drive will be formatted in a single partition of message (for the time being, I have 4, and I want to do all the time with all the data). My goal is to format only C: (the system) and install the fresh news or Windows XP MCE.

Please give a solution, how to solve this problem.

    > I tried using the recovery disk, but I scare: there is that my HARD drive will be formatted in a single partition of message

Well generally it of true the recovery CD would be to format the whole HARD drive and erase all partitions and set the laptop to factory settings.

But the question is; what recovery CD Toshiba do you have? I presume that it is the new version of the recovery CD because the laptop Satellite P100-387 is not very old.

You can choose between the Standard recovery mode and Expert mode?
Using the expert mode you should be able to choose the partition where the operating system would be installed.

But if it is not able to choose between these two recovery modes, then I guess you have the new recovery called RECO CD and there is no other choice than to format the whole HARD drive. In this case, the backup of the data would be desirable

Of course, you can use the original CD of Microsoft. Using this CD, you will be able to install the OS on the single partition without format the whole HARD disk.

    What do you do?
You want to install applications on the hidden partition or what?
Why did you hide the partition?

I use also the 8 and I must say that it s a fantastic program.
    I divided my HARD drive into 3 partitions C, D, E
On C, I have installed Windows operating system and all applications like MS Office for example.

On the partition D and E, I placed all the documents, files, images, etc.
As you can see, the programs are installed on the same partition as the operating system Win and I didn't hide all partitions.

    It works very well

  • Fingerprints and the remote control supported on Satellite P100-387

P100-387 has a fingerprint and the remote? Please, someone answer me.
    Thank you.

    Hello

To my knowledge, the Satellite P100-387 does not support the fingerprint reader and is not supplied with the remote control.
    But you're right.
The fingerprints and the remote control are optional and some laptops in the P100 series support fingerprint reader and are delivered with command remotely.

  • Satellite P100 - 387 CPU fan works like crazy

    Hi all
I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P100-387. I bought it with 2 friends. The same model.

The problem exists only in 2 of the 3 laptops. It looks like this. When I start the machine everything is ok. While windows starts cpu cooler (or video card cooler if it exists) starts to work. If the fan starts to work the low speed at the highest. And did it for 5 - 10 times. Then a few minutes break and again. It's really noisy. It seems that when you insert a CD or a DVD.

It goes like this also when windows is started. No high consumption of CPU, the fan works like crazy. Start at full speed for 2-3 seconds, then for 1 second and still the same.

Everyone has the same 'characteristic '?
What is this Toshiba Power Saver software works with p100-387?

    Hello

I P100-109 close to me and I noticed the same thing. There is no difference between preinstalled WXP or Vista and because of this, I assume that this is a normal behavior. I know it's sometimes troubling, but unfortunately you have to live with it.

  • Satellite Pro S300 EZ1514 - could not initialize Solid State Drive (SSD)

    I have a Satellite Pro S300 EZ1514.

Recently I bought a SATA II 64 GB SSD to replace hard drive current cavalry. I first tried to install XP with SATA drivers rationalized in.
The installation process recognized the SSD and has the original file copied to it, but when it restarted to continue the installation process the system wouldn't boot from the drive.

Then I tried to install Vista Business 64 from the recovery disk came with the laptop.
After launching the recovery disc, the said installation process the hard drive has not been initialized and click OK to initialize now.
After clicking OK to initialize the system not restarted that at the end pointing upwards on the screen telling me to initialize the hard disk.

Then I tried initializing the disk manually on my desk.
Plugged into my office, initialized and formatted in NTFS. Plugged into the laptop to retry recovery Vista. And once again the same screen appears. Reconnect the disk SSD the Office to see that the player has is more initialized and was to be initialized again.

Then I gave up and installed the SSD on my desktop under master boot and installed perfectly fine with XP. For testing purposes I then handed the ssd with XP pre-installed in the cell to see what happens. To my dismay the computer laptop would not boot and on top of that when I put the SSD drive in the desktop only to see that the drive has been initialized is no longer and I had to reinstall XP again.

    Conclusion:
It seems that the Satellite Pro S300 series is not easy SSD and just post it self off Initialise the Solid State Drives.
This seems to be the logical conclusion that the SSDS works perfectly well on my desktop and the laptop is fine now with the old turntable hard back in.

Does anyone else have this problem or a solution?
I would still put the SSD in my laptop to save energy.

    Hello

The laptop is equipped with common serial ATA HDD.
The SSD might work, but is not a must.

There are several different SSD on the market and a problem of compatibility of equipment can always happen.
Maybe an other SSD would work properly, but these are just suggestions.

Hello everyone. I recently installed a Samsung SSD (hard solid state drive) in my destop PC. For some reason any Lightroom do not see? So I can't ingest pictures of her, or copy photos from a card itself. It is not listed as a player option. LR sees any other drive. My computer he sees very well, so I was able to create a catalog it. IM using windows 8.1. Any ideas? I would also add that this drive has become corrupted and was repaired by Samsung. Maybe they did do a very good job......

  • 27 "mid 2011 iMac drive solid state drive is dead and must be replaced. Is this easier to do than to to replace a HDD with a SSD? I hope I can do it myself.

My 27 "mid 2011 iMac drive solid state drive is dead and must be replaced. The SSD originally came with the computer and not a subsequent update. I understand that a SSD replacing a HARD drive is quite complex, but would be more simple replacement of a dead with a new SSD SSD? I hope I could make myself.

Even as the replacement of a HARD drive. However, go to OWC buy the connector of the special drive that has the necessary temperature control that is not part of the SSD, because it is for the stock of HARD drive.

  • Samsung 850 EVO Solid State Drive works only with the MacBook Pro - Solution?

I recently bought a Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB Solid State Drive for mid 2012 MacBook Pro father. The computer was working properly, but it was just very slow. I took the old drive and installed the SSD. I took it to an Apple store so that they could install the OS. A guy at the Genius Bar met with me and first tried to install the OS via the Ethernet cable. It is impossible to install some general error. He then tried to install it on a disc. Which also failed. He said he was not familiar with the type of error that he saw. But he said it was a mistake 'bad '. He said he saw the SSD for my SATA cable worked. He concluded that the reader must be defective. I explained how it is virtually impossible because they have a rate of close to zero. He said: "well they are produced en masse" and explained how they could install a hard drive themselves for some too expensive price. A bit annoying.

In any case, I took the SSD back to my house and threw it in my desktop PC. It works very well. Then what should I do? Why am I not able to get the SSD to install it? From what I read, the Samsung 850 EVO should be compatible with a MacBook Pro 2012. Can I do to install it at home? Is that all I can say people at the Mac store to help them along?

Most likely, the drive is formatted for use with Windows computers. First step would be to format correctly for Macs.

This is Mac OS extended (journaled) with a GUID partition map.

OS X will only be installed on a properly formatted disk.

  • Solid State Drive

    Hello

    I have a HP 15 t-n200 (Pavilion TouchSmart 15 t), not product. F4W68AV.

This laptop can be upgraded to use an internal Solid State Disk drive?

In addition, by examining the characteristics of this laptop, it does not specify the interface hard disk other than SATA 300 MB/s transfer rates.  Anyone know if it is SATA I, SATA II, SATA III, mSATA or...?  I find the specifications in the service manual to be a little less useful since the maintenance manual usually cover a wide range of products, and I have a wire deterimining trouble just what hardware is inside of me.

For example, in the case of the drive hard, my original Bill said I have a 750 GB 5400 RPM hard drive.   The repair of the lists at least two possibilities that fit this description, namely p/n 634250-005 (750 GB, 5400 RPM, 9.5 mm) and 732001-005 (750 GB 5400 RPM + 8 GB NAND hybrid, 9.5 mm, for use with computer models equipped with Intel processors).  Now my TouchSmart has a 4th Gen processor Intel i5-4200U.  So does that mean I have a p/n 732001-005?  How can I be sure?  By reading the manual, the hard drive is not accessible AFAIK, so how in the world you will find what you really inside?

    Thank you.

Please see your order confirmation, duplicate customer, or invoices for the exact specifications of your computer. According to the HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide for your computer, this model supports the following:

6.35 cm (2.5 in.) of hard drives in 9.5 mm (. 37-in) and thicknesses of 7.0 mm (. 28 - in) (all hard drives use the same bracket)
    Customer-accessible
Serial ATA (should be SATAIII, which is compatible with SATAII)
    Protection accelerometer support

    Supports the following drives:
    1 TB 5400 RPM, 9.5 mm

    750 GB, 5400 RPM, 9.5 mm
    500 GB, 5400 RPM, 9.5 mm and 7.0 mm
(Supports the SSD mSATA 24GO with system memory up to 8 GB (for use with models to select a computer with Intel processors and discrete graphics switchable))
    Supports the following hybrid readers:
1 TB 5400 RPM, + 8 GB NAND hybrid drive HARD; 9.5 mm
750 GB, 5400 RPM, + 8 GB NAND hybrid drive HARD; 9.5 mm
500 GB, 5400 RPM, + 8 GB NAND hybrid drive HARD; 7 mm

The supported above list is not exhaustive and is typically what HP moved to the factory. Assuming that your Bill lists the 750 GB 5400 RPM hard drive, it's not going to be the 750 GB, 5400 RPM, hybrid HARD drive because there is no indication whether the hybrid. Your computer will also support most hard SATAIII after-market, hybrid hard drives and SSD drives (solid state drives).

Removal instructions / replacing the hard drive begins on page #63 of the HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide. These are very detailed instructions and require the dismantling of many components.

    It's the HP upgrade kit:

Don't know how much it costs but I suspect you can get a much cheaper SSD. Also, I would say that you can use any 3.5-inch bolt adapter 2.5 in this with the SSD in the sled used originally for the larger HARD drive and place the data and power on the SSD SATA ports to the outside, you can connect the wires from inside the computer for them.

  • Installation of Vista/Windows 7 on a Solid State Drive

My HP all-in-one office had installed Vista and I have upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium, when it first came out. I will change to a new Solid State Drive. I want to do a clean install of Windows 7 on SSD.  Do I have TO install my Vista backup and then install the upgrade to 7 or can I use the 7 upgrade disc?  I know that I can use the software of duplication to transfer my OS but I don't want to transfer errors in registry etc.  I'll come back to the top of all my photos, music, etc. on an external drive until I'm ready to add to the EHR.     Thank you

If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.

How to do a clean install with upgrade disc:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

    Enter the product key

    Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent

They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

  • Solid State drive in dv8-1110eb

I can install a Solid State drive in my dv8-1110eb, done it really accelerates my Win 7, 64 bit system, and what SSD would you recomment?

    Greetings,

    Onni.be

    Hello Jürgen.

Here are some tips during the reinstallation of the operating system and all your applications. You can use the tools of W7 to see the mirror your hard drive image and create a system repair disc. These two applications work to restore the operating system at the time of the creation. If the new SSD is smaller in size, this method will not work. You can use your HP recovery DVD in this case, or you can install a retail version of W7 and use your key to product from the underside of the laptop. To do this there must be the same exact version and it must be installed as a trial. When it's time for you to enter the OEM key, go to the properties of the computer and at the bottom of this page you will find 'change product key '. This is where you enter your OEM key.

    Download secure for W7.

http://www.mydigitallife.info/Download-Windows-7-ISO-official-32-bit-and-64-bit-direct-download-links/  Do not use rewritable and make sure it is a good brand. If you choose this method, I can show you exactly where everything that get you the drivers and even get the access keys work. You "eject" Volume OSD Bass and treble etc, everything will disappear with the commercial version of W7.

I'm using Adobe CS4 and you will be surprised to know how fast your CS5 will run!

  • Upgrade to Solid State drive?

I have installed and registered the software on a CD a year ago.  I'm upgrading to a Solid State Drive and do not trust a clone of the program.  I want to uninstall inform Adobe and then reinstall it from my CD.  Adobe lets me do this?

You are allowed to have two machines with active facilities - but you can install it on as many machines as you want.  You can deactivate and reactivate the need for different machines, as long as you don't try to have more than two active at a given time.

In your case that you can do is to disable the current installation, by opening one of the programs and selecting Help-> Deactivate.  That's all you should need to do. You do not need to contact Adobe to tell them anything, but indirectly, you did that by disabling the facility.  When you get the new disk installed just use the disc reinstall, then activate it with the serial number of the drive.  If you have a problem with the disc downloads are available for installation as well.
