Can't delete shortcuts on my desktop

I want to delete a shortcut on the desktop. But he said that it is no longer in c:\users\owner\deskttop check location try again. Then when tried again said me item not found. How can I get rid of the desktop shortcuts that are no longer required and became themselves global icons now?

I'm now speculating.

I noticed this probem happened when someone uninstalled a program, but has left its shortcut on the desktop. When you try to delete the shortcut later, it couldn't be done.
Why? Because the shortcut is like a map. She leads the system to where is the actual program. If the program is already uninstalled, the system comes back statement 'location not found '.

What sounds familiar?

If so, I don't have a way to fix this, except...

Reinstall the program > remove the shortcut on the desktop > uninstall the program.

I don't know others with better knowledge will have an appropriate response to this problem.

  • can't resize the window of firefox, so I can create the shortcut on the desktop

I don't know how to resize the window smaller, it only makes the impression of the page to the smallest, on the page, not the whole outline of the page, so I can move the symbol to put on the desktop! I used the page resizing in the menu, is there another way to do it? Thank you

You can see the 3 buttons at the top right of the window frame: (_) to minimize, maximize/restore, close (X)? If these buttons are not visible, Firefox may be in mode "full screen". The F11 key toggles between the normal modes and full screen.

When you use the middle button on the title bar that toggles between maximized and resizable, is visible in the lower right of the Firefox window? If so, you should be able to click and drag up and to the left to resize the Firefox window. If it is off the screen, you should be able to resize the window in two steps: drag the upper left corner of the window down and to the right, and then drag the window to the top of the screen.

Not sure it's the right answer, but please give it a try.

  • Where can I delete shortcuts to programs, I do not use

    From: youngstec

Hello... I have I just running on a new PC running Vista small business and would like to know how to remove the shortcuts that appear on the page of the Welcome Center. I realize that the visitor center can be turned off, but ideally I would like to get rid anything either on the PC which is of no use it is to say software of trail that has been preloaded.

    Thank you.

    De : Michael Solomon

I guess the trial software are the shortcuts that you want to remove.  I think that, if you remove the trial software, the shortcuts would be gone as well.  Open Control Panel, open programs and features, locate the test software in the list, select it and click on uninstall.

  • Is it possible that I can do a shortcut to ejecting the disc (no keyboard)?

On my PC, eject the physical disk does not work, so whenever I need to open the hard drive I have to go through Windows Explorer (computer / my computer), make a right click Eject. I know the same can be done by using a shortcut on the desktop to the D drive, but the Format option is directly above the ejection.

Is it possible that I can do a shortcut on the desktop that will trigger the drive to open? I can Wizz-trigger that it closed.

    Thank you

    Maybe this?

Open Notepad and create a file with only

    % Eject

written in it. Save the document and rename it "eject.bat".

Now, if you drag the file bat to your drive should eject, or if you right click on the .bat file and choose "send to", then select your drive should eject.

  • I can't pin shortcuts to Documents, images, and the taskbar Control Panel. They go only in Windows Explorer?

Clear since back with Win 98, I used the Quick Launch bar downstairs to give me quick access to my most used programs while keeping open the windows that I use, so I was happy to Win 7 as supposed that this would finally make a correctly recognized feature.  However, I find only programs can actually be pinned it.  I don't want these three things hiding inside Windows Explorer, what makes 2 clicks result instead of 1.  Am I missing something simple (which is possible)!  I can get the shortcuts on the desktop is there a way to then pin the taskbar shortcuts instead?

    Hi skyreburn,

This is how the Windows 7 pin feature. Personally, I would like an option that allows you to pin folders separated rather than adding it under the Solution Explorer icon. You can accomplish what you want with a hack (sort of), pinning an executable, and by changing the way target the question later. For more information, see this article.

I have too many shortcuts to Web sites on my desktop and I need to organize.  How can I move them into folders?  Many of them were placed on my desk by my organization and can not be deleted, so I would put them in folders and own things!

    Hello Rebecca,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

According to the description, you need to organize and move the shortcuts to Web sites into folders on the system.

    Certainly, I understand your concern.

I suggest you try the following steps to create a folder on the desktop.

    1. Right click on the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, and then clicking Show Desktop.
    2. Right-click in an open space on your desktop, click new, and then click folder.
    3. Type a name for the folder, and then press enter to complete the creation of your new folder on the desktop.
    4. You can move the folder to the desktop by clicking on the folder, and then drag it to the desired location.
    5. You can also rename a folder by right-clicking the folder, and then clicking Rename.

Note: Once the folder is created, you can simply drag and drop shortcuts from the site on this particular issue.

    https://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/KB/creating+a+desktop+shortcut+to+a+Web+page

You can drag the favorite icon on the left end of the address bar on the desktop to create a shortcut.
If you create an internet shortcut in this way this shortcut then gets the icon of the default browser.
If you want a different icon (favicon) then you must assign you this icon for the shortcut on the desktop (right click: properties).
You can usually get the favorite icon if you add 'favicon.ico' to the main area of a website (for example http://www.mozilla.com/favicon.ico ) to display favorite icon in a tab and save this image to a folder or see if you can find it in "tools > Page Info > media.
