can't go beyond logon after installing critical Microsoft updates, please help!

G6-1331sa laptop. Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit.

After installing critical updates of microsoft for the first time after initial start-up, I couldn't go past the login screen. I turned off the laptop and rebooted in safe mode and restored to a save point. the laptop works now, but I'm worried about these essential updates that are still waiting to be installed (43 in total). Since this problem I used intsalled and hp support assistant recommended updates in the hope that this would better the case. the problems that I remember, when I checked the events in safe mode, surrounded mainly around updates NET framework 4.0, but there were a couple of other issues surrounding the other updates, but do not remember speciifics. If anyone can help me with this question, I would be extremely grateful!

Yes, Microsoft can be a royal pain @ times, but we love them so much, so what you need to do is choose the updates 2to3 or 4to5 @ a time, reboot the new laptop as needed. It's the safe way only to avoid a painful failure, OK? Try to update the elements who first of all the .net and then move these heavier MDPU later.

As you said that you are not able to get new updates of windows on the computer.

I would like to ask some questions about your request:

    1. When was the last time that you install the windows desktop update?

    2. You receive an error message from the updates?

    3. You use any third-party antivirus on the computer?

    4. Did you do any change on your computer before the show?

After installing the latest updates, my screen on large icons, screen too large for my moniter the only way of difficulty was to uninstall updates.

Sounds like something in the update causes a conflict with your video driver or change the resolution settings.
The first thing to do to solve the problem is to try to install each of the updates one at a time instead of let Windows Update do several updates together.  If you're lucky, the problem can not ride again.  If so, you'll know at least update is the cause of the problem.

If the problem persists, try right click on an empty area of your desktop and select properties to open the display properties dialog box.  Select the settings tab.  Look to see if the screen is correctly identified and if the resolution seems correct.  If you spot something wrong, change to the correct setting.  If everything looks correct, you can try to change the resolution to see if that can solve the problem.

You can also check the website of the manufacturer of your graphics card to see if they have an updated display driver.  Updates of the operating system only sometimes work correctly if you have the latest version of the drivers for the various components.

If all else fails, you can uninstall the update one that is causing the problem and mark do not show you this update again in Windows updates.   Doing so will be considered a last resort - especially if the update in question is one of the security updates.

    mentioned, check if it helps.

When you try to install an update for .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update '0 x 643' error code or error code Windows install "1603". MissCats Hi,

    1. Do you have the latest changes on the computer?
    2. You have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

I suggest that reset you the default Windows Update components and later try to install updates.

How to reset the Windows Update components?

Also check out the article below and try the steps

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then I suggest you temporary disable the security software installed on the computer and install 5 updates at a time, to check if it helps.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • How can I reinstall MS OneNote2003 after installing Vista?

    Hello everyone,

I was a bit confused of the 'ExpressUpgrade' action, because I first thought I would get
a DVD-Windows Vista upgrade, but as I can see in ModusLink he is named "Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit DVD"... OK, it's done now, but that's why I have other questions:

There was additional software and utilities already installed (I have a Satellite P100 - 463 WinXP).
I know that there is this "step by step Toshiba DVD" who has first updates the BIOS, install Vista and then the drivers needed and utility (as "Toshiba Assist" and all the others, I guess). As it is written in the guide step by step, all programs etc. will be deleted, as formatting of the hardddisk, ok.

But with the laptop, there wasn't "MS Office OneNote 2003" already installed and this program, I have not found on one of the DVD / CD. On the CD is 'MS Works 8.5' and on 'Tools-CD"that I was burning of 'C:\toolscd' there are things like"InterVideo Win DVD Creator"(the player) and"recorder of Sonic.

On the "Recovery-DVD" is just the Image of Windows XP preinstalled + software etc and I think of course, there is also the OneNote2003, but like I said I can't find the setup.exe from OneNote2003 anywhere...

Or could it be that OneNote2003 will also be installed with the installation of Vista? What is a "core" Vista, don't not patched by Toshiba? As I was reading in the Vista_Express_Upgrade_instruction_multilanguage.pd f (the manual "upgrade progressive", first BIOS is up to date, then installed Vista and here again I have to use the toshiba DVD to install the software and drivers...) Is it only "utiltities' as"Toshiba Assist"or as software?

Last question: update after the BIOS that is needed for Vista, is still possible to install the "old" Windows XP + stuff pre-installed recovery-DVD or this BBIOD goof only for Vista update and I cannot restore the original recovery image?

And anyway, can I install new stuff like Works 8.5 etc. on Vista or will I have problems with it?

    Thanks for the replies.
    Greetings, launchee

    Hi kai

I know that the Vista upgrade is a bit confusing
So I'll try to clarify some things:

1.) Toshiba Recovery XP CD contains all Toshiba drivers, utilities and tools, as well as additional programs like OneNote, Win DVD, etc.
It is not possible to install this software separately without using the recovery CD because these programs are part of the image.

2.) as far as I know the received "Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit DVD of moduslink company is not a restore CD but the real Windows Vista installation CD. That's why you need to install all the tools of Toshiba and the drivers after installing Vista. This CD does not include additional software such as OneNote or WinDVD

So finally, you will be able to install Works 8.5 on Vista because you have one working on CD separately but it s not possible to install OneNote from recovery CD

But you can try another way. You could create a second partition and you could install the Vista to the second partition.
Laptop you would use the two operating system; XP and Vista. The Vista also provides a clean boot manager.
Therefore, it is very easy to switch between the two OS's.

I can't create an installer on LabView, after install the Vision Builder demo and then uninstall it. I can't create a Labview Installer more, he asks me an installer of generator of Vision, even if Labview my program does not have nothing to do with it...

Hi, Shada, this can happen if you include additional installers to your installer for example DAQmx. When you do this the installation program must include other files like MAX (Measuremente and Automation Explorer). Probably when you installed Vision Builder he updated MAX, so when your Installer try to understand MAX, his request the source where it was installed in your computer in this case Vision Builder.

Here you can cache information so it is not asked once again, or you can download a version more recent fo DAQmx, then it will update MAX and change the dependecy.

Original title: WMC no longer works after update of August 10

Windows Media Center has stopped working after installation of my Windows 7 Professional pc all 11 updates gave me on August 11, 2010. I used system restore to the day before the updates, and install them individually. The first 9 no trouble with WMC. But the IE8 KB982664 for Windows 7 compatibility view list caused my action center to report that I needed to check the undeclared solutions to problems. WMC would still start. But after installing KB983590 .NET framework 3.5.1 for Windows 7 x 86, WMC has stopped working.

After you uninstall update 2 above WMC would still not start.

After using the system again restore forward updates, I installed the other 9 updated with, so far, no problem with WMC.

    Hi Davy-D,

Step 1: Perform the upgrade on the spot
    a. close all applications, insert the DVD into the DVD drive of the computer.
    b. in the settings window, click install now.
    c. click go online to get the latest updates for installation (recommended).
    d. type the CD key if you are prompted to do so.
    e. click Yes to accept the Microsoft software license agreement.
    f. on the type of installation do you want? screen, click upgrade.
    g. when the installation is complete, restart your computer and check the difference.

See Method 2 of this article:

Very Important: Run a repair installation will not damage files and applications that are currently installed on your computer. However we recommend that you back up data, performing the steps incorrectly can delete data.

  • My computer is completely messed up after installing the latest updates from Microsoft. I need help/ideas to make it work again.

    Vista Business Service Pack 2
    32 bit
    Acrobat 9 Pro
    Adobe Design Standard CS4
    Sony Vaio

I installed the latest vista updates today.  Three "important"; an option.  The optional parameter was an update of bluetooth toshiba.  We were talking about "platforms" that made me uncomfortable so I went to Microsoft and after reading it, I decided - based on little understanding - it was probably necessary.
Shortly after, Acrobat 9 Pro wasn't working anymore. The computer asked me to restart after installing updates, but I have done a couple of things, including some e-mail.  During the attempt to send e-mail until I turned off the computer, Outlook flash he has been restarted and then the icon to install flash and then I could come back and type until the sequence started.

I turned off the computer and when I rebooted, it did not start.  I managed to get it started; I run scandisk; now, when it starts to get a series of errors from Adobe for various Adobe programs that I installed on the machine all seem related to the "Automatic Setup" (or boot, I don't remember exactly.  I tried to re - install Acrobat and I get an error message that the 'source' is not available, and to ensure that it is - despite me using the installation disc, so I guess that it refers to the 'source' in Vista.  Outlook does not start.  He told me to use scanpst.exe to analyze the .pst files, but they seem to have disappeared.  I have tried other products of office except Explorer who started without problem.

I can't use restore because it says that the disc is damaged and needs to be checked.

    Any ideas are appreciated.

Uninstall the update for bluetooth.  Never use Microsoft device driver updates.  To avoid this does not happen, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows:

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  It will scan and try to solve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a cause.  Who can release the OS to do a system restore or other recovery options.

Do you know when this problem started (probably with updates)?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure:  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.

If the system restore does not work, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure:  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using with burning software like: and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not work, try to start in safe mode (repeatedly hit F8 key so that the start and go in safe mode with networking).  Then we will check some of your system files:

If it does not, then thanks for posting any repetitive error message in Event Viewer on startup (Start / Control Panel / administrative tools / Event Viewer).  Here's how to use Event Viewer:

If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure: as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following:  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work.  You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs).  If the version on system with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled cane and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to do a slipstream drive as follows:

I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.  Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.

If none of these steps work, transfer your question in Forum Windows Update: where the people who specialize in updating the questions will be more than happy to solve your problems.  Don't forget to tell them what updates you downloaded and installed, and what steps you have already done to try to solve the problem.

    Good luck!

    Windows Update problem (new)

The following procedure applies in the case of installation (reinstall) Windows 7.  It does not apply to a usual, normal day.

I'm afraid that you will do the reinstall again.  Not a terrible penalty to pay.  Usually takes less than an hour.  Then immediately proceed to the next procedure.   It's strange, but it really does work and many people have proved it.

NEVER install anything other than Windows updates until your system is up-to-date.  Once you have the list update, install all together.  Installation of updates in batches is not expedite the process or do better.

    1. Before you begin to re - install, download (32 or 64 bit) KB3083710 and KB3102810 in advance and store on a USB
    2. Start and end the re - install Windows 7 SP1
    3. Before that the newly installed system can go online for the first time, Disconnect the computer from the Internet.  This chronology is essential.
    4. Install KB3083710 and reboot manually.
    5. Install KB3102810 and reboot manually.
    6. Restore the Internet connection, and run Windows Update as usual.
    7. After a few minutes, you should have a lot of updates to download and install.
