  I encountered a problem with my current setup which was not picked up by the tool advise cRIO or by the engineer of applications OR that we used to check our configuration before starting the project.  It turns out that the NI 9853 CAN modules require a XNET driver that is not compatible with the NI 9149 expansion chassis.

  We currently have a system with a cRIO NI 9068 with general IO and some CAN controller and CAN open modules in a carrycot and an Ethernet NI9149 with more general IO expansion chassis and more CAN and CAN open an another pod remote modules and all of this should work under water, so I can not move the modules of the expansion chassis to the chassis controller without a lot of overhaul of the system and equip and a team of angry engineers and technicians.

  I have developed the FPGA code for the 9068 OR and have CAN and CAN open networks works with happiness.  Then I tried to copy the same FPGA code on the expansion chassis and it compiles, but when I try to launch it I get the error-63184 code.  After long calls OR support, and tries to install the missing drivers on the expansion chassis, we discovered that XNET is not compatible with this chassis.

  Can anyone suggest the best course of action?  Is there an expansion chassis Ethernet that will support XNET?  I have here no information online about this compatibility issue that I can't find?

  I'll be communication with DIRECTLY, but from previous experience of the "odd" questions, I know the community often hold the key.  Any suggestions gratefully received.

  It's official.  CAN open modules are not compatible with the expansion chassis.  I have them moved to RIO and will get the upgraded pods.

• Write a question about basic series and Read.vi

  I tried to use the base series write and Read.vi to simulate the funtion of Hyperterminal, communication between the pc and the device via COM port. The question I have is, when I open the vi, under the name of resource VISA option, I don't think my device used COM port. I clicked on the button refresh, but always, always shows only COM1. And when I entered the hand COM7 (what I used) and click Run, it would show the error message: "invalid resource specified, Parsing error."

  I need to read and write data to and from a serial port (rs232) independently and simultaneously .

  I'm sorry that I can not put a picture of that, but it's very simple:
  

  I used "set up the serial port" and forwarded to two while loops, the resource reference.

  a loop is reading data and the other loop is writing data to the port.

  the problem is when the playback loop (function serial reading) waiting for data - it blocks the other loop to run (writing of the serial function is blocked).

  I searched the forum and find this visa open function has 'duplicate session' option - that's what I need?

  If true, can someone explain exactly how to wire and use it in the right direction?

• How controls are grouped in the front pannel "write basic series and Read.vi.

  I wonder how the controls are grouped on the front. An example is the "basic series write and Read.vi. The rocker of Scripture and the 'rope to wirte' are grouped in a raised area. I couldn't move individual out of this box control when I tried to arrange the controls. How they are grouped and how do I move them individually?

  I am acquisition of analog voltage signals and who to write to a text file when the condition is true, so there is life-long. However, the written files contain only 100 samples (my buffer size)... I need my files to read the samples until the while loop is stopped. How can I do this?

  The key here is the mechanical action of the button "start gathering. As the mechanical action has been "lock when released" the 'real' value would be read once and then go back to false, then the writing on a measure 'turn on' input file would be true once, that is why it would only write to the file once.

  See this knowledge base and the example of 'Mechanical Actions of Booleans.vi' he mentions.

  With respect to the producer/consumer, I searched "producer-consumer" to ni.com and came up with a description (first cause), a tutorial and an example of using DAQmx all on the first page of results. Definitely use ni.com research because we have many valuable resources available out there.

  Here is the following situation: I have 3 parallel while loops. I have the fire at the same time. The first loop reads the data from GPIB instruments. Second readers PID powered analog output card (software waveform static timed, cc. Update 3 seconds interval) with DAQmx features. The third argument stores the data in the case of certain conditions to the PDM file.

  I create a functional global variable (FGV) with write and read options containing the measured data (30 double CC in cluster). So when I get a new reading of the GPIB loop, I put the new values in the FGV.

  In parallel loops, I read the FGV when necessary. I know that, I just create a race condition, because when one of the loops reads or writes data in the FGV, no other loops can access, while they hold their race until the loop of winner completed his reading or writing on it.

  In my case, it is not a problem of losing data measured, and also a few short drapes in some loops are okey. (data measured, including the temperature values, used in the loop of PID and the loop to save file, the system also has constants for a significant period, is not a problem if the PID loop reads sometimes on values previous to the FGV in case if he won the race)

  What is a "barbarian way" to make such a code? (later, I want to give a good GUI to my code, so probably I would have to use some sort of event management,...)

  If you recommend something more elegant, please give me some links where I can learn more.

  I would use queues instead of a FGV in this particular case.

  A driving force that would provide a signal saying that the data is ready, you can change your FGV readme...  And maybe have an array of clusters to hold values more waiting to be read, etc...  Things get complicated...

  A queue however will do nicely.  You may have an understanding of producer/consumer.  You will need to do maybe not this 3rd loop.  If install you a state machine, which has (among other States): wait for the data (that is where the queue is read), writing to a file, disk PID.

  Your state of inactivity would be the "waiting for data".

  The PID is dependent on the data?  Otherwise it must operate its own, and Yes, you may have a loop for it.  Should run at a different rate from the loop reading data, you may have a different queue or other means for transmitting data to this loop.

  Another tip would be to define the State of PID as the default state and check for new data at regular intervals, thus reducing to 2 loops (producer / consumer).  The new data would be shared on the wires using a shift register.

  There are many tricks.  However, I would not recommend using a basic FGV as your solution.  An Action Engine, would be okay if it includes a mechanism to flag what data has been read (ie index, etc) or once the data has been read, it is deleted from the AE. 
  
  
  There are many ways to implement a solution, you just have to pick the right one that will avoid loosing data.

  Some say that if the tablespace is online, this means that its READ WRITE and when its offline then its READ-only.

  So, what is the difference between them:

  ALTER TABLESPACE tablespacename online; -> is it means its READ WRITE now?

  If Yes, then what is the use of the following command if above 2 commands? :

  When the tablespace is read only - no write operation cannot be performed i.e. etc. INSERT/UPDATE/DEL. Oracle says that read-only tablespaces provides a way to protect the historical data so that users cannot modify it. You can drop objects, such as tables or indexes, to a tablespace read-only, but you can't create or modify objects in a tablespace read only

  In order to bring a tablespace OFFLINE to ONLINE - so that it is available to users, you must "ALTER TABLESPACE online tablespacename" command. A tablespace online can be READ ONLY or READ WRITE mode.
