Can Tecra M1 - I use my DVD drive in an external enclosure?

Hello

I had one laptop Terca M1. Now, I have another PC Toshiba laptop which Bay is not compatible with the M1. So I can't use my 'old' on this new laptop dvd player.
Is there an available accessory Slim external enclosure to use my dvd drive external usb?

Thank you

HP

Hello!

Which is a good question, but as far as I know that it doesn't have these adapters.
But you can look on eBay or ask your computer dealer for this.

And I agree with Akuma. I think the best solution would be an external USB DVD drive.

Good bye

  • Tecra S5-10 X - CD/DVD drive causes BSOD with new CD not burned.

    Hello!
I have a laptop TECRA S5-10 X with windows XP (downgraded from Vista)

My computer has trouble dealing with discs not burnt from the interface of microsoft. Make a right click on the drive takes more than 20 seconds to answer. After 2 - 3 times (sometimes right the first time) with or without ejecting the disc, I get a blue window of death "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".

I tried the Toshiba DVD Diagnostics passes.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver.
I tried to do repair for windows
I installed service pack 3 for Windows XP
    I've updated the bios
I've also updated the (Microsoft says it might be useful) NvIdia video card driver

    Nothing helps.

I'll be very happy to get any other suggestions that will help me avoid a reinstallation of windows.

    Thax in advance

    H.

I think you should try to remove the top and lowerfilters as Akuma said. This often solves problems with the CD/DVD drive.

In the worst case, you must reinstall Windows.
You also have this problem only with XP or Vista?

I doubt that it is a hardware problem so reinstall Windows could solve it.

  • Tecra 9100: After the CD/DVD drive upgrade IDE #1 error apears

    Hello!

I'm a happy user of Toshiba laptops, and I like my Tecra is even older. My setup is a PIVm 2.0 Ghz and a few days, I changed the HARD drive. This isn't THE PROBLEM.

Now, I have a 80 GB Seagate HDD and works very well. Days ago, I bought a DVD - RW, H - L space (Hitachi-LG) GWA-4082N, origin of another towing specifications.

When I boot the IDE #1 ERROR message is displayed. In windows works fine, recognized as the secondary Slave PIO mode only. I am integrating then, I searcehd the web and found solutions.

I've read on C - SALT and reversed the master/slave issue. I downloaded a firmware for Toshiba, same version for my DVD but nothing. In my opinion, is for Toshiba, but not for this model. So I tried the solution of jumper pins 45 & 47. 47 pins Cable sync/select and 45 is identical to 48 GND.

The solution is good half. I started the laptop and does not work, no more ERROR IDE. In windows is now secondary master UDMA Mode. Works very well...

THE PROBLEM: it's that I turn off the laptop, pick up the DVD, battery and Commander edge and when I reconected all back, the #1 ERROR IDE is sown again :(((.) Therefore, works, but sometimes it is not. What is the problem? Even with the 45 & 47 pins the message. I have readit pins 35, 36 is something CSEL0, CSEL1...

I do more short films? Or where I can find a good firmware for my drive or the software to mass the firmware...

Please read this post and I hope you can help me!

    Hello

As you already know not all ODD is compatible with a laptop because masters /slave and c - salt settings.
These parameters are controlled by a firmware and most often but not always these firmware located on sites of car manufacturing.

I don't think you'll find this firmware on the Toshiba site. It s recommend buying the good player but don't not to Flash the firmware.

Anyway, I also found the statement on the connection of the PIN 45 and 47 together.
This is a solution in time and not recommended because it will damage the other pins.

  • Can not detect a CD or DVD drive

I got my dell dimension 3000, a few years ago. My roommate about it and started to download a lot of who knows what. Thus, he got a virus. I cleaned up and then one day my DVD player no longer works. My CD drive still worked at this point in time. So last year, I bought a new DVD player to install in it. I then open it and pull my old one. And do what you know. Now it cannot detect my CD player either. And my new DVD is just as useless. So I put in the old DVD player, thinking that my CD player would work once again out of luck. But now I get an error message everytime I turn on my computer, saying: he can't start the CD player, because it is not installed. I got tired to see this message, so I asked the Bios not to try to read the disc whenever it turns on. Is there someone who can show me in the right direction to get this working? I just used a second computer and make a network connection to a Cd drive to formal and reinstall windows Xp. My CD and DVD drives are still not being displayed. I couldn't drive resource of work either because I couldn't remember how to make this connection network player again. So I put the CD on my external hard drive and tried to use it this way, but it did not really work. Some of the things just turned into shortcuts.

    Please, help me!

    Hello

You are not able to boot from the CD/DVD drive?
If you are unable to change the boot order in the BIOS, I would advise you by pressing the F12 key immediately after starting the laptop.
A start menu should appear, then you should be able to choose the reader of CD/DVD (ODD).

You can also try clicking on the C instead of the F12 button. The C button the STRANGE start.

    Check this back and forth!

  • CAN/if you are using a hybrid drive in a Fusion DIY drive

I have seen many messages discussing the benefits of a hybrid disc vs a Fusion player, but have not seen it asked, so this is. You can use a hybrid drive as a rotation by a walk of merger? Should you even consider this? Or is it a waste of money? Logically, it seems that you should get some performance advantage, but I am not given that data out of "streams" on the rotating disc. I can't understand that having the fast cache on the hybrid would make a difference or not.

    Thoughts?

No, but I guess that you could opt to eliminate a Fusion drive using the hybrid with an SSD.

    ===================================================

    After the foregoing:

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

Step 1: Please make all underneath the same if you have done some before as is often
the set of operations that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device.
The driver tab - click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then do a RIGHT CLICK
the reader - UNINSTALL - REBOOT this will refresh the default driver stack. Even
If the drive appears not to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, might

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then check
in both ends of the cables. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For portable computers, you can
Often, clean power and contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the system
Designer and manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case
(Read burn CD & DVD and CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 pieces
No function while others do so properly.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? He

    be the cause.

Check with your system manufacturer Maker and possible device for two firmware

and the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys in my opinion, are those in question - for the CD/DVD drive - sub
the key of course because there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific
involved as well as the settings key.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

  • To install the new eSATA / SATA to USB 2.0 hard drive in an external enclosure but the computer does not recognize the drive in disk management

I have an old computer with installed Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and 3.  I bought a new hard drive and also a new external hard drive for her case.  I have correctly installed the hard drive inside the enclosure, and I think that I have installed correctly (in the motherboard SATA port) eSATA port, according to the manufacturer's instructions.  I plugged everything... first eSATA, then power and power switch.  I restarted the computer, and I chose to analyze disks in disk management.  However, the new drive is not recognized.  The SATA port on the motherboard could not work or did I buy the bad, perhaps, hard drive enclosure for my system?  Or something related to the software?  Thank you.

    Hi Donnadream,

Connect the hard drive to another port and check if that makes a difference

Step 1: You can follow the steps mentioned in the article below, which deals with a similar question

A computer that is running Windows XP cannot detect a USB, an Apple iPod flash drive or an external hard disk drive

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/925196

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756/

Step 2: Download and install the latest drivers from the chipset of the computer or the manufacturer of the motherboard and check

Step 3: Hard disk can be turned off in the BIOS; You may want to enable

Important: Change BIOS (Basic input output system) /semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

If the problem persists, it is a hardware problem, contact the manufacturer of the hard drive for a more specialized help

XP cannot natively just burn it to a dvd, use third-party software such as nero or roxio.  From there, you can choose which drive to use.
Also, if you want to watch on a dvd player, you have to burn as a dvd-video disc, a pc can read both this type of disc or a dvd data disc, where you just burn the file as it is on the disk.

  • Tecra M10 - 17U use second HARD drive in the Bay of ODD

    Hello

I try one of this popular box that allows me to put a second hard drive in the Bay optical slot, I use a Sata to Sata adapter, so there is not really an adapter and more properly connect:

    [http://www.akasa.co.uk/update.php?tpl=product/product.detail.tpl&no=181&type=Enclosures&type_sub = 2.5%20Enclosure&model=AK-OA2SSA-BK]

My problem is with the BIOS Toshiba waiting for a STRANGE device in this Sata port and cams out with a "CD" error, disable the Sata port.

I have a workaround, if I start the PC, BIOS after with what this either in the Bay of the STRANGE, after Windows starts, I have insert the second HARD drive in the Bay of ODD, go to "Windows Device Manager" a 'check for changes on the hardware"and voila, the second HDD works fine , for me, it shows a limitation in the BIOS.

Y at - it assistance, a Beta BIOS or something else, I have the latest BIOS 3.00 for this machine installed.

    Please check this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=39412

It seems that Tecra M10 does not support a select bay that would allow you to use a 2nd HDD rather than the ODD.
    As far as I know select bay is compatible with the Tecra M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, S1, S2
