Can we install windows vista 32 bit OS on a computer that is pre installed with windows 7 64-bit OS?

@ Ken... I tried installinng windows vista by using the recovery disk that will get a customer with the computer dell laptop... and then he was trying to install vista on my computer... It works fine when installing files, but it is and stucks where he says 'finish installation' and he won't do anything after that... I tried to restart my computer and I could see Microsoft coportation logo and then my computer stucks to this screen and wont connect in... not sure what exactly to do... by the ways for your reply thanks

You cannot use recovery discs to install with, if not for the exact model computer that you install.  You need a full installation detail of the model of Vista operating system you want to install since you don't downgrade your operating system to a system that offers no right of demotion.

  • Satellite A300 - 1GN PSAGCE - can't find the Vista 64 bit drivers

    Hi all!

There is what happened to me: I didn't not all drivers for this laptop after my renstalled Windows Vista 64-bit operating system.
I tried to find it on the net but I can't. Theres no readers for this model of Toshiba PSAGCE.

I tried to install a few other Satellite drivers but I have always problems with bluetooth, some unknown device and others.
I have no recovery disk so I'll be gratefull if someone could send me a recovery for this laptop or just contact with me that we could talk about it.

    Thanks a lot guys ^^.

You don t have a recovery disk because you didn't he create until you have formatted your HARD drive! So, this is your mistake!

Now you won't find all 64bi Vista drivers for this model of laptop.
There are 32-bit Vista and XP drivers but none drivers 64 bit Vista.

But I assume that Toshiba it will publish in the next few days if all goes well

However, you could try to test some drivers 64 bit Vista which are released for other models of Toshiba. Several series of laptops use the same devices and therefore some unique pilots could also functions.

Last but not least, you can search on the Web sites of manufacturers of chip 64-bit drivers.

LAN driver can be found on the page of Realtek.
WLAN on Intel or this Toshiba WLan http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/ portal page
BT can be downloaded from here http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/

  • Can I use my Vista 32 bit key for activate Vista 64-bit?

I want to upgrade my Vista 32 bit OS to 64-bit. My computer came with Vista Home Premium 32 bit pre-installed but I want to run a 64-bit OS so I can enjoy the benefits as the increase in the capacity of RAM. If I can get a copy of a disk of Vista Home Premium 64 bit and I want to know if I can use my OEM key for activate Vista 64-bit, if I had to do a full clean install?

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
Yes, you can use the same key, but make sure that the installation is performed only once and a 32-bit parallel installation with the same key on other computer should not exist.
You must perform a clean installation only and upgrade/downgrade cross-architecture (32-bit to 64-bit or vice versa) is not supported.

    1. you could get a friend who has a DVD of Installation of Vista and borrow it. Use your own product key.

    2. call your computer amnufacturer. Request a set of recovery disks. It will cost very little and should be.

At the same time ask to talk to a technician and ask the tech if they had installed a recovery on your computer partition.

They will know the answer because they would be those who have installed the recovery partition, not Microsoft.

If the answer is Yes, ask the technology to teach you how to access and use the recovery Partition.

  • Satellite P200 - 1 K 9: can I put the Vista 64-bit.

    Hello

I was wondering if my p200 - 1 k 9 can be upgraded to the 64-bit version of Vista. I was told it will improve performance, but have been unable to find anywhere on the net, if I can indeed be upgraded or if there is no significant increase in performance to justify the cost.

I use my pc mainly for photo and video editing in Adobe production studio suite.

Thanks for your answers in advance
    Richard

    Hello

Why not??? Satellite P200 - 1 K 9 belongs to the series of PSPB6E and according to the page of Toshiba Europe, all Vista 64-bit drivers are available.

But I don't think you will see a performance gain by using a 64-bit version of Vista.
To be honest, I would Setup not 64-bit because of the compatibility problems with some 3rd party applications.

I have no experience with Vista 64 bit, but with XP 64 bit version and I can tell you that I had a lot of problems with my 3rd software because it was designed for 32 bit OS.

But finally it s your own decision

  • Can I change the Vista 64-bit to 32-bit operating system

try to download the player to move. Comcast said opertating system needs to set to 32 bits.

is there a way I can change the setting from 64 bit to 32 bit

Check the installation provided with your computer discs, I hope well supplied with. With a little luck you'll have both versions on the disc.

If you do not have to buy new windows, be sure to buy the commercial version, because there the two versions on the disc. In this way, in the future if you want to go back to 64-bit you will have the option.

  • Can I switch from Vista 32 bit to Win 7 64 bit on hp pavillion d4790y?

I have 2 gig ram, but really need to accelerate up to 8 GB. I would also like to get win 7 for the office. Before all this, I need to know since my current OS is 32-bit, but 64-bit capable, if I install windows 7 64 bit will it pass from 32 to 64? And then the 8 GB of RAM will actually work if I buy that as well? Will I run into all the problems of the material inside (processor or motherboard (intel core 2 cpu [email protected] ghz))? I do not understand 32-bit to 64-bit conversions... Thank you

    Hi, Ciaroman:

As I explained to wb2001, there is a difference between an upgrade on the spot and a custom (new installation).

An upgrade in place means that you keep all of your files, programs and settings when you upgrade to Windows 7.

While I always recommend backing up your files in case something goes wrong, all you do is pop in the disk on the Windows desktop and it installs Windows 7 and other than that, your PC is just the way it was before you upgrade, except that you now have Windows 7 instead of Windows Vista.

You may need to install a couple of pilots, but that should be all you need to do.

When you move from a 32-bit to a 64 bit OS OS, you can do an upgrade on the spot.

You have to backup all your files and completely reload all programs, files and personal settings once your new 64-bit OS is installed.

This installation method is called a custom or clean installation.

Now as for the memory... Basically, Crucial memory is the same as the memory that I posted from NewEgg.

If you feel 'safer' purchase of Crucial, by all means do so.

I just give you options for less expensive, but also as a decent memory.

    This choice is yours.

I can't say, I bought my memory from NewEgg (essential or patriot) for laptops and for a few years now and never had a problem with backward compatibility still.

Here's an article on the latency CASE that explains better that I could. Basically the more latency, faster memory performs. This is not the same as the speed in MHz, it performs to.

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/CAS_latency

So, as the number 5 of the same 800 Mhz memory chip should give you a slightly better Windows experience index # a chip number 6.

I'm not an expert of memory. I didn't even know there were fleas in CASE 5 PC2-6400. I thought they were all CASES 6 and that all modules in memory PC2-5300 cases5.

In any case, I went with Crucial memory because it was cheaper at the time.

    So, to summarize...

Upgrade on-site is NOT the same as a custom upgrade.

In place keeps all the files and settings and install just the OS on the existing.

Custom: All files and programs must be reinstalled after installing the OS.

CASE 5 memory 'faster' than the memory of 6 CASES.

Just for fun, when you get your floppy drive to install W7 (I recommend buying retail package so that you get a 32 bit version and 64), put the 64 bit OS installation disc in the DVD drive on the windows desktop and see what happens.

Then, remove the disc and insert the W7 32-bit installation disk and see what happens.

You will then have proof positive, there is no way you can do an inplace upgrade to an OS 64-bit to a 32 bit OS.

Personally, I would do a custom (clean install) of a 32 to an OS 32 bit or 64 64-bit OS anyway. I am suspicious of an upgrade inplace carrying luggage old to the new facility.

Please report if you have any other questions or need additional assistance.

    Paul
