Can we move a user profile to a hard drive with an operating system that is non-working on a hard drive with a working os?

My profile the user has administrative rights and was created with Win XP pro.   I installed the old hard drive in a working win xp pro system. Can I transfer the old user profile in the system of work (drive E to the C drive) and connect with it?
