  • I cannot access internet Windows XP.

    Hello

My name is Tommy and I need help. My desktop computer shows that it is connected to the internet, but when I try to use any application that requires the internet (IE, firefox, chrome, League of legends, etc..) I get a 'connection error' / Web page isn't reachable. Internet works on my parents and my sisters computer, so I don't think it's a problem with the router (even if they're using wifi). My firewall will not turn on either. I tried a reset winsock, but to no avail.  I ran a few antivirus scans and eventually find a sitting trojan.muldrop in my System Volume Information folder, and I deleted it with by Dr.Web CureIt. After the removal of the virus, my computer will still not access the internet, and I can't turn on my firewall. Please help if possible!
    Thank you!

  • McAfee Internet Security doesn't work after may not update Windows

After automatically installing a dozen Windows updates in these last days I noticed that I could access is more of McAfee Internet Security.  Whenever I clicked on its icon, it displays the error: -.

"The 459 ordinal not found in the dynamic link library urlmon.dll.
I tried to restore the laptop and McAfee has worked once more.  I then went through the painful process of re - install the updates of Windows one at a time to determine if any of them were the cause of the error.
After having installed and restoring, I finally managed to get all, but it updates to install without the problem of training at McAfee, determining as the next security update will cause the problem experienced: -.
    * Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows 7 (KB2847204). *
In this case, I do not use Internet Explorer 8 at all – I use Google Chrome, but I don't know if McAfee Internet Security uses IE8 somehow for its own purposes of display.
For the moment, I've forced Windows updates not to install KB2847204, but if someone could let me know, a proper fix, that I would be grateful.
    Thank you.

Very well. Your answer tells me that the specific IE9 version of the a Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer published on May 14, 2013 (e.g., KB2829530) was included when you installed IE9 manually.

The version of IE8 specific KB2829530 have been installed. If so, using the system restore to solve your problem (uninstalled vs KB2847204) probably "screwed the dog."

    That being said...

-Online manual installation of IE9 may have included the specific IE9, "defense in depth" version of KB2847204 - especially if it is not available when you run a manual check for updates now.

-Online by definition, Cumulative Internet Explorer security updates [1] include the changes introduced by all the previous updates security (e.g. KB2829530 & KB2847204).

-Online if the next security update is provided & installed via automatic updates (even if IE9 can be turned off) and no problem (with the application of McAfee or something else), all should be well.

=>, It would seem that the IE team has abandoned its policy of about four years of the release of IE Cumulatives every two months so if expect to see the following out on Friday, June 14, 2013 (if not earlier).

PS: even if he can prove that KB2847204 was a "buggy" update, I would never advise anyone to NOT install security updates.

[Yes, this is all very confusing!]

  • Cannot access internet after installing the latest Windows Update

    * Original title: Question access to the internet after you have installed the latest update

Last week, I installed the latest update of Windows 8, however once installed, I was no longer able to access the internet and became a message saying that the page cannot be displayed. Below it there is a button to click to solve the problem of connection but I did and it came back with no connection problem.

I reset my router, but there was no question that I could access the internet on my phone and my roommates laptop. The only way that I could access the internet again was to restore my pc and remove install.

I was then forced to install the update tonight and it's the same thing so I had to uninstall these updates again to access the internet.

Can you please tell how can I install the update it will affect my ability to access the internet?

  • Cannot access internet occasionally during the day. Having to reconnect.

    problem 169.254

My PC is running XP and is licensed and up-to-date. I connect to Internet using ISP Orange and a Livebox router. Occasionally, maybe once a day, I can't access the Internet or e-mail. I can't repair the connection, which is to get a new IP address. While in this condition I CAN access internet through my netbook, wireless, which also works in XP. This makes me think that my router IS connected to the internet. I can re - establish an internet connection by removing power to the router and reconnect the power supply after a few seconds. However, this process is very annoying that the router then takes about 3 minutes to make an internet connection.  I found that my IP (before the reset of the router) on my desktop connected cable (that has the problem) has been 169.254.16.60. I understand that it is the beach allocated to private networks. I tried all the suggestions including reset winsock, TCP/IP reloading, loaded the latest drivers for NETWORK card and disable my firewall (Outpost). My PC is permanently set to get an IP by DHCP. It lasts for almost a year now and I think I've tried everything. I don't want to reload XP. I suspect that this has started happening after I deleted a scanning program of free registry that I had downloaded from net ther. I have just run Microsoft Safety Scanner and it has reported, no spyware, malware or viruses. My AVG virus program and is up-to-date.

Anyone has any suggestions please. I'm not an expert by any means think (!) I understand what I'm doing!

    Mike

It might actually be your 'firewall' (Outpost)... that is causing your problem!

(What "adversarial"... with an integrated XP! Even if you say that it (XP) has been disabled! Not COMPLETELY allowing your router working properly, because it is "in conflict" with that, too!)

Turn it off (Outpost)... means that the software application still in your computer and always 'in conlfict"with the XP firewall.

In regard to the average of your software antivirus, crikey, why not OPT for the Microsoft Security Essentials?

    Yes, I did.

It's free, as long as the OS is legitimate, and, as they say,... yours is!

SET all SETTINGS... REMOVE, and everything is DONE (by the 'set up' scheduling)... for you.

(By the way, it uses AS it's very own firewall (firewall Defender)... or XP.) "They are much safer to use.)

Download it, it's ready to install, once you remove moy.

Update as soon as you have it installed, and properly "standing upward", nothing could be easier.

As for your router, I suggest you contact your ISP provider.

To help RESET your router once again correctly!

And, oh, one last thing... Stop your 'DIY '.

('Tinkering' would be used to do any bad problem much worse than it really is! By your own admission, you have done enough of that! Get it all right, even once, then leave well alone.)

  • Cannot access Internet on Windows Update

I recently formatted my computer windows laptop. I'm using Windows 7 Home Basic Edition. After a day or two, I am unable to access the internet even if I am connected to the router. I even tried to access Internet through my cell phone using a hotspot. It too its display "NO Internet access. There is no problem with the router or my cell like everybody else uses it and its works very well. So I tried to system restore to a point where I knew I was able to use the Internet. And here it does not work... But even once after the windows update it stopped working. Again, I must use the system restore to make it work.

I can't find the source of this problem? Because of the windows update or something else?

The KB2705219 update could be the cause and uninstall that solved the problem for some users.

To uninstall an update - control panel, programs & features, [left side of the window] see installed updates. Wait until the system has finished the research for the list of updates. Select update required, then right click and Uninstall.

    But...

In another thread [my computer today installed windows 7 updates, but my internet has been lost.] But the network is visible. [what caused this?] a user has identified this notice - McAfee

Some customers may experience a loss of network connectivity and/or errors in McAfee Security Center after a recent update

While it remains that uninstall the Win7 update than kb2705219 solved the problem for at least two users, you should consider the McAfee fix. At least two users had also reported having removed then reinstalled McAfee earlier in the day and their systems have increased back & run correctly afterwards.

I had to run the MCPRT deletion a few times before and it caused a problem with the license if the PC was not connected to the internet during the abduction. Due cat of McAfee support reset their files in order to allow the relocation-reactivation. Here is their link cat - McAfee - media contains the link to the cat

  • Cannot access internet sites - Satellite A30-92

    I have a laptop Satellite A30 - 92.

Suddenly I'm unable to access most of the internet sites. Can I use it fine at high speed and on the LAN, but using the dial up, no.
I can dial my ISP very well, but it will not download web page. Oddly enough I can get some (but very few sites), but above all no that I looked at the Device Manager and the modem works fine. Looking at the ports I have a ltp printer port, but no com port doesn't appear.

This could be the cause and how to fix? Thank you.
I must say I checked the firewall and even turned off.

Must the connection by modem specific DNS and Proxy settings? Call them and find out.

If you are using IE, try to disable Protected Mode.

Or maybe just try another browser such as FireFox.
