  Yesterday, I restarted my computer and a message keeps popping up that I am victim of software counterfeiting (in reference to Microsoft Windows) when I bought the computer at Future Shop just a year ago. Also, now there is a red X on the speaker icon in the corner and said "no audio output device is installed". I followed the instructions mentioned in another post, as well as other Web sites, and nothing seems them works. Above everything else, I can not access the control panel. It appears and disappears immediately. If this were not already enough, Windows Update does not work or the other. The icon is there, but whenever I click on it, nothing happens.
  I only bought the computer a year ago, and there is already a long list of problems with it. I'm at the end of my rope! If someone is brave enough to tackle these problems, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

  I was choosing to update the video card myself with the latest driver 310.09 being installed, and everything was fine.   Problem not solved! When I did the screen went black, with me ends up having to re-start, the machine came back, and before I can do anything Windows back to or downloaded 311 driver and I'm at square one. Impossible to uninstall any Nvidia or reinstall anything Nvidia.

  If Windows will update a 3rd party driver why it deletes the old software first. Now I have the supplied Windows driver 311 mixed with the old Nvidia provided 310 software update! It's no wonder that nothing works!

• NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL APPLICATION HAS STOPPED WORKING

  I have a big problem here with NVIDIA cards and have not at all been luck. My problem started when I had a clean install of Vista 32 on my HP XW6600 that came with Windows XP installed with the option to upgrade to Vista.   I have a zbook with a graphic of 610 m nvidia quadro. I can't have the gpu to save the settings or when you play. It worked until I tried to try windows 8.

  I did a fresh install of windows 8. Then I installed the drivers cd provided with the workstation hp. All that said she completed successfully and I rebooted several times.

  I updated to 8.1 and reinstalled the drivers. Works fine now.

  Have you checked for viruses or malware on your computer? Just remove any drive Windows should not give you this kind of symptoms.
