Cannot access shared folders on the home network.

Until a few days ago, I had a successful network operation consisting of two Vista Home premium computers and two XP Home.  I have not had problems with opening files or folders before, but now I find I can access shared files and folders on the computer units XP vista, but cannot open the computers XP Vista of the units of the.  I get the following message:

\\user-D5139A8DF2\desktop on IBM is not accessible.  You might not have permission to use this network resource.  Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

I checked the registry as suggested, computers are all on a home network with the same workgroup name.  One solution I found in the forums has to do with my anti-virus Norton N360, but as all my computers are using the same version of that I'm uncertain or not to change the settings.  It's very frustrating.  Can anyone offer a solution or suggestion, please?

Hello

It might be Norton.

If not for "insufficient server memory is available to process this command."

  • Vista can ping machine to another, but cannot access shared folders on the machine

    Hi experts,

    Recently, we have problems with some Vista machines to access shared folders on other Vista machines. This seems to happen after the automatic updates of windows.

    These 'problem' machines are able to ping other machines 'good' but is unable to connect to shared folders machines 'good '.

    The reverse works fine ('good' machines can ping and access 'problem' machines).

    When you connect to folders shared of these 'problem' to 'good' machines machines using \\machinename\folder or even \\machine_ip\folder, the error window "the network location cannot be reached" appears.

    'Problem' machines can do desktop connection remote for the machines 'good '.

    All machines have the parameters: -.

    Same workgroup

    Same domain - private network

    Network discovery on

    File sharing on

    Public folder sharing

    Password protected sharing

    I am not able to find a solution on the web site and microsoft.

    Re-install Vista on 1 machine of 'problem' and the problem goes away.

    The problem with reinstalling is subject to re-registration of certain software licenses which has no registration online (through applications for certificates).
    Is there a resolution without having to re - install Vista?

  • to access shared folders on the cmd line?

    Hi, I'm trying to copy files to the shared folders on the command line. some research I found a few references to use the net use command to associate files with a virtual drive:

    NET use z:
    . host\y (where there is the shared folder)

    or

    NET use z:
    . host\shared folders\y

    However, the syntax is wrong, or this is the wrong approach entirely. pointers would be much appreciated

    Thank you!

    Either you use:

    "NET use."
    VMware-host\Shared files.

    This will be the map a network drive that contains folders in it...

    ... or you use the deep link:

    "NET use."
    VMware-host\Shared Folders\vmware»

    to directly map a shared folder as a network drive.

    BTW: The best way to know what you need on the command line is to map the "Shared Folders" in law by clicking on it in Windows Explorer and then run "net use" to see how it has been mapped.

  • Cannot access shared folders

    Using Fusion 5.0.2 and Windows 8 Professional, I repeatedly tried to download and install Windows programs (for example, Stamps.com) stopped with the message: "could not access network location \\vmware-host\sharedfolders\desktop.

    I have shared folders is enabled in the merger.

    How can I fix?

    Sounds like an installation problem that can not handle when mirrored folders are enabled then... temporarily disable mirrored folders and try to reinstall.

  • After update to 10.11.5 I may more access shared folders/printers Windows PC network

    My Mac repeat myself "you are not allowed access to this server." whenever I try to connect to a shared folder on a Windows 7 PC. Also, I can't print on a shared printer connected to a Windows PC.

    These two things worked perfectly before the update. Nothing has changed on the PC.  I tried to restart both computers. I tried without sharing and re-sharing the folder on the PC. The folder is configured to allow "free access" to "everyone" access as guest.

    Any suggestions?

    No problems like that here (post - 10.11.5). But inter-networking with windows has been hit or miss as long as I remember. Good luck finding the bug...

  • Cannot access shared folders WRT610N

    I have an external hard drive (Seagate FreeAgent) formatted with a single NTFS partition.  I created two new users, two new groups (one for each user) and two new actions (also one for each user).  When you try to map a network share or user is able to log on.  Each of them get a Windows (Vista) "Logon unsuccessful" message that either the user name or the password are incorrect.  I tried the 'username' and the 'Groupe_travail' formats for usernames without success.

    Try upgrading/re-Flash the firmware on your router.

    Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. Download the latest firmware from the site Web of Linksys and save it to your computer. Open the router configuration page and update the firmware on your router.

    After upgrading the firmware of your router, it is recommended that you must reset the router and reconfigure.

    Press and hold the reset for 30 seconds button. Release the reset button and wait 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure.

  • The computers on the home network can't see the other

    Hello

    Portable Windows 7 Ultimate my two computers cannot see each other on the home network. Both have their firewall off the coast. We have McAfee installed (but disabled). I can't ping or computers. Both are on the same workgroup. Both are on the home network. Both have their network discovery is enabled. Both have active LLTD protocols.

    A computer cannot find homegroup on the other computer. I tried both ways. All important services are successfully started and running. No problems with network connectivity to the internet. I can ping sites like google.com and yahoo.com. I can't just ping the other laptop on the network. Any ideas?

    Thank you

    SS

    FYI: I have UltraVNC running on both computers. However, the program does not work b/c computers can't see each other. I also have LogMeIn installed on both. This works because logmein works via the internet.

  • Home network with 2 PC with Windows 7 and 1 PC Windows XP. When sharing files via the MSHome network I have permission errors. How can I solve this?

    original title: cannot open or copy some files within the home network

    I have a home network that are connected by a router.

    A (main) pc is connected via a cable to a router on Windows XP pro sp3.
    2 other laptops running Windows 7 connected via Wifi.

    All of them configured to work with the workgroup MSHOME.
    On the pc main (with XP), I have a folder shared with full access, including change files. The folder contains videos that are uploaded directly to it.

    Sometimes 2 other laptops can not access some files, they see them but can't open them or copy them, I get this error:
    http://S3.PostImage.org/623foisor/image.PNG

    If I do the following:
    On my main pc I move the movie file in this folder to another folder and then bad bring it back.
    The file can be accessed and copied!

    What's wrong?!

    I'm glad that you guessed it work.

    Permissions show that "Everyone" has full access inherited, so that the list must have been made after that you have added everyone.  "Everyone" in this list without a guest user (or any user if you have active Simple file sharing) would not have permissions on this folder.

  • Cannot map the shared folders to the drive letter in WIndows prompt

    I seem to have a problem with the shared folders in a Windows on Fusion 6 client. Turning on shared folders in the VM options creates the "VMWare shared folders" shortcut on my desktop, and I can open and view files shared host, as expected. However, it is not map the shared folders to drive Z: in Windows because I expect, and I can not also go to shared folders using the path "\\vmware-host\Shared records" (for example, only by typing in the address bar in a window of the Explorer). It is a problem, because I need a path that I can put scripts to refer to things in the shared folder.

    Also, if I access network in Explorer, vmware-host is there but trying to open it gives me the error "Windows cannot access \\vmware-host."

    I'm running 6 Fusion on OS X Mavericks, and the guest is Windows 8.1. My .vmx file contains the following lines which I think are related to shared folders:

    insulation. Tools.hgfs.Disable = "FALSE".

    hgfs.mapRootShare = 'TRUE '.

    hgfs.linkRootShare = 'TRUE '.

    sharedFolder0.present = 'TRUE '.

    sharedFolder0.enabled = 'TRUE '.

    sharedFolder0.readAccess = 'TRUE '.

    sharedFolder0.writeAccess = 'TRUE '.

    sharedFolder0.hostPath = ' / users/buck/projects.

    sharedFolder0.guestName = 'projects '.

    sharedFolder0.expiration = "never".

    sharedFolder.maxNum = '1 '.

    For me, the weirdest thing is that I can get for shared folders by using the shortcut on the desktop, but by typing the exact path and the shortcut points to in an Explorer window does not work!

    If anyone has any suggestions on how I could get this works normally, I would be very grateful - thank you!

    Hi Buck,

    Welcome to the community.

    Have you tried to re - install vmware tools in your windows 8.1?

    ARBuck wrote:

    I think you should activate windows network discovery if you want to browse vmware host in the network.

    You can enable this by

    Control Panel-> network and Internet-> Network and Sharing Center-> the advanced sharing settings
