Cannot access the Windows Update Site

Search engine links redirect us to different sites, not associated.  I get an error message - the connection was reset - when I try to access MS Windows security updates.  I do not know how to find the problem, when I can't access resources Ms.

You can try:

If not post back with more information, like what Windows operating system you use including Service Pack level, what security software you use and error messages that are related to the update that is causing problems.

Thank you.

    Hi trski,

I recommend you to check for possible malware program.

1 restart the computer using safe mode with networking. If you have a Type of Internet connection wireless, have a wired internet connection. To restart in Mode safe mode with networking:
    a. press the restart.
    (b) at the moment you press the restart button, keep tapping F8 until that Advanced Boot Options appears.
    c. Select Mode safe mode with networking
    2. open the Web browser to explore and go to http://safety.live.com.
3 scan the OneCare Safety Scanner full Service.
    4. take note of the items that are detected, but cannot be deleted, as appropriate. Get back to me with the names of the infections that cannot be removed, if necessary.
    5. after removing the infection (if any), start in Normal Mode by restarting just the normal computer like you do it.

Run Windows Update again, and get back to us with your findings.

    More troubleshooting options

    • If your computer is connected to a network and the problem persists, contact your system administrator to see if your Microsoft Update settings are managed by using Group Policy.
    • If your computer is not connected to a network, or if your system administrator has not disabled Microsoft Update, check if the Windows Update service is disabled or stopped. For information about how to start a service, search help and Support on your computer.

I don't quite know what to do next.  I would like to be able to access this site for updates that cancelled or failed during the update process automatic (and who seem not to be re - that appear as options when I check the updates).

    Hello

You try to go actually on here Windows Updates site?

    http://www.update.Microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us

This site does not work for Vista. You must use the Windows built-in to Vista updates or download them
sites I posted for you last time.

Absolutely do not use the default Administrator account. Just make a new Admin account to
use and leave the other to test and difficulty. In fact, make an Admin NOW account to use to test and fix
According to the needs. If your sole administrator corrupts you will have a big headache.

As of May 11, 2010 I could not access it for 2 days now.  I get an error report indicating that he has a "problem with the site '... Not sure if it's my computer or the site itself. I just need to check updates and download them. I would be grateful for any feedback...  Thank you!

It is without a doubt.  There were a few patches published today, and I was able to update all my machines successfully.  This looks more like a virus problem.  Have you run a virus scan recently?  Many times, if you are infected the virus will prevent you to access Windows Update.

You can also use Microsoft Fix It to reset the Windows Update components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058.  This could also be your problem.

Let me know how it goes,
