  I found the solution to this problem. I went to another Windows help forum. It is to reset the Windows Update program. I tried the one here on the Microsoft site, and it did not work. But I tried this one http://wind8apps.com/windows-update-error-code-8024a000/ and the fist solution worked like a charm. He fixed the update and install issues with Powershell 2.0. After that and a certain number of updates, it's updated, Windows Update will update to the latest version. After this release he went and found many updates, I had to install.   I seem to have a problem similar but different enough to justify a new thread. I uninstalled my video drivers, now, I have to reinstall because it wasn't the problem. System Restore was only a restore point on March 1, which did nothing even though the computer was working fine, March 1. I do not have the Windows disc, I split the cost with a friend who's in Arizona that I know, and he has probably lost the drive now.
