Cannot be opened in the control panel internet options. XP home sp3 ie8

I've used several malicious programs (housecall, MS Security Essentials, Malwarebytes) so my computer has to cringe.

I also tried several programs Hot Fix to read other questions here. Nothing seems to work, so far.

I can't remove sp3 or ie8 in Add/remove menu. The option 'remove' for these aren't there.

I can access the net, but impossible to download anything. My toolbar is missing and I don't have a tools option. HOWEVER, when I use FIREFOX, all downloads are working well and the toolbars are present.

So. Is the problem with XP? SP3? or ie8?

Would appreciate any help. BTW. I use "Disk Cleanup" to delete temp files more net and such. I also use disk defrag very often.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Guess I'll answer my own question.

The problem is the installation of ie8 BEFORE sp3! The solution is to remove sp3 FIRST, then remove ie8. None of them are simple. Especially when there is NO delete option in the menu Setup/add/remove Control Panel! SP3 (service pack 3) is written so that when it is installed, it cannot be deleted. Not completely true (TG). See below.

Before you start, I used the following: use 'disk cleanup' several times. It will remove the "accumulation" temp Internet files and much more. Do a search for "Housecall" by Trend Micro and run their program of malware. Also run the program "Microsoft Security Essentials". Also run program "Malwarebytes". I felt 'safe', after completing these 3 programs, my computer has been completely 'clean' Malware!

After removing sp3 & ie8 the computer comes back to ie7 sp2. NOW you can install sp3 FIRST then install ie8. All the functions have been restored. Tip. After installing ie8 set all THE security level for "default". Change levels if necessary.

It CAN be done, because I did it myself clean my computer with XP 32 bit. There's hours and hours of research and a LOT of patience! Follow the links for XP Misrosoft get information HOW to enter the mode of elimination of sp3. Tip. When finally he did think your home 'free. ' You are not. The program will tell you that MANY other programs will be deleted also. This isn't the problem. They'll come back later when sp3 & ie8 are reattached. The program will automatically 'delete'... up to a point. And then stop. It will then say something like; cannot find the file (the file is). The program to keep it open. If you quit the program, you will have to start all over again! Click Start, search, and enter the name of the file, the program is looking for. Once you've found where is found the file, enter the program. The program will accept the news and then go to the next "file not found". Do the thing to search again... There are MANY of them. It's a good idea to write this file the program to research and write down where the file is located. SP3 was finally 'removed '.

Tip. I had to look for "hidden files" to find some of the files.

Removal of ie8. I ran into the same problems as above and more. More files to search for. The last part was the most difficult. The program wanted "ieencode.dll.000 (it is zero, zero, zero).» There is NOT a file in the computer by that name! I had to go in ie8 in my "program files" to find 'ieencode.dll' and 'Rename' to 'ieencode.dll.000 '. IE8 has finally been removed!

I went to Microsoft.com, and then under 'downloads' or 'support' found 'service pack' info and installed sp3. Once sp3 has been installed FIRST (!) I installed ie8.

I started to have the "automatic updates" after that. 75 I think. I have just "installed custom" them. 1 single update was not installed. Something KB. The reason why it has not installed is because he was already in another place called "power shell. You can only (the thing kb) find in Add/Remove programs. It doesn't have an option 'Remove', but once I saw it was in another program (and a LOT more files would disappear) I decided to NOT go down that road... again.

My computer is in PLACE and works better than ever.

Good luck!

Normally if you want to clear this history of jump list, you can do the following:
    1. right click on the Start button and click on "Properties".
    2. under the "Start Menu" tab, uncheck "Store and display recently opened items in the start menu and the taskbar" to turn it off.

If you are still unable to get rid of the recently-opened items, try to delete the history of list of jump, which is stored in the following location:

  • After download of Internet Explorer 8 I can't open all the icons in the control panel. On display is come information that Windows cannot find 'C\WINDOWS\system32\rundll.32.exe '.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Yesterday, I downloaded Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 web from Microsoft Download Center.

After downloading Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, I can't open any icons in the control panel.

On display is come information that Windows cannot find 'C\WINDOWS\system32\rundll.32.exe '.

    Help, please. Thanks Gene.

    Thanks Gene.

    Dear: :

Running sfc/scannow will not replace the missing rundll32.exe file.

Why you post methods that do not work and will be just wasting time?

Hove you never even seen this problem before, tried to recreate it so that you can actually see, or have you never really fixed?

Why you learn not what sfc/scannow does and does not do?

Here is a simple test to you and all your colleagues in the technical support engineer:

Rename or delete just your c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe file is "missing".

    Rename rundll32.exe---> rundll32.xxx

If you started normally, before you can blink, the 'missing' rundll32.exe file quickly and quietly replace the copy in the dllcache folder.  It is the Protection of Windows file in action and you will see something like this in the Event Viewer log system:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Windows File Protection
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 64002
    Description:
File replacement was attempted on the protected system file c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe. This file was restored to the original version to maintain system stability. The file version of the system file is 5.1.2600.5512.

I beg you to perform this simple test to know how the sfc/scannow:

Boot your system to Safe Mode or the recovery for the Windows File Protection Console does not run.

For this example, we will use the system critical file rundll32.exe.

Rename or delete your c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe.exe file so the file is now "missing."

A critical file, is it true?  It is on the list of the file 3498 knows the Protection of Windows and SFC files, but now he isn't.

If Windows File Protection is running, the "missing" file would be quickly and silently replaced (try to rename or delete it in normal mode and it will be quickly and quietly replaced).

Now, with your file rundll32.exe missing, start in Normal mode and try to use something like control panel to open something like Power Options and you'll see that familiar message:

    Control Panel
Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe '.  Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click search.

Now you have recreated a common problem with the missing file and seen the error of our own eyes.  A Microsoft Support Engineer will usually suggest running sfc/scannow for this kind of problem, but it will not work or help and you can prove it to yourself, and now you have reproduced the error.

You follow own advice and run sfc/scannow to the end.

The rundll32.exe is always had disappeared, right?  Did run sfc/scannow replace the missing critical system file?

How can he be so sfc/scannow is supposed to replace the missing system files?  This is because it is not this that sfc/scannow does.

Now you know sfc/scannow does not.  He did not replace your missing system file (don't forget to put your rundll32.exe back so you will have a).

Now, go to c:\windows\system32\dllcache and delete or rename the file rundll32.exe from there - and it will be gone and not replaced automatically because the Windows File Protection does not seem after this record.

    Run sfc/scannow in full again.

Replace the file rundll32.exe missing in the dllcache folder, since it handles missing files (not the system32 folder) IS the folder that sfc/scannow.

    Now you know sfc/scannow does.

Do you need help to know too much about the corrupt system files?

Since most people do not have a genuine XP bootable installation CD, they will not be able to develop a copy of the file that is missing from the installation CD, they have not.

After some directions on how to replace the file when the user has no XP bootable installation CD authentic and that will be useful to all.

If you don't know how to say "I don't know how" and I'll help you.

You want to inform/warn the poster that SP3 is installed that running sfc/scannow will take a long time for the installation of SP3 CD?

If you do not have a CD with the same Service Pack as your installation (most people don't), the posters are in for a rough and frustrating time.

Of course this will help with the detachment of the Ministry of Education of the impossible to try things that don't work, but I thought I'd throw it out there for the 100th time.

I suggest that you want to run System Restore on your computer.

System Restore will take your computer state permeable when it did not face such a problem, this can be done by selecting the correct restore point.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
