cannot change the date and time in the system restore

How can I change the date and time in the system restore? When I try to create a new restore point, I can't change the date and time, the system automatically date and time in.

System Restore will always set the date and time of any restore point created at the effective date and time of the machine.

If you want to restore your computer to a date and an hour earlier, you must select restore from a restore point that was created at the earlier time.  This article explains how.

With the help of the Windows Vista system restore
http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

My apologies if I misunderstood your question.  Why should change you the date and time when a restore point was created?  The only possibility of achieving a fictitious date and time will result in a change as actual date and time Windows or in the Bios, either option with unforeseen consequences.

Following the advice on a Wikipedia page to remove a virus 'active security scan', I accidentally deleted a potion of my registry (software?)  Now I can't access any .exe, .lnk, files etc.  I get the message "windows cannot open this file", and then me accesses a page with no software suggested to open the file.  I tried the system restore, but get the same message when I try to open the system restore program.  Any suggestions?

  • Windows automatically restarts constantly, cannot access the system restore point, cannot access the computer in safe mode

    Hi all

For the not 24 hours I tried to access my computer in normal mode. When I turn on the pc, it says "configuration data 1 of 3 steps...". 0% complete"he never spent 0% and within seconds, it automatically restarts and starts again. It's so frustrating! I have a windows vista pc (purchased in ' 06). I can only access my desktop in SafeMode.

I tried to perform a system restore, but not like he says "recovery disk is not the restore point selected. What should I do? I tried to manually create a restore point, but cannot access the system and Maintenance, while in safe mode. I can't do anything but literally access the internet. How can I get Windows back to factory settings it is with these limited resources? I have a Dell reinstallation DVD.

I searched my programs and found that recently Windows automatically updated and downloaded "Microsoft Powerpoint Viewer" and "for 2007 Office system Compatibility Pack '. Now, I think it has something to do with it, because they were the most recent updates, before the pc crashed. But I also fear that it may be a virus, which has completely hijacked this PC. How am I supposed to get rid of a bug, if I can't even get the necessary antivirus?

Sorry for the ranting, but it's so stressful when my pc is completely down. Please, please please help me. Thank you in advance for reading this same!

  • Cannot use the system restore

When I tried to do a restore of the system after a software installation failed I got the message "system restore is disabled. You want to turn on? "I clicked the Yes button and then got a screen display that she couldn't be turned on because"system restore has been disabled by group policy. When I searched for how to change group policy, they told me to go to start, run and type gpedit.msc. When I tried that I got an error that gpedit.msc does not exist on my machine. Can someone tell me please how to restore the system restore. I am running an old Vaio with XP, but it still works very well this problem.

Also, I tried it while logged in as an administrator, it is not part of the problem. I do not have a system restore disk because it did not come with the machine and I forgot to make one, but I have a disk of Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Do I have to re - format the entire disk to fix this? I use a sturdy old Sony Vaio, which works very well except for this problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

How did you delete the system restore?

I think you have bad things on your computer (or you did at some point).

If you have XP Home Edition, you have no Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc), but the error message that you declare (if it's like my examples), indicates that group policy has been changed, so that something has changed.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Perhaps GoBack is it for you to prevent you from using SR then you would be forced to use use GoBack instead and I do not wish to install GoBack to find out.

Malware "break" things that he knows that you will use to try to get rid of it... like the Task Manager, the restoration of the system, the registry editor, etc.

The malware is happiest when she can trick you into thinking you need to do a repair installation, use a Restore Point or even a complete reinstall when none of those things are needed that outsmart you, and then got rid of with MBAM and SAS.

AV tools will not often catch these things because they can not tell if policies have been disabled by malware or if you made on purpose, so just leave them.   MBAM will point out a few of them as suspect and give you the opportunity to correct them if you wish.

The malware may also know you have XP Home and adjust policies that he thinks that you do not have to be set because you have no Group Policy Editor - This is how he thinks and that's what he does.  He wants that reinstall you XP from scratch.

First run MBAM and SAS if you want.

I've done to the top of this edition of registry for you :).  It's an accumulation of things that responds to all things under the sentence "If you see things like...". ».

If you just want to see if you can get your work of SR and are comfortable editing the registry, you can go here:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore

Find and delete this registry key:

    DisableSR

That's what this line in the file .reg on top:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore]
    "DisableSR" = -.

    He "skins" (removes) politics DisableSR.

That will solve your problem of immediate SR, but will not any question that you have not yet set.

Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

But, as I said, if you have in your registry, you have probably other things too.  My regedit will fix all the things I've seen come with the question SR whether or not they have need of fixing.  It does nothing, it will remove anything that might be there (you have at least one).

Then, you should broaden your horizons AV because what you use dropped and could not protect your system.

Or, you can wait and see what other people have to say.

First of all, if your anti-virus removed viruses/malware you don't want to use system restore. This is likely to give the malicious software on your computer.

  • Cannot complete the system restore

    I just updated these updates-

Update security for Windows Vista (KB2419640)
Update security for Windows Vista (KB2478935)
    Windows Live Essentials 2011 (KB2434419)
Windows malicious software removal tool - January 2011 (KB890830)

After this update, I restarted my computer and had to update Norton Antivirus as well. I noticed that my Windows Sidebar was no longer on my desk, but after a search for the sidebar.exe, I found the exe file disappeared. Back to the window of Windows Update, the updates above are still reported.

I tried a system restore to an earlier date, but none of the crossings would never restore completely. I'm not sure what to do next - of ideas?

Try your Safe Mode system restore.

Shut down your computer > turn it back on and immediately and repeatedly tab key F8 until you see a black and white screen. The top/down arrow and select Safe Mode. (You can select Safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, if it is required.)

Can someone help, please? -have been Googling for a few hours now :(

As a last resort, you can try the following procedure:

"How do I recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP startup"

Which essentially restores the registry from a backup copy kept with the files in system restore.  In part 2, select a dated folder until you have had this problem to copy the registry of the.  Personally, I find it is easier to start from free Linux Livecd like Knoppix , in which case you can start the procedure in part 2, step 6 using Linux and paste to copy files to their desired location.  Live CD of Linux has no problems with dealing with the status of "Super hidden" System Volume Information folder.

  • Sort by date and time.

    Hi people,

I'm having a really hard time trying to sort through a bunch of images per hour.  Sort by date, reverse. and I can't sort it the right way.  I can not even find how to sort by time.  Any help will be really appreciated.

    Al

You cannot sort by date and time separately. You always sort by date/time. Capture date/time or change the date and time. The order is defined by the (A / Z) icon or via the menu View->-> Crescent/descending sort.

  • EU set date and time why?

I don't know if I have a virus or I messed up things myself. I had to restore my time until the exact date because it has been changed for 2002. I'm not good with computers, so that's what I did this morning: I turned on my computer and got a text with a logo for American Megatrends at the top. I had no idea what it was what worried me, it's from a virus and the text did not correspond to my screen for me to be able to read I turned and on my computer. Then I got the usual error message asked if I want to start Windows normally. I click on start normally. Then I could not connect to hotmail and my Webroot Antivirus was misinformation that changed checked it a-2998 days ago and next check would be 2008. So I figured out I had to change my date and time to the right pair. Before that I tried the wrong way, I guess that my internet time synchronization attempt. I got an error message for each of the listed to synchronize with. So now its exact date/time and I've updated my Webroot info has been fixed too. I have had no virus warning when scan with an anti malware program before correcting the time or with Webroot after correction.

    Hello

This problem was not likely to be malicious.

The American Megatrends has your system called BIOS or CMOS settings/settings? Your BTI
battery need replace - real-time clock located on the motherboard of the computer.

If necessary to replace the CMOS battery on a laptop you probably need a real computer store
(no leeks and glances at a BestBuy or BigBox stores) or the manufacturer of your system support.

    Press to resume, installation

I guess it's because my CMOS battery has had? Is this a known issue with this laptop and how do you get him to replace?

    Hello

It seems that your laptop is the wrong time in the CMOS (BIOS).
If you can get into the BIOS, check the date and time settings and ensure that they are correct.
It may also be a case of the CMOS battery out. In this case your laptop will tend to not keep the correct time.
In this case, you must connect the power adapter and should leave it connected for 20 to 24 hours. At the end of this period the CMOS battery must be fully charged.

    Good luck and best regards

    Hello

    ·         Since when are you facing this problem?

    ·         Did you the latest changes on the computer before this problem?

    Method 1:

The date and time in the BIOS settings may be incorrect.

Important: Change BIOS (Basic input output system) /(CMOS) complementary metal oxide semiconductor

Settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
