Please point me in the right direction, it seems that Ive tried everything. ID realyy don't want to spend money on software

Hi Christophe,

-With which user account you have connected? It is a standard user account?

-What happens when you try to change the settings? You receive an error? In the affirmative, please let us know the exact error message.

Since you are not able to create an administrator account, I suggest you to enable the built-in Administrator account.

1. you must start the computer by using the Windows 7 installation media.

Follow the steps in http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-are-system-recovery-options#what-are-system-recovery-options=windows-7 to enter the recovery options in Windows 7.

Note: See the manual of the computer to change the Boot order in the BIOS and set the CD/DVD as first boot device.

2. Once you start the computer by using the Windows 7 installation disc, follow the instructions on the screen then go food Advanced Options and select command prompt.

In the command prompt, type net user administrator / Active: Yes

After the command finishes, restart the computer and then log on to the administrator account by default, change the account type of the old user account and make as administrator and check if you are able to change the settings.

Follow the steps in the http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/change-a-users-account-type to change the account type of the user account.

Once you have set the administrator type account with your user account, disable the default user account by following these steps.

1. login to your user account.

2. open the command prompt, type cmd. exe in the run search and right click on cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator.

3. type net user administrator / active: No.

This will disable the built-in Administrator account.

Hope this information is useful.

    Hello

You cannot use a Standard (Local) account to change the administrator account. You can only use an administrator for this account.

Open the control panel (place the cursor on the bottom/left corner of the screen... and right click, select Control Panel from the menu

In Control Panel, select user accounts.

    Select Manage another account.

This will show all the user accounts on the computer. If there is an administrator account, it will show this designation.

To log off and log on with an administrator account.

Back to the account user/screen control.

Select Manage another account , then select the Standard account you want to change.

Select the option Change the account Type .

Select the administrator option to change the account and click Change the account Type .

If there is no other administrator account, let know us and we can try another method of recovery.

    Tell us what you find.

On my HP 510 laptop, I want to change the power mode to one of the user accounts.  It cannot be changed of in the user account, so I followed these instructions: log in as administrator, do the selection desired in the list of available eating patterns (Control Panel, Power Options, eating patterns), click on apply, then log in as administrator.  I find that the selected power mode has been applied to the administrator account, but not to one of the user accounts. I tried to change in the user account, but still receive the "access denied" response

I recently installed Microsoft Security Essentials. My reading of various internet stations indicate that some older antivirus programs may have hindered this process of power management. I was not able to discover how to inactivate Security Essentials, so did not try to change the mode of power without interference from her.

    Hello

You can change the setting in see Group Policy for this document:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc730920.aspx

Or change temporarily the user to an admin account, make the changes and then return as a standard user.

  • You cannot change the administrator rights

The biggest problem that I have without having administrative access is that I can't uninstall programs, updated ones I use or change my display settings.

I never did nothing for my computer and am the administrator, this problem just happened on its own. I can not disable UAC because he is not authorized by the Security Center.

I just want to be able to take control of my computer.

I tried to make orders on the run screen, but he also tells me that I don't have administrative control to do that.

I tried to run in safe mode, but it still does not allow me, because this shield bit stupid with four color blocked me to make changes.

Please help, this user access thing really sucks.

    Hi Lobo_Tech,

Step 1: You can try to settle the default Administrator account and make sure that the problem occurs.

    1. click on theStart button

    2. on the Start Menu, clickall programs Accessories followed

    3. in the menu accessories, right click on the option from the command line

    4. in the menu that appears, click on the option"Run as Administrator"

    5. If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled, you will be asked permission before the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.

    6. in the command prompt window, type the commandnet user administrator / Active: Yes and press ENTER.

    7. close the elevated command prompt.

    8. close the session (in the Start Menu) and you will see your new administrator integrated next to your current account.

    9. click the photo icon display built-in Administrator account and connect to it.

If the problem is resolved, then try to disable the default Administrator of the following account:

NET user administrator / active: No.

If the above steps work, then you can try to create a new user account and check if it helps.

You can view the following link to create the new user account:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

You can run a virus scan and check if it helps:

  • Cannot change the guest account group

Long story short.  The guest account is somehow in the Administrators group.

    I use Windows Vista Home.

When I am logged into the guest account and I look under the name he said administrator.  I'm going to change the type of account, it shows that it is in the standard group.  It won't let me even change for the management group.  It is in the Administrators group or what?  READ MORE that it gets better.

When I'm on the command line and I type net user comments he says that membership in the local Administrators group.  Now, here's what I don't understand.  I do net localgroup guests comments / add and it will add to the guests group, and it is then in the customers and group administrators.  I can then do net localgroup guests comments/delete and it deletes it.  Now I CANNOT net localgroup administrators/delete comments because he says that it is not within the group, BUT if I net localgroup administrators comments / add that also says that he cannot do it because it's already in the Group?  That continues.  A I royally mess up something or it's a certain type of problem?  Please help me.  Thank you

  • Cannot delete the administrator account

    Hello:

I am an administrator in Windows 7 and I cannot delete another account Administrator named 'test '. When I select the "test" account in the management of accounts, I get the list of choices:
Change the name of the account
    Create a password
    Change the image
    Set up Parental controls
    Manage another account.
When I click on my original administrator account, the list of options is:
Change the name of the account
    Change the password
    Remove the password
    Change the image
    Set up Parental controls
    Change account type
    Remove account
    Manage another account
The 'delete account' does not appear in the account of 'test '. So, how can I delete this account 'test '?
    Thanks for any help.
    Alex

The "Test" account was probably the original ' administrator' account until you have renamed it. It cannot be deleted. You can find as follows:

    1. Click on the globe to start, and then type the three letters cmd into the search box and press ENTER.
    2. Type these commands and press ENTER after each:
      net users
(to see a list of all accounts)
      NET user test
(to see all the details for the test account)
Anyway, as one admin account is a bad idea, even than having just a key to the House. What would you do if something was wrong with this single account? At all times, you should have two accounts admin fully tested and documented.
