cannot configure remote assistance

I can't set up on Vista or 7 remote assistance.

When I click on system properties remote desktop is not displayed
or the options of three selections.

I use a standard Netgear router.

Remote Assistance and remote desktop are two different things.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-is-the-difference-between-remote-desktop-connection-and-Windows-remote-assistance

If it is the remote desktop you want to use, settings that you refer to are no longer available in Windows Enterprise/Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise. The computer you want to connect to must run one of these operating systems. For more information, including how to configure your router, see:

    -------------------------------------

Recently, I contacted Hewlett-Packard technical support with problem in my laptop HP G62t-350.

Their tech wants to take control of my laptop, so I initiated the request. Their technician is recognized and I accepted the remote control.

He kept showing "to leave, please wait...". "and we are never connected.

Last week, I contacted my ISP Comcast and, even once, they wanted to take control of my computer using TEAMVIEWER.

    We were never connected.

As you can see, there is a problem with Remote Assistance.

Can you help me to solve it?

    Thank you.

This morning I called technical support for HP and the technician fixed it:

The problem was that Usersname administrator has been corrupted:

1 - created a new usersname (HP) - tested remote access and has worked very well.

2 - deleted my original usersname

3 - recreated my original usersname - tested remote access and has worked very well.

4 - remove the new Usersname (HP)

5 - tested the remote again and worked fine.

    Hello

    1. what software do you use for remote assistance?

    2. you receive an error code or message?

    3. have you made any recent hardware or exchange of software on your computer before the show?

Please provide us with more information on the specific question for the solution as soon as possible.

  • I am trying to accept an invitation from my mom's remote assistance and this is what I got after entering the password: connect Remote Assistance could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer cannot be resolved.

I am trying to accept an invitation from my mom's remote assistance and this is what I got after entering the password: connect Remote Assistance could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer cannot be resolved.

You get the error "a Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer could not be resolved" when the requesting computer (the computer 'demand' help) sends its private IP address instead of its public IP address in the request for assistance. The solution is 'easy' for some and difficult for others. I present here for your perusal:

    (1) obtain the public IP address of the requesting computer (by visiting a web page such as http://www.whatismyip.com)
    (2) save the remote assistance request computers
    (3) modify the remote request for Assistance (RcBuddy.MsRcIncident) using a text editor (such as notepad) and replace the private - section of IP address should be something like this:
    RCTICKET = 65538,1,192.168.1.33:3389 «»
with the public IP address from whatismyip.com or elsewhere - should be something like this:
    RCTICKET = 65538,1,74.125.47.147:3389 «»
    (4) save the file of RcBuddy.MsRcIncident 'new '.
    (5) double click it to connect to the computer needing help
    (6) cross your fingers and hope it works!

I hope this helps someone else - if it's too much trouble, feel free to use the tools mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

Keep in mind that if the person seeking assistance uses a router (instead of connecting directly to the modem), then you will need to redirect port configuration.  The request when she sends uses the IP address of his computer, but that the IP is not always accessible to the public.  For example, IP address of my PC is 192.168.0.4 (the 4th computer on my network at the present time), and this address cannot be used to connect to my PC.  You know my public IP address, so, I need the configuration of port forwarding to direct your incoming connection to my public address during my internal IP address (called traversal NAT, or network address translation).

There is a reason, I generally recommend free tools that use HTTP transport instead, like Team Viewer app free (for personal use).

  • A Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer could not be resolved

I am trying to use remote assistance to help with my brothers computer. We both use XP, but when I try to open remote assistance to view and or even take control of his computer, I get an error message: connection A Remote Assistance could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer cannot be resolved. Why this might be happening?

    Hello

It depends on how the computers are connected and their intellectual property regime.

They are on the same network (e.g., connected to the same router)?

    Through the Internet? Something else?

  • You can use XP remote assistance to Vista or Windows 7?

I can give remote assistance from my XP computer to someone under Vista or 7?

No! and Yes! There are a few compatibility issues, as a break, if breaks Vista XP won't know and voice, there is voice in XP but not Vista. Vista can offer help with XP, but XP cannot offer assistance to Vista. On the Microsoft Downloads you will find much better program called Microsoft Shared View is free. Install you in your computer and your friend installs it in hers. Then you can help each other. Fun and later comes back with a thanks!

This question is not met at the time of the request

I created a Blog post to allow other servers to 2012r2 2012r2 of remote assistance.

However, it is not possible to use 2012r2 to help a win7 server remotely. It is simply not supported by MS and there is nothing we can do.

If you can create a server 2008r2 to run the Management Console, you will be able to assist distance Win7 VDIs from here.

  • Windows 7 remote assistance displays garbled desktop

I'm trying to connect to the asus laptop of my mother to help her, but each time, remote assistance is used, the his office appears in monochrome color and is coded/biased. This is not a problem of the internet, because the connection is through our internet and home network is not used to establish the connection. Between the two laptops Remote Desktop works fine, not display problems what so ever. so I don't think that it is a configuration issue with the router or other system. Unfortunately we have only two systems win7 (my laptop and my mums), so test it with a third windows 7 PC is not possible. I'll try to connect using my XP Pro desktop computer, but I expect that it does not at all due to differences in OS version.  my moms laptop has some kind of custom AMD/ATI discrete video card that is not able to use AMD drivers, so im not able to upgrade to the latest version of the drivers on his cell phone. My laptop has, however, the last driver from NVidia (314.22) package because it is the video card.

Yet once again, this problem is NOT with Remote Desktop, which works very well between our two PC.

This is NOT a connection problem. I am able to connect to his PC, very well.

The question is when his office is shown through the Windows remote assistance program.

I have already run all the troubleshooters there, who have found NOTHING of EVIL.

the remote assistance connection is made using easy connect through our home network.

any suggestions on the internet do not work as the connection to the local network traffic never leaves

Apparently, Microsoft is aware of this error and has released a software fix. the link is below.

My only question is can I install this fix on my mums laptop, my laptop, or both?

Remote assistance does not display a desktop computer that has a resolution of 1366 x 768 correctly in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2665720

I tried this fix and it works very well for my Windows 7 Home Edition basic with a resolution of 1366 x 768 as the server end (from where the remote assistance request is created). Now the display of remote assistance is more blurred.
