Cannot connect remotely ASA5505 on code 8.0.5

I have 2 ASA5505 firewall deployed, 1 in the data center (code v8.0.3) and 1 at a remote site (code v8.0.2).  Remoteness has 2 PCs that connect to the data center to access services directory, file servers, Exchange, etc.  ASA5505 firewalls are configured for a site to site VPN.

We had problems of stability with the ASA distance we decided to upgrade the code first.

We have updated the data center 8.0.5 and everything was fine.  I have given me flows and that I could enter the two ASAs since the data center via ASDM and ssh.

Then I updated the remote location 8.0.5.  Now, I can't ASDM or ssh to ASA unless I am at that location.  PC are always able to connect to their servers.

I can't do a ping, telnet, ssh or ASDM inside vlan ip address while I'm at the other site.  I see in the newspapers of being built on the distant firewall incoming connections, but it is not creating a new outbound connection to the movement of the answer.

8.0.5 did something to block connections to management from outside?

It is an odd, thanks for sharing the solution!

I have trouble connecting to remote a Macbook (10.10.5) of an external HARD drive mounted which is connected to an iMac (Mac OS X 10.10.5.) The iMac is connected to the internet via an airport express base station 7.6.4.

I created an account of sharing only to connect to this drive and I've had no success connecting to it outside the local network of this external hard drive.

I've only tried to plug the hard disk via finder > go > connect to server > name.local/locationOfExternalHarddrive of the computer and have had no success so I think the explicit base station is the question?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I've only tried to plug the hard disk via finder > go > connect to server > computer name.local/locationOfExternalHarddrive

This is assuming you have CCMM configuration and working properly... without it, Wan, there is no way that the computer can find computername.local

You need the public IP address of the router... and there may be only a single router. Normally, it is not possible to use IP because it is dynamic, with a home ISP accounts then you must configure the global DNS name or a dynamic DNS account.

Please read Tesserax doco on remote... the best method is Apple CCMM.

Airport drive - remote (3 methods)

A simpler method in my humble OPINION is teamviewer... same as Apple CCMM without as many restrictions.

Any method of remote access requires a careful configuration of the home network. And the Mac must be able to wake on lan... (apple have their own fancy name for it).

  • Cannot connect remotely via VPN since installing the new modem/router

Can anyone help please. Since the acquisition of a new router / modem I can no longer connect via VPN to my work PC remotely. It comes in I receive the error message. Can someone tell me if I need to change the settings for the new modem / router to access?

    Hello Joanna,

Here are the steps you need to do first:

    1. Off static IP for my server and let the router assign IP address and changed the IP address of the port forward.
    2. Check the IP address because obviously, that changed when you plugged into the router again.
    3. Updated to the latest firmware for the router and NIC.

  • Essbase Studio Console cannot connect remotely to Essbase Studio Server

    Hey all,.

I could use some help with Essbase Studio... I installed Essbase in distributed environment (Studio, Integration Services, and Essbase Server are installed on the same machine). Now, correct me if I'm wrong, I'm starting Essbase Studio Console, when you are prompted, I should enter the server name (address) Essbase Studio Server where, as a result, the machine mentioned above. It works fine, when it's done in client tier installed on this machine, but I can't seem to log on remotely (from another place), the error is: network communication with the server failed. Check your network connection and try again.
    Connection timed out: connect
    All advice? Thanks in advance.

The studio console can be located anywhere and connect to studio server, if the server of the studio is definitely up and running, it could be a firewall issue, make sure that the ports of studio are certainly open.

    See you soon

  • Cannot connect remotely TestStand engine-17851

Have had some strange behaviour tries to run the remote call in sequence. It works on certain combinations of PC, others do not! Ex.: A to B (and vice versa) works, C to D also works well, but has to C or C to A or B to D comes with the mistake-17851. As each station works at least with one partner, I expect that all the DCOM settings and configuration of remote engine are ok. This PC is on the same network, the same group, same configuration I see. TestStand version is 3.5 on all machines. Same Windows-TS-User and on all stations.

    Any idea or experience?

    SOLUTION FOUND:

There must be a user who has logged on to the remote computer administrator privileges (as mentioned in the reference manual) and - very important - there must be a password set for these users.

If a user without defined password logs on, Windows blocks all access remotely.

    Thanks for your support!

  • I am trying to accept an invitation from my mom's remote assistance and this is what I got after entering the password: connect Remote Assistance could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer cannot be resolved.

I am trying to accept an invitation from my mom's remote assistance and this is what I got after entering the password: connect Remote Assistance could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer cannot be resolved.

You get the error "a Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer could not be resolved" when the requesting computer (the computer 'demand' help) sends its private IP address instead of its public IP address in the request for assistance. The solution is 'easy' for some and difficult for others. I present here for your perusal:

    (1) obtain the public IP address of the requesting computer (by visiting a web page such as http://www.whatismyip.com)
    (2) save the remote assistance request computers
    (3) modify the remote request for Assistance (RcBuddy.MsRcIncident) using a text editor (such as notepad) and replace the private - section of IP address should be something like this:
    RCTICKET = 65538,1,192.168.1.33:3389 «»
with the public IP address from whatismyip.com or elsewhere - should be something like this:
    RCTICKET = 65538,1,74.125.47.147:3389 «»
    (4) save the file of RcBuddy.MsRcIncident 'new '.
    (5) double click it to connect to the computer needing help
    (6) cross your fingers and hope it works!

I hope this helps someone else - if it's too much trouble, feel free to use the tools mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

  • "Cannot connect to 201.86.73.83 remote connection! (what could cause this popup? where to check?)

I tried to ask as to make following the question to someone else, but no response; try as a new query.

DSL, router Linksys (tomato), a Windows 7 computer, put in place last November for the new project of a member of the family.

The person who has implemented it access distance.  Here, it is used for Word and Excel, no music or video online.

I came yesterday morning and found a popup in the lower corner toolbar on the right that says:

"Cannot connect to 201.86.73.83 remote connection!

(the IP is in the Brazil, I've never heard of him, found nothing more on this subject).

The person who set up the machine has a long experience of Windows, changed some settings on the router and says "there is no evidence of the intrusion, so don't worry.

But I know in general that "the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" - so I'm still a little worried and if I see that again once I know what it means or where to look.

Is there a log file where I could search by application (which one?) no matter what happened in the hours before, I noticed that popup?

I do not know what newspapers is relevant if I can get to the lists and create a custom, view if I knew what to check.

I don't know how long the popup is also present on the screen, the machine had been on it during the night and as soon as I took a screenshot of popup is gone.   It would be over an 8 hour period I want to check out.

Test it on your local network...

If you can connect successfully on your local LAN but can't remember, from a remote location, you have TCP Port 3389 open on the firewall and/or router as the server/host DRC PC is behind. Call using the public IP address of the router or the server/host DRC if your connected directly to a modem. You must also assign the host/PC one DRC address static IP of the server so if you restart the server/host DRC PC it keep its local LAN IP. Do not do can ruin any port forwarding system through any router your behind.

If your on a remote site you are trying to connect to the host PC DRC/server through a VPN? If Yes can you ping the server/host DRC PC when you have the active VPN tunnel?
