  Method 1.
  Here's how you can solve this problem:

  a. download the latest version of Windows Live Messenger available onhttp://explore.live.com/windows-live-Messenger-XP

  b. update of Windows XP through Windows Update.

  c. go to "C:\Program Files\Windows Live" and remove the 'Messenger' folder (Note: replace 'C' with your root drive letter)

  d. go to "C:\programdata" (Note: replace 'C' with your root drive letter) and remove Windows Live install and WLInstaller, if you have a

  e. restart the PC.

  f. run the installation program that you downloaded.

• cannot re - install windows live messenger, please help me as soon as possible...!

  first of all, some of my friends connected from my PC and his contacts were saved, n windows live messenger did not of flashing me to open some error code which ends with... .EE finally and I used zap messenger for delete and tried to reinstall WLM essentially put in place doesnot download WLM juice install from some where in juice a few seconds and I get error code: 80040154 EVERY TIME I TRY TO REINSTALL it. And when the displays is complete programs and features shows live sign in assistant and live upload tool, but non-living essentials icon. Please help me, I use windows vista home basic edition.

  Hi Ernie,.

  Here are a few things that you can watch in which could be causing the problem.

  1. the date on your computer needs to be properly defined - double click the clock verify that the time and date are set.

  2. If your password information is not saved, make sure that you type it in with the proper case (uppercase or lowercase).

  3. change your password @ https://login.passport.com/ChangePW.srf to something smaller (less than 10-12 characters), and then try to connect again.

  4. If you use a firewall (like Norton Internet Security, ZoneAlarm etc.), it is possible that Messenger doesn't have the correct rights to access the Internet. You can try to re / add Messenger to the allowed list of programs in your firewall.

  5. If you disabled your firewall in the past, it may be blocking Messenger - always try to reboot and see if that helps the situation. You can also try to uninstall a firewall installed, to check that it isn't causing a problem (even if it is disabled).

  6. clear your IE cache and cookies - open Internet Explorer > click the Tools menu > Internet Options > click the button Delete files and when it is finished, click Delete Cookies.

  7. check your IE security settings--open Internet Explorer, click on tools, then Internet Options menu, click the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and make sure 'Search' evocation of server certificate is not checked. Also make sure that "use SSL 2.0"and the use SSL 3.0 is checked, then click OK."

  8. Click Start, then run, and enter the following information:

  regsvr32 softpub.dll

  Click OK, and then do the same for the following:

  regsvr32 wintrust.dll
  regsvr32 initpki.dll
  Regsvr32 MSXML3.dll
