Cannot install windows vista service pack 1, 57 gives error code
When you install windows vista service pack 1 that it says code 57 Windows update has encountered an error can someone help please?
Hello
(1) what is the exact\complete error message you get?(2) remember to make changes to the computer before the question?See the methods mentioned below and check if that helps.Method 1:Cannot install updates in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.Note: You should not turn off Windows Firewall unless you have another firewall is enabled. Turning off Windows Firewall may make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers.Method 3:The problem with Microsoft Windows Update is not workingHope this information helps. -
When you try to add a new computer Windows Vista (hqseven) to a Windows 2008 network, I get the following error message... "An attempt to resolve the DNS of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Ensure that this client is set to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain. "Last year, I added two XP, a Windows 7 and another Vista box to the field. I don't know why I can't add my new Windows Vista computer.
I am able to get on the internet with the Vista PC. I can RDP to the domain controller (hqserver64) or any client. (using the name of host or static IP) I can also do a ping of the domain controller (DC) or any another computer on my network using the host name.
After initial search for information, I found the following error message when you do a nslookup from my new vista box.
Nslookup mydomainnameServer: hqserver64.mydomainname.netAddress: 192.168.0.99
hqserver64.mydomainname.NET cannot find mydomainname: Server failed.
I do not understand why I suddenly get these error messages when I was able to reach this area in the past.

Hello
Three years ago, I bought a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. Never met a problem until I tried to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2. I already followed each step instructions Support of Microsoft issues Service Pack for any result or solution. In these cases, I have downloaded the pack update directly from the wepage of Windows Vista, installed Windows Update Readiness Tool, disabled my antivirus (McAfee) and came up with nothing. I even tried to install this update in Mode safe but also failed to install Service Pack 2.
What is happening all the time, is that I double click on archive downloaded in order to install (having already started my computer in Mode safe mode with networking reportoire and disabled the antivirus as well as its firewall). The Service Pack window opens and I click 'Next' for all the necessary instructions, including 'the computer automatically restarts. When the toolbar installation is completed, the computer automatically goes to restart itself. 3 steps appear as a requirement for the completion of the installation process. All goes well until he reaches "step 3 of 3:100% finished. Do not turn off your computer. After about ten minutes of stall in this step, the following message appears on the screen: "the Service Pack cannot be installed, returning from changes. Do not turn off your computer.
The computer then rolls back all the changes and initiated in the normal state. After the opening, the first window that appears displays the following message: "the specific driver is not valid. "(Details): error: ERROR_BAD_DRIVER (0x800707d1). I proceeded to check and update alone driver of my computer, then try again to install the Windows Vista SP2 and all the operation has been a failure. I was cracking my head trying to solve this particular problem, and each time the same error pops up. I am seriously considering reformatting Windows Vista from manufacturer CD from my Dell, but I don't know if that would help.
If someone could help or advise with everything that I would appreciate it a lot.
Kind regards
Rodrigo

- Did you the latest changes on the computer?
- When you receive the error message from error checking?
First unplug all external devices (except keyboard and mouse) and then try to boot to the desktop and let us know the status.
Method 1
Check if the computer starts in safe mode and after back with the results.
Start your computer in safe mode
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
Restart the computer to return to normal mode
Method 2
If the computer starts in safe mode then I would suggest you to perform control and clean boot if it helps.
It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is at the origin of the problem in normal mode.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

Drops of wireless network connection - windows Vista Restart problem
Hello
Recently installed Windows Vista on a new version of a recovered old PC as well as a few new purchases (memory, DVD player, NAS). Everything in place and works very well, but I'm faced with a problem of wireless network. The system works well: internet etc, but will drop the connection to the router wireless without apparent reason, he is followed by repeated reconnection automatic attempts when he will restore a decent connection for a minute or so and then drop again. This continues ad nauseam. The bulk of what a Windows restart will completely solve the problem for an hour or two until it is started.
The research of the forums etc, I tried so far:
-Switching of wireless channels
-Deletion of "turbo" on the router
-Disable IPv6
-Checked drivers are updated
-Check the firmware of the routerI'm also reasonably sure of the following:
-There is no interference (I put 'new' PC exactly in the same place as my old and uses exactly the same network card and router)
-The work of the (PCI) wireless card (available connections always show the router as well as others in the region when connecting).
-The router does not appear these problems with my PS3My details:
-Windows Vista Home Premim - fully updated
-Windows Firewall is the only firewall running
Belkin router - G and complementary wireless card (a good old now a few years but run perfectly in XP)
-P4HT 3 GHz, 2 GB system
-Very little software installed to date (software the only thing I can think of Buffalo NAS relevent)Anyone with a similar experience? It's driving me crazy!
See you soon!
Hello DizzyEgg,
Thank you for posting. Transitional issues are most frustrating to resolve. I think that this problem is with your wireless card. If your PS3 and other devices are not the problems to give up the connection to your router this supports the hypothesis that the problem is in your wireless NIC. We have seen that many times on this forum and I personally had the same problem with a wireless card. The symptoms are identical, will connect for awhile, and then abandons the connection while still showing a strong wireless signal. You can reconnect manually for a few minutes, and then the connection drops again. Restart Windows seems to fix the problem than to have the connection after a variable duration. Unfortunately, the only step in troubleshooting to verify this is to replace the wireless NIC card to test if the connection will be held with the new card. Since you admit that the map is several years old that increases the likelihood of this being a transient failure on the NETWORK card wireless itself.
Thank you
Jack

- To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
- Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.
