Cannot create an Ad - hoc network
I can't run an Ad - hoc network.
I ' ts not an option in my settings if I want to start a new network.
So, if I type adhoc in my Start menu, I get 'een ad-hocnetwerk (computer naar) instellen"translated, from an ad hoc network.
When I click it I get a message "of windows wordt niet uitgevoerd wireless service" Troubleshooting translated, the windows wireless service is not running.
After that, it shows that there is no problem and redirects me here.
If anyone knows why I can't start an Ad - hoc network?
Hello
First make sure that wireless or WLAN AutoConfig service active.
To do this, connect to the computer as an administrator:
1. Click Start, type services.msc and press to enter.
2. Locate the autoconfiguration WLAN Service service; Double-click to open its properties window.
3. on the general tab, change the startup type to Automatic and click on the Start button.
4. apply the settings and close the window.
Check if you are able to create an Ad hoc network.

Cannot create an ad hoc network on Windows Vista
Hi all
I tried to create an ad hoc network on my PC but as soon as I get a name and a password, Windows returns the message "Windows cannot create the network"XXXX" I've not really changed anything since yesterday when I was able to create another network without problem, except a failed restart (to manually turn off my PC because restart took too long).
I tried to change the Autoconfiguration WLAN service (as had been suggested at: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-networking/cant-create-an-ad-hoc-network/94028a00-54ec-4cd1-81a0-ab35718d62e5) but it is already configured in automatic mode, and it did not work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated I need emergency back network!

Vista cannot create a ad - hoc connection if not connected to a router
Summary
I am trying to create an ad - hoc between my iPhone and my VISTA laptop connection. It works as long as my laptop is connected to the router. If I disconnect I can not create the ad hoc network more (error message "Windows cannot setup
"). What I'm trying to accomplish
Get a wireless connection between my iphone and my VISTA laptop without a router or wireless access point. Basically, I use my iPhone as a webcam, connected to the laptop, where an application processes the data stream. I do it in different places, without internet access.
Detailed problem description
VISTA not connected to a network
1. open the network and sharing Center
2. click on "set up a connection or network.
3. click on "Configuration of the wireless ad-hoc (computer to computer).
4. click on "next".
5 network name 'ad - hoc test 1', type of security: no authentication (Open), click "next".
6. Windows returns : "Windows could not set up ad-hoc test 1.
If I repeat the same procedure with my laptop connected to the router (wired or wireless)... It works without any problem.
Any ideas what could be the problem and how to solve!
A big thank you and a happy new year 2011
Emanuel
Hello
The iPhone needs to be configured for Ad - Hoc with a different IP address like 192,168.1.6

How to create an ad hoc network of Wifi on Windows 8

XP host and client windows 7 on ad - hoc network...Dear friends, I have set up an ad hoc network between two laptops. The host is running on xp sp3 and the client is running windows 7.Now the problem is that if I enable security on the network, the client windows 7 cannot recognize the network at all.If I turn off security on the network ad-hoc, everything works fine and I can share files and access the internet on client... Please help
Ok
Now, I'm pretty sure that I understand your game up. Well done to get the internet connection, sharing of work (not a simple process) but without encryption.
I am sure that the problem lies in the Windows 7 laptop (laptop 2). When you switch cell 1 to WEP, you must also pass portable 2 to WEP and provide the WEP key you have configured with laptop 1.
It's getting late here now, but I'll try to answer tomorrow after I have test it on my two laptops to Windows 7. In the meantime maybe I can point you in the right direction...
- Right-click the the small icon at the bottom right of your screen on laptop network 2 and then click on Open Network and Sharing Center
- In network and sharing Center, click on manage networks wireless (nearby at the top left)
- Click Add, and follow the wizard to create an ad hoc network, selecting WEP and providing the encryption key you configured on the notebook 1
- Save the network so that you do not have to repeat this procedure.
Otherwise, when you get to manage wireless networks, if your ad hoc network is already listed...
- Right-click in your ad hoc network, and then click Properties
- Click the Security tab
- Change it to WEP and provide the encryption key
- Click OK
Good luck, I will pick up this new after my drowsiness.

I'm living in a college dorm and only have access to the internet via a hard line to my computer. So I wanted to give my other accessibility of consumer electronics set up an Ad-Hoc network and share the internet connection. When I originally set up the network it works fine, but after the devices go to sleep or I leave the room it stops working. I had problems to keep the internet connection to share continually, which I fixed it. I then had a DHCP problem with the hard line that has been resolved through troubleshooting function. Now, even if the network is active and is connected to the internet my devices cannot connect and then the network shuts down.
Is there a way to create an Ad Hoc network that works similar to a wireless router, so when my computer is turned, it works automatically? If so, how can I make this happen without these problems?
Hello
I suggest to activate temporarily the antivirus as well as windows firewall and check if it helps.
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Disable the anti-virus software

Enable or disable Windows Firewall
