  Did you follow the directions of Dell to reinstall Vista?

  You do not say if yoyu used their disks or you have used the recovery Partition to do.

I tried to Microsoft to take over my computer remotely and sort it out for me, but may not return to the right place in the vast world of Microsoft.

  Before you reinstalled Windows Vista didn't have you backed up your files? If so you back up your files on the same hard drive that Vista has been installed on?  If Yes, then performed reverse would be erased when you remove Vista.  I added some information below for that matter.  Please let us know status.  Thank you!
