Cannot delete the folder (access denied / authorization to administrator)

Recently, after a good 6 months to give a fair chance to Windows 8, I decided to reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop. Installation went very well, no problems (it's the original operating system on this machine). When I installed 7 I didn't format my drive, and so all my files/directories have been moved to the Windows.old folder. I had already backed up everything so I tried to delete the record and was invited to give permission to the administrator. I clicked through and received the error message: you need permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file.

I know that this problem is everywhere, but before dismiss you this as a pointless post, that's what I tried (unsuccessfully) solve this problem:
> Delete manually CMD with elevated privileges (no results, "access denied" after each item has been deleted in vain)
> Turn off UAC (no change)
> Delete using Shift + Delete to bypass the Recycle Bin
> Add a DWORD value in the registry (UseSystemForSystemFolders)
> Start in safe mode with CMD prompt, could not remove with CMD or via Explorer
> Activate the hidden administrator account and remove using the Explorer/CMD
> Change the folder permissions, raise my account permissions and creating a new user name or the group with my account with full access
I spent the best part of 24 hours trying to solve this problem. I would like to avoid reinstalling Windows because I had already transferred 200 GB of data on my computer before I realized it was a problem. Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the reply. I totally forgot to include Unlocker on my list of failed attempts. It has disabled a lock that was in place, but has not changed and he could not remove the file. I tried to move the folder into a zip file too, so I could delete just that but while I am able to move the folder on my drive hard I can't move it to a zip archive.

=========================================
Sorry, I thought that Unlocker is worth the try.

After all, you tried, I doubt that the following articles
would be useful but they both recommend the disk cleanup.

Windows 7 - How can I remove the Windows.old folder?

Windows 8 - How to remove the Windows.old folder

Since you have all your files backed upward... would not be a pure
install Windows 7 will be the best bet instead of agony
on this issue?

If you need to delete the files or folders in a system directory, then you must first turn off UAC.

Alternatively, if you are familiar with the controls of the console, you can remove them under an elevated command prompt.

Although I don't use SkyDrive, I thought that someone could help me with a problem I have with a cloud storage; I can't delete a file zip of my stock, which is an integral part of my Web-based e-mail program. I put a check mark in the box next to the folder (not file), press DELETE, OKAY the confirmation but nothing happens; the record remains in place. Old post I know but I had this problem on several of my removable HDs, and finally I managed to remove the 'System Volume Information' folder:

DO NOT DO THIS ON YOUR C: DRIVE OR YOUR WINDOWS HARD DRIVE!

Right click on desktop, and then click [New-> shortcut]
    Write: cmd.exe

Click [next] and then click [finish]

Right click on cmd.exe icon, and then click 'run as administrator'
Now select the external hard drive (f: in my case)

    C:\>f:

Yes now the following (you can copy paste):
    F:\>attrib s h/s/d
    F:\>attrib - r/s/d
    F:\>Rd "System Volume Information" / s
Are System Volume Information, you sure (Y/N)? There

    And you're DONE ;-)

    Original title:

Help me, I can't delete the user record, even I have loged on as an administrator. I used Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

    Please give feed back imiedietly

If you are referring to in the record of user directly under the users profile folder, it is protected.  The only way to delete normally is to delete the account of user via the control panel / user accounts and choose to also delete user files when you are prompted.
It would be foolish if you want to keep the user account, but delete the folder of the user.

  • Cannot delete the folder Adobe Reader 11.0?

While transferring adobe reader for my other HARD drive, I dropped accidentally the folder on my desktop. I thought none of cela and after that all that was done I tried to remove it from my office and now it keeps telling me I don't have permission. I am the only user and I have of course the administrator and I checked properties that tell me that everything has total control. I tried to remove it while in safe mode, I removed drive adobe completely from my computer and I still can't. Allow me to remove the files are ' identity-H ' and ' identity-V ' files in the folder of the CMap. I was able to delete the folder from anywhere except my office.

You can't move a program installed in this way, at least not under Windows.  You must uninstall and then reinstall it on the other drive.

I downloaded a bios update file and saved to a folder on my desktop.  It's for another computer.  When I try to delete it now, it says "access denied."  The name of the file is sp24786.exe.  This is a utility to create a disk to update the bios for an Armada 1750.  My laptop is a DV5140US.  Can someone help me?

You probably accidentally "run" the file, and there is a window somewhere waiting for you to click 'OK' or something, when an exe is runing, windows do not allow you to delete it. But it should allow you to remove it if it is not not runing.
