Cannot delete the ghost volume

NAA.6006016003c02800dc0bc7f0b6f0e311 is a fibre channel LUN of our VNX5500 presented to our 5.1U2 7 vSphere hosts.  He is identified as LUN 0 seen through the vSphere on all 7 host one Client is an empty data store.

When I remove the data store and detach the LUN it greys out as expected.  I'll then the the VNX and only remove LUNS from the storage pool, which in turn deletes it hosts during a whole 'Rescan '.

Naa.6006016003c02800dc0bc7f0b6f0e311 of time disappears, a new LUN 0 naa.50060160bde00e5850060160bde00e58 appears and there is no size related and there is no new data store.  If I choose 'Storage to add' this 'Phantom' volume is not available and I can take it apart and put it together, but there is nothing there and it is not really related to any real storage.  It's just a ghost LUNS in vSphere.

If I add the real naa.600... LUN to the storage pool, naa.500 disappears and LUN 0 reflects correctly again with naa.600... identifier.  I remove again and LUN 0 becomes naa.500... identifier again.

I want two-pass, but I can't get rid of naa.500... little matter what I try.

In the game there is no DTS or SIOC.

I restarted management, but also a restart services.sh officers when none of those who have worked I reloaded 1 host but it has not yet remove the ghost LUNS.

I did all the tricks of esxcli I can find related to the deletion of volumes.  More funny thing is when I run the command to take it apart, put on 'off' etc, the gray naa.500 of volume in the customer and orders are successful.  Then I run the actual delete command and it is running successfully within the CLI, but if you look at the GUI, naa.500... which was gray becomes active (not grayed out) within a period of a few seconds after the removal of the CLI.

Whack how?

I suspect it's something behind of a volume that no longer exists and probably did not exist for a long time, but who was not properly removed when he was abducted.

Someone has suggestions for how to get rid of this volume mysterious ghost?

It is by design with multiple EMC storage systems. Unless you present a LUN with a 0 host ID, you will see the LUN of 'management' (which is not a disk device) as LUN 0 on the host.

  • Cannot delete the System Volume Information trash

I am running Windows xp on a Dell computer and I recently removed the System Volume Information folder on an external hard drive after the deactivation of the restoration of the system for this drive.  I don't remember how it happened, but the said folder ended up in the trash.  Now every time that I try to empty the trash, I get an error message indicating that access to the file is denied and it cannot be deleted.  I can see the folder in the trash, but I can restore it or delete it.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Thanks for your reply. I tried both of your suggestions, but unfortunately none of them allowed me to remove the stubborn system folder.  I had to start the computer in Mode safe, gives me full control over the folder to the trash (even though I am the administrator) and then finally was able to remove it. For some reason any Security tab does not appear when you talk about the Properties dialog box, unless you are using safe mode.

  • Cannot delete the ghost App on iMac

I deleted an app of my iMac which was being updated. Now, the launchpad icon constantly has an empty bar under it (such as one that indicates that an update is underway) and when the app that I had deleted in the applications folder is not yet on the launch as a gray icon and I can't remove it. I tried dragging it to the trash and pressing x next (after long - by clicking on the app) but nothing seems to work.

    Can anyone help please?

  • ProBook 4530 s: cannot delete the HP volume/brightness screen displays

Hi, as the title suggests, I want to remove the displays on-screen volume/brightness/capslock/numlock on my laptop

Short story about what happened from my side, I got my laptop 3 years ago and the display screens were not there, until I reformatted my laptop a few months ago to windows 7 Professional (a win7 Ultimate) and the screen came with it, now I'm on windows 10 and they are still there

Major problem I have with them are the fairly high FPS drop they cause, not to mention those bugs

I looked in the forums of hp for solutions and nothing will not work:
    HP Quicktouch/tauch missing
HP MediaSmart Smart menu is missing also
Revo uninstaller did not find anything about this is mentioned in the forums

    Thanks for the help

I have never seen or met.

I've seen similar, as in games or overlays of user interface overlays. You have installed a program to show that?  Check in your "hidden icons", down to your left. Y at - it an icon which shows, if so can "out you"?  Is it in the Control Panel, all programs that say "overlay" or something?

The last thing that I can say, go to the Task Manager and go to the Startup tab. Is there something in there that can refer to a display on?

If none of them are successful, I will continue to look more deeply into it.

    missing volume control

volume control was gone. I tried to go into my control panel to use it, but I get an error that says:

"Windows cannot display the control volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. »

I have lost my Windows XP disc in a move and can't reinstall the file to a disk, how to fix this?

When you use certain features sounds and Audio devices, you see a message like this:

Windows cannot display the control of volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.

It seems that the c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe file is missing.

This may occur if your antivirus/antimalware application thinks the file is suspicious and quarantines (effectively delete) the file.  You can replace the missing file with a backup copy of the file that is in another folder on your system.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive...

We know that XP keeps copies of critical system files in the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

Using the Explorer, search for or navigate to the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

Locate the sndvol32.exe file, right-click, choose copy (it copies the file to the Windows Clipboard).

If your Solution Explorer settings are not set to display file extensions, you will see only a file called 'sndvol32' which has an icon that looks like to the volume control slider (this is the file you need).

If the file is missing in the dllcache folder, look for a copy of the file in this folder:

    c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

Browsing from a level in the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32

Right-click on an empty area in the window of c:\windows\system32 and choose Paste to paste in the missing file where it belongs.

Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file.

Now try your features sounds and Audio devices.

Note that run sfc/scannow will not replace the missing file because it is not this that sfc/scannow does.

  • partition 'Windows cannot delete the active system partition on this disk.

I created a partition of HARD drive in order to install a system in multiboot using XP and Vista, but I did mess up the BONES of the two. Now I want to do a clean install of Vista ONLY, but I don't know how to get rid of the partition! * Example: Computer management > disk management > right-click on the volume (M) > Delete Volume * but I get an error: "Windows cannot delete the active system partition on this disk" can someone help me to get my Vista to original?

P.S. I have the "Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium32 - bit Operating System Disk" provided with my computer when I bought it new. Thank you! -Jeff

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

Delete the existing Partitions during the process.

  • Impossible to remove an unknown account, get the error 'cannot delete the unknown account because this object inherits permissions from its parent.

I have several programs that when I go to security there is an unknown account and when I try to delete unknown account I get this message that you cannot delete the Unknown(S-1...) account because this object inherits from its parent perssions. To delete the Unknown(S-1...) account, you must prevent this object from inheriting permissions. Turn off the option for the inheritance of permissions and then try to delete the Unknown(S-1...) account again. I tried the edit and advance features in respect of security without success. Why have I not control over security permissions?

Found a solution to this problem.

Go to the folder parent of the folder that contains the files with this unknown account number:
    1. right click on the PARENT folder, and then click Properties.
    2. on the Security tab, go to the advanced options (bottom window)
    3. in the new window, click the button change the permissions in the bottom.
    4. Select the Group (NOT AUTHENTICATED, just of users USERS) users
    5. check "replace all permissions of child object with permissions inheritable of this object.
    6. click on the OK button or apply and done, fixed number.

Hope this helps anyone else having this problem, for me it happened after reinstallation of win 7 on the same machine and keep my images on another partition, so it was spared by the new facility, so the old user account was always on the file permissions.

    Hello

From the desktop, hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run window, type services.msc and press to enter.  Scroll down to the print spooler , made service right click and select Properties, then click the Stop button.  Now search for C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS, then delete the work inside this folder - you may need to click a command prompt to get the authority to open the PRINTERS folder.

Restart the computer and you should find that the documents have been deleted.

Cannot delete the file.  Says "not not found could not find this item check the location of this object and try again."

I got this file from my friend got sent - is a word document, I had on their computer.  So I tried to use Disk Cleanup to delete temporary files, temporary internet files and files program downloaded.  Does not work.

When I check the properties, there is no security tab so I can't transfer ownership in this way.

I don't want to experiment using the way of the transfer of ownership command prompt as the name of the file is several sentences long.  I can't rename it either, of course.

Windows 7, a week and I already have a stupid problem which has already lost an hour of my time.

What I did was to create a Notepad file that was empty and saved in the same location as the file that won't go away.  Once registered.  I click with the right button on the new file and rename the exact name as the file problem.  Don't forget to change the file extension (ex: .doc)

    ex file problem: word.doc

    new file: word.doc

as long as they match eachother exactly you should see the file problem disappear and once that's gone, you can delete the new file created.

Run the fixit available in the link below and check if that makes a difference

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us

Method 2: Perform a clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error message, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
