Cannot disable Parental controls in Windows 7

A few months ago I turned on "Parental controls" in Windows 7 and installed Windows Live Essentials which enabled Windows Live Family Safety.  Then set up controls on the connection of my sons account.  It worked well to block his access to select programs and Web sites.

I now want to delete controls on his account and also completely disable Parental control, will have problems.

I signed in to Live parental controls and turned off all the selections.  But his account still has restrictions and can not run programs that were previously blocked.  It is still block.  They work fine if I launch them from my Admin account or standard wife.  But not standard account of my son.

If I change the 'provider' to 'None' then click on account of my son, I get the error msg...  "Impossible to make changes to parental controls settings. If the problem persists, see your system administrator.  UH... I am the admin.

What I noticed is, if I look at the screen carefully when I click on his account, I see what I think, this is the screen adjustment "Parental control" or by a Commission for a half second before getting the error.

I searched and tried different steps in this area and on the web. Most seem to want to refer to a Vista system, mine is Win 7.

I did cmd level scans as "SFC/scannow", stopping the service and allow the account administrator by default to connect and try to leave, but none of these work.

Even uninstalled the 'Parental control' part Live Essentials and no luck and reinstalled complete essentially no effect.

I've been on before IE8, IE9 attended, so he just went back to IE8 with no effect (didn't expect not but just to try).

In short, it seems that Parental control is glued ON and now has his hooks in my son's account and will not let go.  I don't want to delete his account and set up a new account, as this will work around the question for my son for now, but leave the service is running and the problem.

My system is running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.   My account is an administrator.  My son has a Standard account.  The programs work very well through other accounts simply not hers.

So, how can I get out his account to parental authority and then how do I disable / stop completely, the Parental control itself?

  • Cannot make changes to the parents control settings (Windows 7)

I've seen several comments regarding this same problem, but so far no solution.

I am the administrator, but I get an error when I try to access the parent on standard accounts control settings.  Now, what's even weirder, is that I am able to access ONE of the standard accounts, and there is nothing different between this account and others.

I have tried all the solutions already posted:

    -running 'services.msc' and the implementation of parent controls (which is said by the way, says "this service is a stub for of Windows Parental control feature that existed in Vista", which is strange, it's as if there's no 'Parental control' in Windows 7?);

-create a new administrator account via the control panel (in the case where my administrator account is corrupt), by restarting and trying to put Parental controls

    -create a new administrator account using the command prompt "net user administrator / Active: Yes";

-in the course of running "sfc/scannow".

    ANY OTHER IDEAS?

Did you you run regedit as an administrator? It is a common problem in trying just new values. This is done by right-clicking on the program and selecting "Run as Administrator". This allows you to write new values.

If you would like more information on this subject by me, read the last post on page 3 here:
If you have recently encountered this problem, I would recommend a system restore, and I explain the reasons in the tread above.
    I hope this helps!

  • Parental controls in Windows 7

I am trying to set up a standard account with parental controls on Windows 7 and have Norton Security installed.  I'm blocking access to the majority of installed programs, but don't know if I should leave that everything related to Norton Security so that it works as expected. Am I suppose to allow any Norton-related programs for the program works properly or even Norton will work as it is supposed to if nothing is done?

    Hello

You can use the Windows 7 or your security 3rdparty Parental control software. Of Windows 7 Parental control options cannot be combined with your security 3rdparty software. It would be better if you check the Parental control option that would suit you better. If you decide to keep your control Parental of Windows 7, you can leave your such security 3rdparty software what.

  • Management of user accounts and Parental control in Windows 8

    Hello

I'll post a thread on how to manage the user accounts and Parental control in Windows 8.

A user account allows you to connect to Windows 8. By default, your computer already has a user account that you have been
needed to create when you configure Windows 8. If you want to share your computer, you can create a separate for each Member of your household or office user account. You can also choose to associate any user account with a Microsoft account. Signature with a Microsoft account will bring all your SkyDrive files, contacts and more in the start screen. You can even connect to another computer that has Windows 8 and all your important files will be there.

Here is a video on how to manage the user accounts and Parental control in Windows 8.

Also, here is a document showing you how to manager Our user on Windows 8.

If you have any questions let me know.

  • Disable parental control

Parental control is not activated and deactivated, but it continues to insist that he is there and makes life miserable for all accounts. It used to work fine. An upgrade did something nasty?

Go to start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services and find the Parental control or control Parental of Windows (I have Vista professional so that the service is not on my system to get the exact names - there may be more than one).  Click on the menu to the low bar for each and click on disable and then click OK and restart.  Without the Service, Parental controls does not work and I hope it will solve the problem.

Try disabling UAC http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-user-account-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista/ - this also turns off the Parental control.  Restart and then turn the UAC (you don't want to run your computer with UAC for a very long time) and see if the Parental control is still a problem.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • setting up parental controls in windows vista Yahoo Messenger using esp

I just bought a new machine and I am trying to set up parental controls. I have windows Vista Home Premium... When Parental control is disabled, YM works, but when it is turned ON, even if the setting is "Allow all Web sites" (which is not make sense because that's what Parental control is all about), but it's the last option I did and so far, my children still can connect to YM. They can use it only when they run it as administrator and means that I always have to type my password, but this is not practical, because I work.

My kids play games other games online, but they are stored in my drive to external hardware. I don't want my crash machine just because of games... but when I try ro turn ON User Account Control, some games are always asking my permission... like when they play DotA, the software application on my external hard drive.

    Thank you.

    Hello everyone

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Answers.  Try the suggestion below and see if it solves the problem.

    Open Windows Explorer
Go to where is installed Yahoo Messenger
Right click on the .exe file that launches Yahoo messenger
    (C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\YahooMessenger.exe)
    Click on properties
    Click compatibility
Check the run as administrator of
    Click on apply
    Click OK

In the Parental control, you may need to allow that all listed under c:\Progam files\Yahoo\common and c:\program files\yahoo\companion\Intsalls\cpn

If you still have questions, you may need to give the users group full control to yahoomessenger.exe

Please post back and let us know if it helped to solve the problem - thanks Ken

  • Impossible to turn off parental control in Windows 10

Today, I met a rather frustrating problem.

After starting my laptop with preview W10, build 10130, I noticed a guest who said that safety was turned on, but before I could click it for more information, he disappeared. Nothing in my status bar bar toolbar or notification, just nothing. So I thought it was just misplaced something, after all, it's a preview, it's just a bug.

    I was wrong.

Eager to visit a website judged inappropriate for children, I got a splashscreen on my browsers, Spartan and Maxthon says the same thing: ask permission, you; ll need to ask an adult to your family if you can visit [the site].

It's weird, I have a 20 your old man, perhaps not really mature, but I'm an adult. So, why can I not see this website? I looked through my Microsoft account and found my "family", consisting of me and my father, two adults according to the family of Microsoft. After having kicked out of the family and my father hunted himself too, I thought that the problem would be gone. Evil. The same problem.

Clicking on the button "request email" now gives an error message, ' something was wrong that we are working - try again in a little bit. "

Then I started looking on the internet how to close parental controls in W8 and W10, I found http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/how-do-i-switch-off-parental-control/25fd2b1a-58e3-4648-b6a7-90fff12027c2, but arriving on 3, I have a problem: on the specified location, there is no link 'parental control '. I've looked everywhere on the control panel and settings, but I can't find anywhere the parental control. I found something on the Microsoft Family, but clicking on that does nothing. Nothing opens either.

My MS account is set on my real birthday, as my Skype account. I am admin on my phone, if this is not the problem.

So, how can I turn off parental control on my build W10 10130?

I found the solution (which worked for me):

    1. In (modern) settings > account > your account
    2. Press "connect you with a local account instead.
    3. Create a temporary account
    4. Sign in with the new account
    5. In (modern) settings > account > family & others
    6. Under 'Your family' should be a link where you can reconnect to a MS Account (I don't know the exact name of the link). Just tap it ;)
    7. Sign out and you should be able to sign back with your MS Account
    8. Everything should work now :)

  • parental control for windows and IE8 lists

could you tell me where to find lists allow/block for access in ie8 Manager and parental control under accounts of users and parental control?

    Hi pavilion_alex,.

For Access Manager, see the following: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-use-content-advisor-in-internet-explorer-8.html.

For Parental control, see the following: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Set-up-Parental-Controls.  For each category, there is a tracking link that provides details on how to manage this particular aspect, including where are the lists and how block/allow access.

Windows Live Family Safety 2011 allows you to manage remote parental control - but not really adds additional means to block or allow.  You can simply access computers remotely to do what parental controls can do this on the local PC.  Here's where to find this program: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-family-safety?os=other.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

I just bought a new computer with Windows Vista Service Pack 1 pre installed.  I've set up three profiles.  Two administrators and one user (my daughter).  When I put parental controls on his profile through user accounts, administrators are unable to access the internet.  Before you start to go through each setting and eliminate each other through process of elimination, anyone had this problem happen before?

  • Parental controls on Windows 7

For more than two years, I have install parental controls with the family of security filters on the computer used by my children. I have NOT connected to the computer or seen the reports. When I try to access the reports today, it took me to a Web site where I was prompted to log in to the Site of family of Microsoft. After using my normal Microsoft credentials, there is no account or clickthrough reports.  I was asked to add a child. I don't remember creating a separate account for parental control of Microsoft. Is it possible to determine which account has been used or is the way to access these reports changed?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.
