  I found a solution but it takes several steps, and the average user will never know how do it.

  (1) when your Hotmail account is opened in Windows 8 press the keyboard windows key and the letter 'I' at the same time.

  2.) on the side right under, click "Accounts" "settings".

  3.), click your Hotmail account that will accomplish.

  4.) downstairs there is a box "Remove all accounts" click it. Don't worry, this does not remove your Hotmail account or any account, it's just signs than you. You have to click on the box twice that a notification saying your data will be always preserved in the clouds.

  5.) go back and check the mail application, now you will be asked to you "try again" and it takes back you to the login section.

  Phew, both pis Microsoft na not happen to a better solution. As I said, I see a lot of prosecutions and a lot of divorces because of this.

  I can't log out at all, tried allowing all cookies and session cookies.  Even found refernce to re set Explorer internet without Add ons, does all this and still when I connect to hotmail cannot disconnect.

  It's really frustrating and microsoft do not seem to solve, all references are to the problems siging in.  or ask me to re create cookies that I made.

  Desperate for help, have deleted temporary cookies etc, still no joy

He quoted me $250.00 for two years of protection and $ 150.00 for one year. I was shocked! How could I possibly know who I was talking to and what kind of fool he thinks I was to give my credit card no. and hundreds of dollars to him without thinking about the first or shopping locally for someone to come fix my computer? In any case, I hung up on him because he was pressuring me to buy this service and I run like that pressure.

  That's why I'm about my problem on this forum. Anyone know what I can do these things without spending an arm & a leg with the Geek Squad at my house or have it remotely for $150 - $ 250? I work only a temporary job and my real job has lost more than 3 years, so I'm not in the best financial conditions. This computer is my only means of job hunting so I need every day. Help, please!

  Antivirus and anti-malware are REACTIVE.  At the time where they usually understand that an exploit was used to infect/infest you (which is likely to be how the lack of new updates will expose Windows XP to infection/infestation) - it's too late.

  If this system will take care of Windows 7, and you might drop to 8.1 Windows, it will be probably very well in the hardware specs for Windows 7.  8.1 Windows and Windows 7 will require a clean install anyway.  Purchase a support/license of Windows 7 OEM (System Builder) and install it and you're good until 2020 and you will always have the general appearance of Windows XP and most of your hardware/software will probably be able to be installed and running.

  After downloading some files when I try to open the file, I get the message cannot open the file, windows needs to know what program created the file.

  Perhaps no program has been assigned to this file format and so you cannot open these files.
  I put t know which files you downloaded, but you can choose an application installed that can open these files.

  Right click the file and I have to then choose open with.
  Then, you could choose the program you want to use.
