  • Downloaded and installed Windows updates. Running to find the modified theme and no clear Vista theme.

    Hello

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-an-update

When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again

"How to hide or show an update of Windows Vista"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/72491-Windows-Update.html

Here's how to chanage update settings, if you think it is necessary to:

"Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-updates-and-extras/

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

    See you soon.

  • Cannot download or unstall Windows updates since Aug. 12

The last date on which Windows updates have been installed correctly on my PC has been on 12 August.  Since that date something prevents me to install new updates.  Whenever I click on the "Install updates" button on the box "Download and install new updates on my computer" for Windows Update tent to start downloading (the green progress bar appears for a second or two), but then my PC back to the "yellow shield with the message box"download and install the new update on my computer".  At first I thought it was just a busy time of the day at Microsoft, so I waited until a 'downtime' to try again.  Same no result... no download.  Several updates again 'important' security, but also the other "Recommended" updates are waiting for download and install, but I can't understand how prevents download of launch.  I ran my McAfee anti-virus every day hoping that there is some sort of bug that prevented my access to Windows Update, but no luck.  I also read a lot of Forums and tried a little suggestions and still not solve.  The last thing I tried was the 'Microsoft mount 50202' button and mode used the 'more aggressive' to see if it will address the problem.  The "Fix It" went through his program and when I rebooted the problem persists, although it shows in the State of Windows Update, now under ' updates have been installed: never ", where before running this"Fix It"he showed on 12 August in this status.

As others in this Forum have posted, I ran as AUDITOR of FILES SYSTEM (SFC.exe) and after he ran, he has stated that he could not fix all problems found and had this message:

Search the journal of Dir CBS.  windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

    For example: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

When I went to this Dir CBS log file and tried to open it, it says 'Access denied'.

I saw a suggestion of "Reset Windows Update components" and something about the use of "Clean boot", but I'm not very good technically and have know idea what that means or steps I must take to fix my problem.

I even had someone suggest that I had to completely reinstall the OS Vista together, which seems CRAZY to me!  This issue seems to be a simple problem to the surface (a possible corruption in the file: Windows\system32\wuauclt.exe), but when I search for this particular file "Research system" he cannot locate, then it must be a hidden Windows file.

I hope that someone support Microsoft has the solution for me with a step by step fix recommendation, because from what I can tell, I'm not the only one having this problem for only the last 3 weeks or more.

    Hello Bobbybo,

Thank you for using the Microsoft answers Forums.

    Windows Update, Error 8007000 b

If you receive the 8007000 b error when you try to install Windows Vista updates, the Windows file system transaction log is damaged. The transaction log is used by the Windows file system to recover when a file error occurs. To correct this error of update, you clear the log. Here's how:

To clear the file system transaction log

    1. Click the button start . In the search box, type prompt commands, and then, in the list of results, right-click command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

    2. In the command prompt window, type fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\. (This assumes that C: is the drive on which Windows Vista is installed. If Windows is installed on another drive, change the drive accordingly letter.)

    3. Restart your computer.

    4. Download and install the update again.

      Thank you.

UDAY $012 please let me know that whether the solution worked or not, I thank you and appreciate your comments.
